My wife and I spent two nights at Lanjia Lodge. This was a highlight of our 5-week trip to southeast Asia. We found the booking and coordination with the Asian Oasis staff to be extremely easy, and they were very helpful with answering our questions and making arrangements for us regarding our travel. We took a bus from Chiang Mai...

Lanjia Lodge was a highlight of our trip. The accommodations were much nicer than we expected--very comfortable, clean and with beautiful views. The staff were amazing! There were always cheerful people on hand to assist in any way needed. The food was also excellent. The highlight was the day we spent visiting the two villages around the lodge. We really...

What a lovely place - and such nice people. Much more rustic than other places, but accommodations more than adequate. Wonderful local meals served on a beautiful deck shared with a few other guests. Visits to local villages a highlight. One of the most interesting places on this trip

We spent two days and one night at the Lodge. It was very memorable. The individual cottages are set on the hillside providing a spectacular view of the valley and river below. The cottages are certainly rustic but the showers were hot and the beds comfortable. All the meals were very good and the service was very friendly and attentive....

We recently stayed 1 night at the Lodge on our way to Laos. Accommodation is basic but perfectly adequate. Comfortable bed and good shower. The views were great and the food was very tasty. Our highlight was a walk through the local villages visiting the Shaman.

This is definitely a must if your are travelling to the far north of Thailand and you wish to experience some off the beaten path travel. The rooms are basic but utterly amazing and will offer one of the best views to the Mekong river and Laos at a distance. Moreover, the locals that work in the lodge are kind...

We stayed 2 relaxing nights at this quaint little lodge. It is very clean but keep in mind you are not in a modern hotel. It's made completely of bamboo but is vey well done. We had a wonderful young couple look after all our needs and I have to say they where flawless. The food was very genuine Thai...

Lanjia Lodge is a perfect place to unplug for a few days while also getting a sense of a 'slice of life' of the people in the hill tribes near by. The staff provide excellent service and the handwork for sale that is made by the locals is exquisite and very well priced. It is also clear that this Lodge...

No mod cons here but that's not what its about. It's set 2000ft above the Mekong River with views over to Laos. It has won awards for community based tourism. We had a go at doing batik and had a guided tour of the village meeting the Hmong and Lahu tribes and their respective shamans (spirit doctors). We also went...

My wife and I did Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Chiang Rai following the complete "Thailand experience" and I wanted a couple of quiet days before returning to work so thought the Lanjia Lodge would fit the bill. It met that criteria very well as the lodge is set up in the hills where the only noise you hear are crickets...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Lanjia, or 'peaceful' in Hmong language, is an eco-friendly community-based lodge nestled high on a hill in Chiang Rai Province, northern Thailand. Offering dramatic vistas of the Mekong Valley and Laos, it is in complete harmony with the lush green environment as well as the Hmong and Lahu villages in which it is located. Your hosts at the Lanjia Lodge are the proud Hmong and Lahu villagers who take care of all visitors and all activities at the lodge during your stay. All visitors are taken on personal tours of the villages where they can freely intermingle and even meet the local shamans. Contributions from your stay will be used on community projects that will improve the local hill tribe people's living conditions. A variety of packages is available, all of which have been created to give you an insight into the culture of the Hmong and Lahu people. Choose from trekking tours, a boat ride on the mighty Mekong River or a visit to the nearby Golden Triangle. The lodge is only 30 minute drive to the Thailand-Laos border and immigration check-point where many tourists board an overnight boat to the world heritage site of Luang Prabang, Laos. There is no public transportation between Lanjia Lodge and the border. We can arrange a car or a van for guests who stay at the lodge and continue their trip to Luang Prabang. Our prices include accommodation in comfortable king-size or twin bedded rooms with en-suite bathrooms (where applicable), electric fans (non air-conditioned), meals and drinks as specified in the programs, as well as English speaking tour/activity guides. ... more   less
