Dennis is an awesome host. Staying at Xanadu (as opposed to the town center) is a no-brainer if you have your own transport, since it's so nice and quiet out there. Even if you don't have your own transport, you can get taken to/from town center for 200 baht (if I remember correctly - I didn't actually use this option)....

Adorable bungalows with ample space, clean, peaceful atmosphere on lovely manicured grounds on the river. We sat on the deck overlooking the river in the evening and morning enjoying the peacefulness of the river and wildlife. We had two rooms that were adjoining for our family of 4. Thai breakfast was delicious. Dennis was always around to answer questions and...

Dennis and his wife are the most lovely, welcoming people and this place was good value. Rooms were clean, comfortable and a decent size too - plenty of room for an extra bed. Good location - 8KM out of town, right by the river. Easy to drive into town or go by taxi, truck or songtaew. Superb cycling routes nearby....

Xanadu has very nice bungalows and a good pool. The owner Dennis is the best host I have ever met and his wife Nee is the best cook of Thailand. Xanadu is the perfect place to stay and from which you can make the must do trips to ElephantWorld and Erawan waterfalls. Dennis can organize a very reliable taxidriver and...

OK folks you can forget previous comments, this place isn't worth the stay anymore. Why? 1. Nee is not very well, but continues to put a brave face on, she is virtually running the place on her own. 2. Dennis doesn't appear to be around anymore as the place is in need of some desperate maintenance. 3. The pool was...

Very personal attack from someone i have never met.Where do i start. The pool and gardens were not so good as we had just had 2 massive storms causing a lot of damage and debris. The damage was that bad we are demolishing one building. The pool is cleaned thoroughly every 1 or 2 days.We were not busy as we had planned a...

We were a party of 8, and stayed at Xanadu 2008 two weeks ago. Our purpose for the visit to Kanchanaburi was to see the famous Erawan Falls, and the Open Safari and Zoo nearby. Well before arriving in Thailand, Dennis (the owner of Xanadu) helped us with everything we possibly needed. He arranged for us a private minibus +...

I had visited Xanadu in June 2013 as part of our trip to Thailand. Wanting to do an offbeat take on a place which is heavily visited by tourists from all corners of the globe, we zeroed in on Kanchanaburi and the enchanting pictures of Xanadu2008 captured our hearts; we were not disappointed with the actual visit. The property almost...

We (family and i kid) and a friend of us stayed there for 2 nights. The resort is directly on the River Khwai, the rooms are nice and clean, the pool has a perfect size to cool down on hot days. Dennis the owner is very welcoming, always good for a chat or a beer and he will give you...

Great setting but quite a way out of town. Friendly host. Clean room. Helpful in booking transport. Did not eat at the restaurant so cannot comment. Had no interaction with staff beyond the owner. My problem was that I had booked and paid for two nights. We got held up in Bangkok so I emailed and rang the owner saying...
