Called on afternoon for tea.....amazing. The scones, cream and jam were to die for...so fresh and tasty. Then the sandwiches, pastries and cake were amazing. Had a really professional young guy serving us....a credit to the hotel. When in Galle....go spoil yourselves...its an experience to remember.

My husband and I spent a day in galle and stopped here for lunch. The club sandwich was delicious and it was a great place to sit with a g&t in a colonial style environment. Would return on our next visit.

We visited here for afternoon tea while in the area and wow, what a treat! Although the other hotels and restaurants we visited were nice, this was indeed a step up. We had afternoon tea on the veranda restaurant. Although (as some other reviews have mentioned) there is a road outside and some vehicles do park up with engines running,...

I had the privilege of spending a couple of days recently at the old Fort of Galle. We chose to stay in Amangalla located within the Fort complex. Aman took over and beautifully restored the "New Oriental Hotel" which lies close to one of the main gates of the Fort. Unfortunately, I assume due to conservation regulations, they had to...

This wonderful hotel has always held a special place in my heart. I am pleased to report that it remains very special indeed. This beautifully restored grand hotel is absolutely wonderful. My Suite was so well appointed and immaculate. The service levels here are excellent. My butler, Nalin, was ever present and the essence of perfect service. Kudos to the...

My wife & I stayed here for 2 nights during our journey through Southwest Sri Lanka. The hotel is in the "Fort" area of Galle which a world heritage site. The hotel is a destination in itself as it is a historic building. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The lobby, pool and lounge areas beg to spend a...

After four days in the tea trails, we are booked in to three days at the Amangalla, one of two hotels run by the Aman group. The beauty of the hotel is in its resistance to cram the building full of rooms (only 28 rooms where it could easily accommodate half as many again) and to maintain the richly wooded...

We only stayed one night in the Amangalla Hotel but it was long enough to experience first class service, friendliness and gorgeous food. The pool is beautiful and the rooms are spotless and full of character. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and it has inspired me to check out other Aman hotels on the web.

The historic main building within the fort area has been beautifully redone. And obviously the location could not be better, on the highest area of the fort area and near everything, but more open than some places so good breezes. The long porch at the front of the hotel for meals, tea or drinks is gorgeous and cool during the...

A really beautiful renovation of an iconic colonial hotel. Room outstanding. Lobby and verandah area worth a detour ( and used by loads of non residents which makes for congestion). Pool serene. Incomprehensible staff assignments so several people ask your order then forget to pass on this info while you wait. Unbelievably slow and erratic service results. A minor irritant...
