Firstly the ‘Baya Hotel’ isn’t actually a hotel, it’s a building site with wires hanging out of the ceiling and bags of cement piled up the walls. All the pictures are from a finished room and a heavily edited picture of the pool from another building. The company own 5 buildings, each in varying stages of decay, and you can be put in any of them. Our trip started by our room being given to another group, so we were given a room in a different building on the 5th floor with no elevator or WiFi. The staff were very unhelpful when we asked for a new room, first they asked us to wait while they checked, which they didn’t. Then when we asked again the manager said she would check and asked us to come back the next day, which we did but she hadn’t written down any details and also forget to check. The third time they did check and showed us to another building where the broken stairs were supported by barrels of water. Needless to say we declined. Aside from the mould, leaking air conditioner, walking to another building to use the pool, and general rundown atmosphere, the fact that none of the staff seem to know what is included in their own buildings is very frustrating. We were told multiple times that WiFi was included, but the WiFi network simply didn’t exist which we told reception. They finally checked on the third day, with the maids at that building, and apologised that our floor didn’t have WiFi. All in all a cheap but very unpleasant stay. Highly not recommended!

This hotel had a perfect location, with just a 5 minute walk to Patong beach and a 20 ish minute walk to Bangla road. The room itself was clean and spacious, with a nice bathroom too. The rooftop pool was lovely and big, and the area surrounding it was great to relax in. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially with booking a transfer to the airport- with a much cheaper price than getting a grab for example! Overall a very pleasant and affordable stay.

I've been asking to wait for more than 20min straight away on my arrival at the lobby because the receptionist was managing a check-out (at 6:30pm ?!?! while checkout are supposed to be at 12). I've been informed that because of this late check-out, my room was not yet ready! Then, after another 15min additional wait, I've been informed that the hotel has finally been overbooked due to a wrong management and that they had no room for me but were on going to find a solution!!! After another 15min, Alleluia! The room was ready! BUT.. surprise! not at all what I had booked! 2 smalls bed instead of 1 big ! The manager (a foreign lady) informed me that they don't have big bed and that they have nothing else to offer to me,... all that with a contemptuous tone and impolite attitude. I tried to make it nice accepting the room for the 1st night but wishing to change for the next ones, the response has been a NO said with insolent attitude ! I finally cancelled my booking and moved away from this cheated hotel. Additionally, while waiting in the lobby, seeing my issue, a guy started to talk with me and has been complaining to me because the hotel asked him to pay 900 THB for a stained towel (make up) while the price for this issue is usually 300 THB in other hotel around. I really advise you to stay away from this place.
