We just spent 2 nights at the lovely Hua Hin Marriott. To start with the staff was great; from check-in to check-out the staff was knowledgeable, warm and kind. The room was immaculate and well fitted. We had an ocean view room with a balcony...More
This hotel has only been open for 1 year.
Great location near town and directly onto beach.
There is a pool which is like a river, some of the ground floor rooms can access this directly so not for small children.

I did not use them myself but there were wind surfers all along the beach, I was interested in them because of the great colourful photos on a cloudless day. It was beautiful to watch. The beach goes for miles in bothe directions and is not crowded, light warm winds makes it perfect for wind surfers. Not sure if you can acquire one at the Marriott but most definitely can get them all along the beach.

Hi. We also stayed at the JW Marriot in Khao Lak a couple of years ago, and Hua Hin is quite different. The grounds of the resort in Hua Hin are much smaller than the one in Khao Lak, and thre are a lot of other resorts on the same beach/same area. And Hua Hin is a lot more built up, the beach isn't as "tropical"/idyllic. I would say that Khao Lak is a lot more like the "typical picture perfect idyllic beach resort of Thailand", where as Hua Hin is more industrial. However, with that said, I think the Marriott in Hua Hin is an excellent choice if you are to chose a resort in Hua Hin. It is newly refurbished, and the quality is very good. But be prepared for more people/less space than Khao Lak. We combined a week in Hua Hin with a 4day trip of sightseeing, seeing the River Kwai (and the bridge), staying on a floating hotel on the river (beautiful!), visiting floating- and trainmarked, and Bangkok. Turned out to be a very good combination of sightseeing and relaxation. And Hua Hin sort of "grew on us" during our week there. Plenty of things to see and do, just not the typical picture perfect Thai beach kind of place. Take the seasons in consideration while travelling. In the rainy season the weather is still quite good in Hua Hin, whereas it will rain a lot in Krabi/Phuket/Khao Lak.
