Stayed one night for a concert at MVP arena which is less than a 10 minute walk away, we didn't realize that when we booked the hotel but bonus points for location! Staff were super friendly and helpful at check in. Valet was an added bonus! Room was a typical Hampton Inn room, beds were comfy, complimentary breakfast was your typical hotel fare. Will absolutely stay here again when in Albany!

Hotel's Favourite
This year to get from Montreal to Washington DC, I took a bus to Albany and then a train to Washington from there. Usually I stay at the Holiday Inn as it’s right next to the bus station when I travel this way between the 2 cities but this year that hotel was fully booked at my time of travel. The Hampton Inn however was available and was perfectly satisfactory with efficient check-in and a decent breakfast with egg, meat and starch options. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean. Uber works
well in Albany from the bus station to the hotel and from the hotel to the train station. I also enjoyed walking outside in the morning and seeing the handsome old church right in front.

AJ at the front desk got my experience off to a great start with his kind, personable and friendly demeanor and an upgrade to a King suite for a new Hilton Honors member due to me being the last check in as I arrived into town well after 11 pm on a late train. I had some unnecessary stress as I approached the desk as the Hilton website was not showing my reservation probably due to it being late in the day on the check in date but luckily it came right up in the front desk computer.
The room was very nice and clean with lots of space, bed comfortable, pillows very thin had to use two which sadly seems to be par for the course for four star hotels these days and I didn't have the energy to go back down to ask about something different. Iron worked and ironing board not too unwieldy. Breakfast was passable, scrambled eggs real not powder and not too moist, potatoes edible, better than three star continental breakfast, certainly not restaurant quality which you shouldn't expect from a free four star breakfast anyway.
Only nit picks are it was unfortunate that the continental breakfast used disposable plates and cutlery, but I can easily understand that with staffing challenges, and hot water in lobby for tea was lukewarm when I made a second cup just before checkout time.

Location is central and allows you to walk anywhere downtown. Staff was kind and efficient, although I had very little interaction with them. Rooms are outdated. The outlet on bedside table (most important one!) was broken, leaving my family (and their dozens of devices) to go hunting for others on far away walls. Lots of little annoyances like that. eg. no drinking glasses in bathrooms: you have to unwrap the paper coffee cups to brush your teeth or take a pill with tap water. Perhaps little things too much to expect from such a middle-of-the-road hotel. Then again, for $300 (once you add in all the taxes and fees and parking), is it really? Mandatory valet parking ($18) is annoying but breakfast buffet is good.

I stayed here in early Feb 2025. Upon checkin I was told the card I used to book the room was declined, which was a surprise since I saw the full amount on my card as approved. The front desk told me I needed to provide a second card and the amount I saw on the original was a hold. I was staying 5 nights so the total was $1000+. The second card was charged $870. After a week I still saw both charges. I called corporate, which referred me to the hotel. The front desk manager, Richard, confirmed I should have never been charged on arrival but referred me to the general manager, since he is the only one that can issue refunds. The GM, Muhammad, refused to take my call and has not called me back weeks later. After a week, and several hours of lost time, I put in a dispute with my credit card, which was ultimately approved. Two weeks after my stay, I finally have my $870 back, no thanks to the hotel.
Beyond this, they force a $20/day valet parking fee because the parking lot is small. Cars are parked in tight rows, each car blocking in the last. You will need to wait 20+ minutes for them to retrieve your vehicle. Not a place you want to stay in the winter or if you have an early flight.
The restaurants are awful. They certainly rely on corporate events, because no self respecting individual would eat at them twice. I paid $30 for a burger that came out with a burnt bun and was missing the toppings I ordered. ($22 for a basic burger, $2/topping,$2 for sauce)
I travel a lot for work and have stayed exclusively with the Hilton brand. After dealing with this hotel and corporate, I will not stay at another Hilton. What is the point of brand loyalty if they ignore their customers when there is a problem.

Stayed here 1 night while visiting family for thanksgiving. Nothing special, room seems old and worn, furniture had loose doors and the couch was faded but overall it was quiet for the most part except for a very loud family having an argument in front of our room. Our view was a/c units and the hotels spot lights through dirty windows so we didn’t need a night light. 17 dollar parking for over night is a requirement if your driving

Out of date and shabby rooms and hotel. Paper thin walls, you can hear people talking in next door rooms. The buffet food is inedible - the fruit salad was perhaps made last month and has been sitting in its own liquid since. Avoid if you can, this is worst than a Motel 6 off an Alabama rest stop.

Casey took care of us at check-in and every night of our stay during March Madness Women’s NCAA Sweet Sixteen/Elite 8 with the hotel sold out. She gave great recommendations for Albany restaurants, too. The attendants at breakfast kept everything full throughout the entire serving period, and our room was in perfect condition when we arrived. I will definitely stay here again.

I was greated by friendly helpful valet staff Mike and Houssine who assisted with my baggage and getting me into the hotel. Well organized parking area with large entry landing area and cold water during the heat wave. They took the time to inquire into my departure time and place my vehicle where it would be readily accessible.

Our stay at the hotel was comfortable and very reasonable. The staff was accommodating and very professional. Sedik was very helpful with requests during a busy time. My daughter was staying for the Bar exam and the hotel was very busy. The morning breakfast staff was terrific at keeping the breakfast bar clean and filled during a hectic morning rush. The housekeeping staff was excellent and the housekeeping manager was efficient, friendly and very good at her job! She worked very hard to make guests happy and was very friendly when she saw guests at the hotel during the day. The front desk staff was efficient and very appreciative of guests during a very busy week. Thank you and we will be staying again.

Dear John J,
We are aware of the allegations and share your concern. At this stage, the hotel is working diligently with both local and federal authorities to determine where the video was allegedly filmed in 2015 and who was responsible for the illegal recording and posting. The hotel recently was renovated in 2016, and no recording devices of any nature were discovered at that time. Since the incident was brought to our attention, we have taken a number of proactive steps to ensure guest safety and to assist our team in doing the same. We will continue to work with law enforcement until the perpetrator is caught and brought to justice.
Regards,
M. Hemmid
General Manager
I found the hotel security to be first rate. Vigilance was apparent in each staff member including maid service. Each staff person appeared genuinely happy to be present and invested in their position which is focused on each individual traveler. I can only believe that the unfortunate incident cited is outside the control and oversight of any hotel. I appreciate the fear but this incident is beyond anyone's control.
Generally 30-45 minutes depending on time of day and traffic
There are many closer hotels to airport but further from downtown
Don’t know. . Agree with those who said call hotel.
Not at the hotel itself, however, there are plenty of restaurants nearby that offer al fresco dining as well as nearby parks and if you’d like a look at the best music venue ever, you can view the outside of the Egg from Empire Plaza. Only a short walk from the Hampton
