After walking out of the hotel we booked into after 15 minutes due to horrible conditions and with no place to stay, our wonderful guide ,Eyal, picked up the phone and got us a lovely room at The Scots overlooking the Sea of Galilee. It's a beautiful location with 2 separate buildings and a beautiful courtyard. They have an amazing buffet dinner that was included in the room price and the buffet breakfast was equally excellent. It's abeautiful hotel and the concierge and people who work there couldn't be nicer. We were sorry to leave but will always be thankful for the Scots!
Th Scots hotel is a small boutique hotel that was formerly a mission hospital owned and ru by the Church of Scotland. The historic building is located on a hill and overlooks the sea of Galilee in beautiful garden setting. The historic building have been completely updated with all the mod=cons and amenities. A delicious breakfast and dinner with variety and excellent choices was available for all three days we stayed there. The staff is welcoming (a shot of scotch and apple cider on check in!) and courteous. I would thoroughly recommend it (maybe not if you have children below age 10) and would be delighted to stay there again at the next opportunity
I stayed here for 3 nights with my husband. Very nice check in - hot apple cider with whisky was a pleasant surprise. The room was relatively spacious, but fairly basic and a bit dated. On site parking - very convenient. Laundry service - fast and reasonably priced. The buffet breakfast and dinner (included in the room) were very abundant - enough for anyone to find something they liked. The highlight was Oscar (one of the staff in the restaurant) who chatted knowledgeably about wine and then recommended a winery for us to visit. He messaged the winemaker and the next day we took a trip to Golan to try her wine. Fantastic wine and a really amazing lunch at her winery.
As you go out the back door of the lobby, the magic starts. You are greeted by open spaces, light stone walls, tasteful gardens, and sculptures. Our room has dual aspects so we can see the Tiberias hills and the town and a part of the Lake Galilee. Breakfast and dinner are always amazing given the generous choices accented by some Scottish delicacies. The only suggestion that I would like to make is to incorporate a ramp at the stairs leading to the accommodation buildings for the ease of guests.
What a lovely hotel. From the warm welcome at reception to the final goodbye, the staff were wonderful. The breakfast and dinner buffets were awesome! And a big shoutout to the bartender in the Ceilidh Bar. A well trained bartender who knows his stuff and has a great hospitable spirit!
My husband and I spent 2 nights at The Scots Hotel in Tiberias and it was delightful in every regard. Our room was beautiful and impeccably clean. The grounds were an oasis inside the city. The breakfast and dinner buffets were extensive and delectable. Service was first rate. If we ever find ourselves in Tiberias again, we will be staying at the Scots Hotel.
My husband and I stayed here for one night while traveling in Israel. We had a room in the Doctor’s House, which was charming. The room was very large and comfortable. The bed and pillows were terrific. There was a beautiful, if tiny, view of Galilee. The front desk folks weren’t the friendliest, and there was no help with the luggage. We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel restaurant. Dinner was good, not great. The wine pours were stingy. The food was good. Breakfast was outstanding! There was a huge assortment of choices. I could have grazed all morning just trying out everything. I would have awarded 5 stars if the service had been friendlier.
We had two issues. First, the room we reserved was unavailable so we were given a lesser room. Secondly , the front desk staff were unwilling to assist with the lack of WIFI service.in the room they provided.
As soon as you are welcomed, an unpleasant, haughty person, a room with all the conveniences and view on the lake, but without any charm, a large swimming pool, but to which one reaches by stairs, a bridge, a lift.... An aperitif overpriced in an empty bar, served without a smile, without any accompaniment. .A tasteless meal, worthy of a company canteen, bad advice for the wines, too expensive. Too bad... the check out was not better than the check in, and when I pointed out to the receptionist that the coffee machine was not working, she did not bother to react...
The Scots is a chic, well-run, boutique hotel on the Sea of Galilee. The rooms are very well appointed with terrific touches like filtered watered dispensers and Nespresso coffee units. The staff is genuinely nice, helpful and efficient and the place is spotless. The grounds are exquisite offering stunning views of the Sea of Galilee from the beautiful gardens and lovely pool area. The food at all meals is both plentiful and delicious with two excellent, earnest young sommeliers who want to introduce guests to Israel’s excellent wines. The one oddity - but seems common in Israel - the pool closes at 6:30 p.m. which is early for a resort hotel. Nonetheless, The Scots is a gem.
