The room we had was a good size, was clean and smelt fresh when we walked in, the bed was very comfortable. The shower hose should be replaced it was like a hose. It was disappointing that the Fresco restaurant was closed as the others that were open in Mae Pim were mainly seafood ones and for what was on offer were expensive.
Breakfast at the hotel was a good one.
The locals do like to hit the beach with pick up music at a high level n the evenings.
Mae Pim is a lovely safe family beach, such a pity it was so dirty with polystyrene, plastics and assorted other rubbish that the tide had dumped there and no one seemed to be bothered to clean the place up, not sure we will be back.

We had nice rooms overlooking the beach and the main street but there were some issues with cleanliness. Hair on the sink and a can used as an ashtray left on the balcony. No safety box and the A/C was not very efficient.
The pool area is quite nice, but there are only a few sunloungers. The pool bar served tasty thai dishes but would be nice to have even a couple of more drink options than just Chang and some sodas.
Breakfast was ok but so full of customers that we had to wait for a table for about 15 minutes. The staff was friendly but only one of the ladies in the reception spoke english. Location of the hotel is good, very central in Mae Pim.
Nothing to do with the hotel but keep in mind if going to Mae Pim; there are no pharmacies/drug stores there. The nearest one is about 5 km away. Just saying, since usually you find them in every (touristy) village in Thailand.
We didn't go to the beach 'cos there were warning signs about sandflys that bite painfully.
Anyways, Mae Pim Resort is quite basic, oldish, hotel but good value for money.

Have stayed here many times over the years but its not what it was I am afraid to say. the price has gone up and the offer has gone down, cheap plastic cups in the room and no towels at the swimming pool. Not surprised that the hotel was almost empty.

We stayed in the Mae Pimm for two nights on our way to Ko Samed. The exterior of the hotel is shabby and dated and doesn't really promise comfortable accommodation, so we shouldn't really have been surprised with the interior. Staying in a double room, I was initially disappointed with the quality of the furnishings and the worn decor, these rooms definitely need refurbishment. However, I have to say that the air con was really effective and I slept extremely well in the spotlessly clean bed. We had a sea view room with a balcony too small to even place a chair on, so it was a waste of time really. The room service staff knocked you up out of bed before nine am each day, wanting to clean the room - not what you want when on holiday. Breakfast was served in a surprisingly elegant dining room but was mediocre in quality and not really worth getting up for. There was a vast amount of building work being carried out that was inevitably noisy and which disturbed our sleep early mornings. Hotel reception staff were not particularly helpful and appeared disinterested in the needs of hotel guests, which we were surprised at. Although I think it has potential, I wouldn't hurry back to the Mae Pimm Resort and wouldn't recommend it to friends.

I went with my finacee to this hotel in March 2012.

On the positive side, it was cheap, the staff were very nice, the room was very comfortable, and the breakfast was also very nice with plenty to eat. I read a previous review about a really nice mother and her twins at breakfast. We also got great treatment from this person and treated us very well. The hotel offered free internet (a huge plus for me), and the channels on the TV gave a good selection. There are many restaurants not far from the hotel and you can eat many different types of food. We also ate each day on the beach restaurants (like tents on the sand), but the food was very tasty.

But on a less positive note, our room was a "Superior Sea View", but we could not see the sea at all. The beach was only across the road but we could only see the very high trees and market stalls (market restaurants etc). I did not find the area particularly attractive and there was sometimes (and only sometimes I want to stress) quite a strong smell coming from somewhere outside (not sure what the smell was... and don't want to know). But the biggest drawback was that there was no pool! This meant that we only had our room to retreat to when we came back to the hotel.

But keep an eye on this hotel. We saw the plans for the new hotel as well as what they have done so far. When finished, it looks like it will be a really nice HUGE hotel and appears to then be definitely worth a visit. The new pool is very large and deep and there look to be many lovely new rooms planned. We may make a trip back after it has been finished.

Be prepared for a very long taxi ride from the Bangkok bus terminus (Bun Pae) (about 30 mins I think... maybe more). But it only costs 60 baht each I think, so can't complain there.

We previously stayed in the Villa Bali Resort, and had such a bad experience - no shower for 5 days and cockroaches crawling everywhere-even up my legs when I was having a shower -when it worked!! The location of Mae Pim Resort Hotel is out of this world, we had a corner room with a massive balcony - it was breathtaking - the breakfast was okay, a lot of choices, but not really what I liked, but not the worst I've ever had. The Staff were all good, we spoke to everyone at breakfast even one of the family members with her twins, the family couldn't do enough for us, and even asked us to write to them! The beach is beautiful, it was New Year in Thailand when we were there, and this is where the locals go on holiday. The food is so fresh, we love seafood, and the fishermen bring their catches to the beach in the morning to sell in the local market, so the food on the beach is the best in Thailand. The nightlife is mainly Restauants with some music, but the locals like singing in the bar next to the Villas Bali, we went a couple of times, and were welcomed with open arms, it was like being at home, we joined the locals and had a really good time.

We arrived at Mae Phim Resort on the first day of Songkran. The taxi drive took an hour longer from Ban Chang than normal due to all pick-up trucks and water fights. Check-in was a breeze and we were in our room within five minutes upon arrival. The hotel has three different buildings and our room was on the corner of the second floor on the middle building. A perfect choice as you have a sea view from a really big balcony but also have only a few steps to the nice pool area and the gym at the back.

The beds, like in other places we stayed, were hard but comfortably so. Your mileage may vary. Bathroom was nice and we had no complaints whatsoever regarding the shower. The fridge in the room is big enough to store basically anything you get from a nearby minimart. The air-conditioning is perhaps a slightly misplaced as it blows straight to the bed but at least the room was never too hot.

The pool is large and has a real deep-end (3 meters), too. Towels are available at the pool and the staff’s happy to serve you food from the restaurant at reasonable prices. The gym is very well equipped and available also to non-guests for a fee. There’s also a steam room and a sauna, the latter of which we tried and found really good despite its diminutive size.

Breakfast is served at ground floor in the middle building. Adequate but not special and again it surprised at that no matter how early or late we arrived the Thai dishes were practically cold. They had an omelette station, though, staffed by really friendly young cooks.

The beach is right across the street and stretches far, providing a relaxing walking opportunity on the fine grained white sand. During our stay, both the beach and the water were reasonably clean to have a lie down and a swim. During Songkran, shaded sunbeams were available for 30 baht, but after the festivities they were all gone.

If you need to go to Ban Phe or Rayong, a public taxi goes by the hotel. The receptionist asked the security staff to stop the taxi and we got on. You pay for the trip once you reach your destination. Trip to Ban Phe costs 30 baht a person.

Everyday we watched the fishermen to return from the sea and unload their catch. Hence, fresh seafood is widely available and popular too in Laem Mae Phim. All the restaurants seem like one another with the water tanks outside but we found Pla-O Restaurant to be our particular favourite. Once, after our meal, the owner came after us with a scooter to return some change because his daughter had charged us too much in error. How much you may ask? 80 baht. Of course, we wanted to reward his honesty with yet another repeat visit.

As stated in the beginning, Songkran water festival was full on when we arrived and there were thousands of Thais in the beach. A week later, the beach was practically deserted with just a handful of people. So, it’s a bit hard to say what Laem Mae Phim is normally like.

We were looking forward to doing some boat trips from Laem Mae Phim. However, because of us visiting during Songran and at the end of the season, trips were hard to come by. Both Undiscovered Thailand which operates from Villa Bali and a Swedish diving company that we found were neither present or requested a minimum of ten people. Finally, we were lucky to find a boat trip organised by ToyTours. They can be found at a liqueur store (a few minutes to left from the hotel) or a few minutes further away at TheToyResort. We paid 590 baht a person for a boat trip to Turtle Island, where we visited the sanctuary, and a couple of snorkelling sites. The tour included a meal and drinks and some fruit and all the snorkelling equipment). English wasn't really the team’s strong suit (all the other people, 50 or so, were Thais) but they tried their best to tell us about the turtles and the things at the island. Snorkelling itself was bit crowded an affair even though not every one joined in. However, we were quite happy with the tour and can recommend them, too.

Stayed 3 nights in October 2014, and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the stay. Helpful staff, great sea view, clean rooms, good breakfast buffet. The pool area is just fabulous, and the car parking (outdoor) 50 meters into soi seemed well surveilled. The lack of safe deposit box in room was compensated by staff taking care of our laptops/iPads/camera gear every time we went out of the hotel, always with a smile. Wifi worked as expected - not super fast but ok.

I'd definitely recommend this hotel to family / friends, and I'd love to come back.

There is not much local transport from what I have seen, if you don't have your own transport it might be difficult, there seems to be a song teau to Klaeng about every hour but would rely on it and there is little there. Rayong is about an hour to the west
