This is a historical building. The cafe is on the lower level but it's currently only open on weekends. Apparently there's not enough business to keep it open during the week. Guest rooms are upstairs.
My room was great--clean, comfortable, and attractive. I was surprised at how quiet is was considering that it's on a busy street. (My room was on the back corner.)
I was the only guest for the night that I was there. Angela let me choose what I wanted for breakfast. I just wanted something simple and light, but what she served was very nice.
The B&B is within walking distance of downtown, so it is very convenient. I rode the city bus from the train station (runs every half hour and costs $1.50) and the bus stop is within a block of the B&B.
It's a great value. I compared it with downtown hotels and this was definitely the best choice.
I had a little difficulty setting up my reservation because phone calls were not always returned promptly and emails seemed to go astray, but my persistence in tracking down Angela and confirming my reservation was worth the effort. Also, Angela was gracious enough to meet me at 10:30 a.m. to check me in early. She's a very pleasant person.

My wife and I stayed here for a evening ... very urban, more so than most B&B's - we like it a lot. The place is historic and in downtown Albany ... we ate at Lombardo's across the street which was also great
Angel (the owner) was warm, caring and very accomdating - we recommend the B&B as long as you are comfortable being in an urban environment

We chose Angel's Cafe B & B mainly for its relative proximity to the Amtrak station, and what a delight it was! This historic building (1811, I think), served as the home of the Governor of New York in the early 19th century, in a neighborhood which later became the "Little Italy" area of the city. There are still some remnants of that that history in the form of Italian restaurants (we ate at Lombardo's--established 1919), just up the street. The neighborhood was then decimated in the 60's by the building of a huge interstate system and bridge, leaving this historic gem to decay.
Angela bought it in this form--windows broken, basically gutted--and renovated it as a really comfortable and attractive B and B, using the former hardware/candy store on the first floor as a cafe for the excellent breakfast--we got to choose our menu and time. It is beautifully furnished and features really wonderful and interesting art.
It is an easy walk to the riverfront, in one direction, and the excellent NY state museum in the other. I would note, though, that I would have been a little uncomfortable arriving late at night, if I didn't know where I was going. From Amtrak, using the 214 bus worked out great--about 8-10 minutes from the front of the station, and on the way back, we walked across the highway bridge, which was actually quite pleasant, but there is a confusing maze of parking lots and highway flyovers on the Albany side of the bridge.

Despite my best efforts to make a reservation, I was unable to reach anyone at Angel's B&B. Their website gives their phone number, but I called multiple times and left a message, and no one ever called me back.

Looked for a B&B in the Albany area. This one got good reviews, and we agree. We were at first skeptical, as it is an urban area, and as we pulled up, there was some sort of police arrest across the street. But inside, you will find cleanliness, peaceful and welcoming atmosphere. Angela served us a fine breakfast and regaled us with entertaining historical stories. We will be back again!

My wife and I stayed here in late September for an evening. We were unfamiliar with Albany and the concept of an urban B&B and Angel's completely exceeded our expectations on every level. It was easy to find and there was ample parking in the back. This historic building is located within easy walking distance of the New York State museum and other attractions. Our guest room was large, attractive and very clean and despite the fact that it's an urban B&B, very quiet at night. The bed was so comfortable I think we had our best sleep of the vacation there. Angela was the perfect hostess and served up an amazing breakfast in the morning. We have no hesitation in recommending Angel's as a destination for weary travelers. It was a real pleasure to stay here.

We stayed at Angel's B&B for one night while attending a Bruce Springsteen concert at the Times Union Center. Overall it was a very good experience.
Pluses:
*Angela, the owner, is a very gracious and welcoming host. She greeted us warmly upon our arrival and showed us to our room. She cooked breakfast for us the next morning and shared details of her rehabilitation of the b&b. She was not intrusive though - which we really appreciated.
*The location cannot be beat if you are going to a concert at the Times Union Center. It is less than a 5 minute walk away.
*Free and safe parking at the back of the b&b.
*Room was very clean and the bathroom was spotless.
*Bed and pillows were very comfortable.
*The b&b had a collection of interesting African and African-American art.
*Breakfast was yummy - coffee, eggs, turkey sausage and home cooked home fries.
Cons:
This is so small that it's almost embarrassing to write it, but here it is. The room had a coffee maker but the coffee packs were decaf only, and we couldn't find any mugs. After a late night at a concert, we would have liked a cup of coffee in our room before breakfast.
We really enjoyed our stay at Angel's and would stay there again if we are ever back in Albany. Thanks to Angela for her hospitality!
