Decided on a quick visit to the Novotel Rayong Star Convention Center over one of the long weekends in May, as a base for attending a motoring event in Pattaya, as it will be less crowded and hectic and also to see for ourselves if any changes have taken place since our last visit over Christmas. Noted that the occupancy rate is higher, but the friendliness and welcome to guests is maintained. Check in process was quick as seamless as we remember and the it was great to note that most of the team members are still present and upholding the standard of hospitality; but was baffled by our room not being ready (story on this later). Also caught up with the GM whom we met briefly the last visit when he just took over the operation from his predecessor charged with setting up and starting the hotel operation. Good to see he has settled in and implementing new initiatives. Also met the newly appointed F & B manager who also took over from his predecessor charged with the starting up, was keenly into his job and engaging with his staff. It is great that management had rectified the previous problem we brought up of the permeation of the cooking throughout the entire public area due to the open plan design of the ground floor encompassing the large central entry foyer cum reception area, an all-day “Food Exchange” restaurant, flowing into the “After 8” public bar area. The open kitchen still turns out the substantial and delicious buffet breakfast spread and adequate a la carte menu selection of western, Thai and Chinese dishes. They have added new menu items and a weekend dim sum buffet. The management and staff are still very engaging with guests and share the feedback in an effort to improve. We were given the access to the room after lunch and was surprised with a small cake and birthday wishes in the room, in addition to the usual amenity offering. There was no holding back of the birthday wishes after that. We ordered a cake which was in the form of preparing/decorating a pavlova and meringue nests for the occasion and celebrate and share with the management and staff which we have come to know. The pavlova and meringue nests were brought out accompanied singing. A very memorable birthday and one I shall remember as it also reminded of the year before when the Sofitel Seoul team sprung a similar birthday surprise during our visit then. This was a very enjoyable stay and having just returned from Paris 3 days earlier and stayed at a couple of the Accor hotels there, I can only say that the experience and facilities and privileges for members in Accor hotels of every tier in the Asia Pacific and Oceana beyond doubt the best and way ahead. Novotel's best hotel in Thailand? very nice hotel, welcoming staff from check-in, house keeping, restaurant staff. as a Platinum member upgraded to large nice room junior suite I would say. Very good breakfast with a large selection and quality. there is a small gym, children's room and playground. very nice pool area with lots of sun. executive lounge not open yet, but canapes and drinks were served at the bar, you got a ready tray and they offered refills several times. the hotel is located in the middle of rayong city, if you want to go to the sea it is a taxi ride, near the hotel there is a food market and a nice night market. hairdressers and massage salons there are many haircuts 200 bath foot massage 250 significantly cheaper than Bangkok. perfect hotel to recover from jet lag before further travel to eg Koh Chang, Koh Samet... there is an aquarium nearby if you want an excursion. Will definitely visit this hotel which is great value.

The room was very very comfortable, clean and tidy. So nice breakfast and variety. Swimming pool and Kids club very family friendly. Staff were very attentive and accommodating, especially Banana 🍌 who goes above and beyond to make our stay exceptional and memorable. This resort-like city hotel under Novotel brand is a new iconic hotel in the area. Located in the vibrant city of Rayong, 45 minutes drive from Pattaya or 2.45 hrs from Bangkok. **Strengths** + Fresh New Hotel + Modern design + Spacious room with comfy bed and pillows + Aromatic scented bathroom amenities + Good vibe restaurants and bar + Relaxing facilities like Swimming pool & Gym **Rooms for improvement** - Service Standards: No guest recognition upon arrival - Food quality at Breakfast: Chicken bologna at the Japanese corner is way too salty. - Food image: my omelette is way too flattened. It should be served in a fluffy look like it should be. - Food option at Breakfast: Limited choice of tea. As far as I know, there should be at least 3 options for tea served in the restaurant under a 4-star hotel.
This is the reason behind the 4-star review 😊 Hope to see the improvement when I return for the second time.

Check-in:not personalised,no welcome drink,no escort to the suite. The suite:84 sqm on itself excellent.White paint splatters on showerwall and on sink.Strangely enough no safe to find!Reception pretended there is one and we have to look again!After two more tel.calls I went down to the reception and not too friendly they offered to change suite.In the new suite the safe was free standing and not attached to the wall so anybody could walk away with it. Executive lounge:not operating so executive lounge services at the After 8 Bar&Lounge on level 1.The red wine we asked for was served ice cold=no taste at all.The canapes were not tasty at all and substandard.Later that evening I had stomach cramps.Second evening in bar: for us no red wine and no canapes! Breakfast first day:cheese triangles were swimming in ice water.Cappuccino (coffee machine):consisted of only water(no coffee)and milk foam.More asian food. Location:excellent near big fresh market,night bazaar and Lotus department store.A thirty minutes walk to the sea. Check-out:rapid an friendly as well as the luggage collection from the room.

The room was very nice and clean. Good staff and service. We reserved a double bed room and requested to change to a twin bed, then staff responded immediately. Breakfast is diverse and delicious. However, what I like most is that swimming pool open until 10 p.m.

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights. The staff treated us very well that makes us feel we were at home.
The room was clean and well furnished with comfortable bed.
The breakfast was great with a good spread of food and the meals in the restaurant were delicious.
The hotel location is great and very near to the fresh food market, night market and Lotus supermarket. There are numerous shops and restaurants nearby.
Close to the beach and also other attractions.
Will definitely be coming back and stay in the hotel again next year.
Finally, we express our gratitude to Richard TT and his wonderful staff for taking care of us during our 5 night stay.

Front desk staff very functional and good empathy. They worked very quickly for customer engagement and always contribute trust to customer. They always provide quick information and never say no to customer request. Absolutely, my family very enjoyed with our stayed. We love kids club and swimming pool. It’s very clean and safe for our kids. The facilities and amenities in guest room was very well prepared. Pillow and bed very clean, soft and comfortable. Bathroom amenities was full option! That no need to bring anything because the hotel has already prepared for us- Thank you😘 Staff at swimming bar or breakfast also super! We can’t wait to see you on our next vacation-:)
