I loved this hotel, just inside the ramparts and lovely in its colonial details that run back to the Portugese, through the Dutch and the British. My room was pristine with dark wood floors and white linens, writing desk and a view over tiled roof tops to a snatch of the ocean. Couples might prefer the larger, even more luxurious...

Feeling like in good old times. We had the luck to be guest under the long Managing Director who had to went to Venice for the Aman Group. She was like the Owner of the house and made it more than special. It was a wondrful stay and from the first second we felt like beeing at home far away...

We spent three nights at the hotel. Our room, number 9, was on the top floor, making a good location for watching the sunset. The staff were really helpful, the musicians who played in the evening enjoyed our kind of music. We enjoyed the food and the afternoon tea. The location is great for exploring the fort. The pool is...

We stated at Amangalla in order to visit the old fortress town of Galle and were delighted with our choice. The room was very comfortable, the food was delicious and varied and we loved the afternoon cream teas. When we wanted to eat out in a typical Sri Lankan restaurant our butler recommended one. In the morning the pool supervisor...

From the moment we stepped into this 300 year old mansion we knew we were home. The mansion, on the main road just inside the fort walls, is full of antiques and history. Manager Korovilas immediately took us on an interesting historical tour of the property with its huge gathering rooms and libraries filled with historical memorabilia and books on...

The location couldn't have been better - easy walks along ancient streets with lovely old buildings. The manager welcomed us and said goodby when we left. Our room was large, comfortable and quiet even though there was a book festival outside. The restaurant was lovely, the food delicious, and the service prompt and professional. This is part of the "Aman"...

We are not by any means Aman junkies, but if we happen to be visiting on a trip where an Aman is located, I always try to stay because I know it will be an experience, not just a hotel. This is no exception in Galle. As usual it is located in a historic building, with no outside evidence that...

Great entrance with verandah which is also used for drinks and dinner. The service was impeccable and the food delicious. Our room ( or suite ) included a lovely sitting room and a large luxurious bathroom . Add to that a great spa plus an old fashioned barber who gave me a wet shave together with a lovely secluded and...

I think the bed here was the most comfortable I have ever slept in in a hotel! The hotel was very smart and beautifully decorated, while retaining a sense of history. Our room, bathroom and sitting room were huge and elegant with a calm atmosphere. The staff were unfailingly polite and helpful. We ate in the restaurant several times and...
