When we booked the Kensington, I had low expectations. The only rooms available were the "Teddy Bear" themed rooms. I was traveling with my 2 kids, but being in Asia, I was expecting cute overload and cheesy decor. To my pleasant surprise, the room was extremely tasteful - really sophisticated, actually, very comfortable and kid friendly. Kids got separate kid toiletries, slippers, robes. There was a step stool in the bathroom so kids could easily reach sink. The mini bar was free and restocked daily with yummy snacks.
The hotel pool was large, with one section indoors and one section outdoors. Water was warm. We went in June, but it was a bit chilly and rainy when we went, so the water temperature was perfect.
The hotel bar had a huge selection of wines and delicious cocktails. The entertainment was fabulous. They were an Italian couple who could sing and play everything from operatic classics to contemporary favorites. Made the evenings really wonderful.
The hotel is in Jungmung, which is where many of the main tourist attractions and hotels are so close to many restaurants, but not in the middle of the craziness.
I would highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent service. We missed the hotel shuttle so we took the airport shuttle. The walk to the hotel from the bus stop was long as we struggled with our bags walking uphill. On approaching the hotel about 200 m or more away, a hotel staff walked towards us when he saw us and helped us with our bags
Tiffany from Bell Desk(concierge) was excellent. She spoke good English, having worked in Singapore before. She recommended a local eatery that provided us free transport to the venue which allowed us to explore the vicinity with her other recommendations.
All the stuff(can drinks, Carlsberg beer, tidbits, 4 bottles of water) in the fridge is free. They replenish the fridge every day. The only hotel in my experience, does this

The entire ambience of the hotel is very 80s(?). It reminded me of an airport-area hotel I stayed at once in Virginia.
Rooms were super hot & stuffy, with construction going on outside so we couldn't open the door - too loud and dusty. The hotel said we couldn't turn on the AC in April 2014 because they hadn't set AC for the hotel yet for the season. We begged to be switched to another room, which they finally permitted, but the next room was very worn & unrenovated. It WAS slightly cooler, so we were happy about that.
Also, the rooftop pool - my friend and I were kicked out because we were not wearing bathing suits, but just normal shorts & tanks. We had just wanted to lounge, not dip our feet or anything. I thought that was ridiculous.
The main reason I warn others to stay away is that I experienced a personal injury on the hotel's premises (would be considered a severe tort action in the US), but the hotel could not care less. The only thing the manager cared about was sitting me down (freezing cold after being at the ER for hours in shorts & a tank, and getting stitches on my face) to tell me that Kensington would not compensate me in any way. He panicked when I said "lawyer." I had to take an ambulance to the ER which I paid for, but the hotel offered to pick me up, which initially seemed kind; but it was so the manager could get a reading of how to deal with me as soon as we returned to the hotel. I guess he figured it out quickly, because he slept the entire ride back, snoring away.
The hotel also would not show me its tapes of what had occurred, the employees lied to insurance agents about exactly what had happened, and at the time of the accident they also freaked me out by exaggerating my injuries. I thought my injuries were FAR worse because of what they told me.
My biggest request was that the hotel fix the issues I had with their facility - excessively hot rooftop gym that is all glass in direct sunlight with no AC, and having equipment that is actually illegal in other countries because it is dangerous; there are blogs dedicated to this, but they would not listen. My family also asked that they install a help button inside the gym, which they also did not do.
Finally, they did not even offer an apology; the manager did not bother to check on me after informing me on the first day that the hotel was not responsible, and even when I was checking out. My accident occurred on my first morning there, so that the rest of my trip was totally ruined. Not that this is as big of an issue, but the hotel offered 0 comps, no reimbursement of my room fees, etc. Being in the service sector, I would have expected kindness and just some acknowledgement of their contributory negligence and my pain & suffering.

I have travelled extensively over my life and am not one to write many reviews and certainly not negative ones, but as I and my family just checked in today I was compelled to do so because of what was simply a form of racism we experienced at this hotel.
We travelled here to Jeju with another family who are Koreans, making the same booking together. The other family got to the hotel 15 mins before us. We found that the price of the room actually went down after we booked, so the other family asked if there was anything that could be done about it. They were upgraded to a very nice family suite room, about twice the size of the original room with much nicer amenities.
When we arrived a little afterwards, although we were in the exact situation as the other family, we did not receive the same upgrade. The lady at the desk seemed to try to explain that the difference was due to the other family booking a twin bed room whereas we booked a double bed room, but we gladly would have taken the upgrade with two twin beds. It seems she was trying to make this the excuse for not treating us equally as the other family, but it was obvious from her manner and tone that she was not comfortable with us non-Koreans and did not at all try to accommodate us as she had our friends.
It is unfortunate that we are starting our trip with a bad taste in our mouths and having to explain to our four year old why her friend's family was treated better than ours due to the poor service or culture of the staff, although I must admit the hotel amenities themselves are quite nice.
I have travelled extensively over the years and have not felt this before, perhaps it is more dissapointing because my family was involved.
In summary, if you are not Korean think twice about staying here.

My friend and I arrived bit late and apparently all the restaurants in the hotel closed by 9:30 so we didn’t have much food options at the hotel. So we resorted to eating some bread and champagne. They had pool on the top with club music playing. This seemed to be adults only and had Ibiza like feel. Then they also had a pool on the ground floor which was full of families with kids. Thought this was rather an odd mix but good at least they departed the two. While the hotel was decent I didn’t think it was 5 star quality as it was advertised. It would be average 4 star hotel at best in my view.

Swimming pool was awesome. They have a great family pool on the ground floor for families as well as a party type atmosphere pool on the roof. The location was great. The cost was a little high but worth the price. I wish it was a little closer to the ocean though. Although you can see it from the room, it is not too close.

Firstly, let me explain who I am; a 32 year old suit who flies around Asia (almost weekly) for work. Quite a portion of my life is spent on (Star Alliance) planes and in cheaper (Accor or SPG/ Marriott) hotels.
My wife wanted a quick retreat out to Jeju island so instead of the usual mediocre Pullman-esque lodging work puts me up in I ask my wife to book us in at a higher end joint. She, being Korean and having heard positive reviews through the grapevine, went ahead and booked us in at the Kensington hotel.
For around USD250 a night, I was expecting somewhere around the Sofitel to Marriott level of quality and service.
The room is spacious, same size as your average Sofitel room. Clean but dusty. Free goodies in the fridge - block of milk chocolate, 2 beers, 2 san pellegrino flavoured beverages, potato chips and assorted nuts. Nespresso machine with 3 complimentary capsules per day. Good sized working desk, wifi, ample closet with usb chargers built in.
We paid a little extra for a "mountain view" double room but we got an aluminium fence view so they catered to our demand to change to a room with a better view. It was a twin room with a much smaller balcony but the pool view is so much better as you can see from the photos.
The bathroom is spacious with a tub, shower and bidet. It comes with Molton Brown amenities, hair bands, shower cap but they do not provide dental nor shaving kits. This was a huge flaw in its grand scheme. To a hotel hopper, a room rate of US150/ night normally guarantees dental and shaver kits.
Otherwise the hotel or mini-resort is a gem. Indoor/ outdoor pool on ground level for young families and an infinity pool on the rooftop for millennials (no kids allowed). Both are open till midnight. The changerooms are designed like the communal bath houses in korea which have your standard showers, the showers where you sit down, two hot baths (38°C and 40°C), a cold bath (17°C) and a dry sauna (57°C). I recommend you try alternating between the cold and hot tubs to get that blood pumping.
Overall it's ideal for a couples or family retreat, easy to access via complementary airport shuttle service or usd4 bus ride. The initial room they put us in, having to put up with a twin room for our 2 night stay and the absence of shaving and dental kits made it hard for me to give it a 4 star rating. For that price I'll consider other big brands (Lotte, Shilla, Hyatt, etc.) next time I'm in town.

I will start by saying that the property for this hotel is WOW, but it is a 5 to 7 minute walk from the turn into the drive way to the hotel itself. It would be best if you rent a car, or take a taxi/kensington shuttle bus to the front of the property if you have bags. My wife and I took the public bus, which was cheap and quick, but we had to walk a bit with our bags to get to the hotel afterwards. The food at the hotel is amazing, but the ambiance leaves me feeling unsatisfied depending on which place you go to. The Korean traditional food restaurant is amazing. Great service, calming atmosphere, and delicious food. They also have a drink tasting menu as well for those that want to experience a variety of Korean liquors. The Italian restaurant has great food, but since its on the roof it seems that not many people go there, and you will likely be in a largely empty restaurant. This would be nice for a romantic lunch, but the music is not romantic actually, and is usually heavy dance music that you would expect at the champagne bar across the roof from the restaurant, so that ruins the mood. The view is excellent, however. The buffet restaurant which you need to walk through to get to the Korean restaurant is almost always packed, and has a great selection of foods. I would recommend this for breakfast. The rooms are very very nice, and the oceanfinity pool is large and fun. I didn't make my way over to the skyfinity pool because it wasn't really my scene. It seemed kinda clubish. There is table service at the oceanfinity pool however, and a sauna as well. I think this hotel does a great job catering to young families with great room selections for groups, and lots of summer activities for kids. While the kids are busy, parents can relax in jacuzzis, or go to bars/restaurants all of which have different vibes from party to fancy to fancy-party.
I would highly recommend this hotel as a great experience on Jeju island.

For those who's self-driving to this hotel - its NOT on any maps or GPS. The entrance to the hotel is just opposite the Lotte Jungmum hotel. You can point yourself to the Lotte Jungmun hotel and turn right when you're at the junction. It's up the hill and you can't go wrong from there. Check-in was quick and efficient, in fact - the bellboy was already expecting us when we stopped there. Luggage disappeared from our car in an instant and re-appeared when we reach our room. Very nice and clean rooms, beds are good and comfy. There's even a Nespresso coffee machine in the room. The minibar's free and include beers and snacks which are replenished daily. The indoor swimming pool was heated and connects to an outdoor pool (heated too) which allows us to dip outdoor even in winter. The downside to the hotel is that there is limited dining options for families - a seafood buffet restaurant, a traditional korean restaurant and an Italian restaurant (which we weren't keen to visit). If you dont self-drive around, be prepared to walk up and down the hill to reach the main resort area.

2. Yes, they do have airport transfer. Several times a day. You can check the timetable at the website;)
on my last trip there, I rented a car. Taxi would be quite expensive. Im certain that buses are available to that area but not Hotel's. you can email the Hotel and double check your options. Good Luck!
