This is an amazing hotel, which both my wife and I loved. First the positives and then the negatives 1. The hotel is taking advantage of the slowdown in business from the coronavirus to renovate its rooms. Our room was, for all intents and purposes, new. It was also clean. 2. The prices are extremely good. My wife and I stayed a night at the hotel with an included buffet breakfast for far less than any five star hotel at which I've stayed for the last 15 years (the last hotel that came close was Le Meridien in Chongqing back in 2010). 3. We had a very nice dinner in the Korean restaurant downstairs in a large private room for the same price found at mid range restaurants in Seoul or Pusan. It would have been good value for money regardless - at a hotel, it was a phenomenal value. 4. The decor in much of the hotel is gorgeous. It is not a hotel that would be built today. The walls are frequently lined with traditional terracotta. The entrance evokes the feel of Korean palaces. The outside of the hotel is more marmite (you'll either dig it or you won't). 5. The hotel includes a gym. It also has a nice sauna. The sauna is for men only. I'm not sure about the gym. If you're a woman and you care about a morning workout, call ahead. 6. The hotel is on a hill, but it is nevertheless a 15 minute walk from the high speed rail to Seoul. Disadvantages 1. My biggest complaint was, oddly, the shower head in our bathroom. It was old fashioned, the kind of thing you'd find in a standard Korean condominium style hotel. You either have to bend over to make use of it, or take it out of its holster and hold it over your head. I know I am not the only person that associates luxury hotels with luxury bathrooms. The shower in this one came up short (the rest of it was perfectly fine), and my frustration was that it was such an obvious oversight. Go figure. 2. Many modern hotels have small rooms. This is an older hotel with small rooms, which was a surprise. It was entirely adequate for our needs, but it was not palatial. 3. As noted above, we loved the hotel's decor, and indeed elements of it, like the hallway leading to our room on the 14th floor, were more impressive than any hotel at which I have yet stayed (I've stayed at dozens of five star hotels around the world). Having said this, the hotel is older and some things come up short by modern standards. The lobby, though beautiful, has low ceilings. The gym is adequate, but not luxurious. The hotel has no gardens or outdoor swimming pool (there is an indoor swimming pool, but it was closed as a precautionary measure for COVID 19). The breakfast buffet was very pleasant indeed, but it did not equal what you would find at most five star hotels. This hotel felt somewhere between a 4 and 5 star hotel, extraordinary in some respects and somewhat lacking in others. However, I can't remember a hotel that offered a better combination of value for money. I would thoroughly recommend it.

This hotel is very far from all attractions and the city centre. They have a shuttle, but its not at convenient times. The hotel looks amazing from the outside and the lobby..constructed in traditional heritage style...staff was kind to me and could not speak in English, but its okay... So apart from the lovely building and lobby, this hotel must be avoided by tourists. The room was big, but old fashioned. It was congested and crowded with old furniture. There were plastic reusable slippers which i would never wear. The bathroom has hair, which was so unhygienic and dirty to see...the rooms were loud and not soundproof...the bathroom door knob was broken..the view from my sliding window was amazing though...apart from that the entire hotel was old, outdated and needs major over hauling...the restaurants dont have any menu choice...the unhygienic part, really put me off...

The hotel is a quite interesting Korean style hotel but unfortunately the age can be seen everywhere. Check in & out worked fine, fast & efficient. The rooms are old style and to a certain extent, especially in the bathroom, you can see the wear & tear, but all works fine and is well maintained. FOC wife within the premises. Breakfast buffet offers a very good range of dishes. Now taking all of the above and the price into consideration, it’s a good hotel with a very good price. Recommendable

Nice place to stay for one night. Beautiful old hotel and good maintain. Rooms ok for the price and the evening buffet was ok even there was not so much. A little lack of english from the front desk but it is normal here in South Korea

This hotel is very distinguishable in its eastern Busan location. It has a unique facade as well as interior decor. The rooms are small and somewhat dated. This time of year, they are so hot that we have to keep the window open and received a fan from the front desk. The front desk has a limited vocabulary of English but is more than willing to help guests. The breakfast buffet offers a full range of food. There are some restaurants nearby - just don’t turn left from front entrance. We ended up in a very dodgy part of town and returned to the hotel without having found a decent restaurant. The second night, we ate almost across the street (slightly to the right of entrance), and had a delightful, authentic Korean meal.

Really interesting motel on the top of a hill in Busan affording great views of the city layout. Easy walking downhill to markets and good breakfast to fuel up before braving the cold of a Korean winter.

The hotel is convenient located in the city. First impression, when entering the hotel, looks like you have entered historical building. Specious reception area warmly welcomes you inside. Spacious room with comfortable bed. In room there is a sitting area and work desk. Friendly staff is ready to help you any time.

A very pretty and traditional building located amongst modern skyscrapers. The rooms were small and compact yet had everything that you would require for a comfortable stay. Staff were very welcoming and spoke excellent English. Within walking distance to a city centre buzzing with culture as well as easy acess to public transport. Only downside is the gym and sauna is male only. No facilities for females.

We check in around 3pm and the room is HOT n stuffy. So we decided to on the AC to 15 degrees and we just went out without taking the card from the room. We came back hotel around 10pm and the room are is still HOT with NO AC. So we went down to reception and asked. They told us that the season now have no AC. But the windows are unable to open. How can we sleep? So the manager came up the room and he also felt the HOT, he asked us to wait for 15mins. After 15mins we feel some AC,guess he went to do something. And I asked for a room changed. He told me that I need to top up USD 60 more per night. Of cause we not paying as is not our fault. Very bad experience with this hotel which is 4 stars. Won't stay again

We originally booked The Commodore for 4 nights, but we were having such a good time in Busan and the hotel that we stayed an extra night. When we'd arrived, we were given a free upgrade from our Standard twin to a Superior Twin, and when we added the extra night, we didn't have to move. We also got a great deal, just £55 a night. The hotel is gloriously decorated, exuberant one might say, the staff are sweeties, it's clean and tidy throughout, we had lightning fast wifi and shedloads of powerpoints in the room, and being on the 12th floor (Room 1219) we had a superb view out over the bay. We also availed of the shuttle to the station, and indeed the indoor pool in the basement. Would definitely go back!
