I stayed here for a long weekend in December 2020. The rooms are large and a great balcony with stunning sea views. The stay did not go well for a number of reasons, poor service, Internet not working, room filthy, room old, no shower curtain (so bathroom flooded after each shower, poor quality breakfast. As part of the Internet issue, I met the Resident Manager and she seemed to be proactive and practical. Although it took about five hours, she did manage to resolve the problem. Upon check-out, I bumped into her and she already knew that I was not happy with the stay but she talked well and offered an olive branch, to say that if I return, to book a room and then write to her, she would then 'take care of us'. In March, I decided to give this place one more try, so booked a room and wrote to the Resident Manager to take advantage of her offer to 'take care of us'. I wanted Building B as it has the best views and was told it was full (I later found out that it is being renovated, but they decided that lying was better than the simple truth). I had booked direct as that is what the Resident Manager has asked. This was at a higher price than I can get on Agoda, but I was expecting that 'take care of you' would comprise the usual Hotel Management offer, perhaps a room upgrade, or a free drink, or a free dinner etc. Upon check-in, no indication of how we would be 'looked after. So, went to the room, and wow! It was in worse condition than the room in December and, was utterly filthy. I called the Lobby and asked to see the Resident Manager. She came to the room and without even looking at how dirty the room was, immediately said 'yesterday there was a strong wind and it may have blown some duct under the door'. I pointed out that the filthy floor was caused by not being cleaned properly for many months. When she looked at the mess, she agreed and took her own photographs. Still no shower curtains fitted, woodwork filthy, rusty fittings in the bathroom etc. I pointed out that the room was unacceptable and she said that all of the rooms are the same age. I pointed out that the age of the room had no bearing on floor cleanliness. Her response was 'if you want to leave now I will refund you'! Superb Customer Service style. I will never set foot in this place again and I cannot recommend anything except the view. Some friends recently stayed at the Lord Nelson which is not far away, I will try that next time.

Old and experience hotel. We spend 2 nights on this hotel. Main pool is out of order, rooms have problems with AC and not great breakfast... If I will visit again, absolutely not. To experience for this standard

Stayed in Royal Phala Cliff Beach Resort for 2 nights of business travel. As it's a business travel, the main criteria for the hotel is the vicinity with the company in the area. And this is supposed to be the "best" hotel in the area. Upon arrival, the building looked impressive with open air lobby and good lighting. But what good initial impression I had, immediately disappear upon entering the room. Based on other reviews, I was perhaps lucky to be placed in the main building as it's easily accessible with better furnishing condition. But even then, the condition easily falls in under maintained. While the room is large (and clean as far as I saw, but I dared not to try to look into details), to say that it doesn't have enough lighting is an understatement. The spotlight above the Television was broken and I asked them to change it before leaving for dinner. Upon returning, they put a table lamp in front of the TV...which made me suspect the problem was not with the lighting bulb but perhaps on the cabling or light switch. The TV only have local channels. The bathroom, while again, it's clean, looks really outdated with no barrier for shower, making the bathroom floor prone to getting all wet. To top it off, there seemed to be no hot water (same condition with my colleagues in 3 other rooms). Breakfast was standard, enough quantity, edible, but nothing special. While I do appreciate the staffs that seemed to help as best as they could, Royal Phala Cliff must really improve on upkeep or risk further plunging into the cycle of declining guests-income-maintenance budget.

Upon arrival we were asked if we wanted an upgrade, that set the alarm bells ringing ,we decided to check the original room that was booked ( an annex on the beach with no direct access to the beach with very poor to no WiFi )and the upgrade room (main building)the original rooms were ok but an absolute pain to get too with lots of stairs ,a bridge and a lift to negotiate, the air conditioning in the original looked fairly new and the room had a decent view,we decided to view the upgrade which was a lot bigger and closer to the restaurant, pool and car park, we decided to go for the upgrade and pay the extra, the beds were comfortable and big, there was only 1 internal ceiling light which was in the corner of the room ( weird) no bedside lighting at all, so making the room very dark-at night ,the air conditioning was probably the original and although cool enough it was very noisy ,the bathroom had no toilet or tissue paper. The hotel itself has obviously seen better days and has been left to deteriorate for quite some time judging by the paint work and condition of the furniture . The swimming pool has issues with quite a few missing tiles, green algae and very poor condition duck boards around the pool which could be dangerous . There are cigarette stumps all around because of no ash trays and all the plant pots have cigarette stumps in them ,the one’s in the photo have been there for 3 days . Breakfast was ok and catered for most people there but again all the tissue dispensers on the tables were empty. We found the staff to be very nice and helpful with the exception of one lady in the restaurant who was quite rude to my wife and myself ,after finishing my dinner on our second evening I requested to charge the dinner to my room and she said “no you pay now “and brought the bill straight away and just stood next to me,I then had to phone my wife and ask her to come down from the room to pay for the dinner in cash ,the lady disappeared before my wife arrived and paid the cashier, the following morning I was eating breakfast and the same lady asked me if my wife was coming down for breakfast,i said that she was to which she replied she had better come quickly as breakfast was finished at 10 am,my wife duly arrived and the lady went straight to my wife and asked her if she had paid for my dinner the night before, she then informed her she better be quick to get breakfast as the restaurant was stopping at 10am ,my wife had to inform her that the time was actually 8.45am so why the fuss? There are a lot of issues with this hotel and I’m sure it would be an enormous and expensive task to return this hotel to its former glory ( fantastic position on the beach). This is the worst hotel we have ever stayed at in Thailand!

this hotel was below my expectation! If you can see the photos, looks fantastic, but room actually sucks! They placed us in the room fronting the beach. The room door was made of cheap wood that is so easy to break with one kick. This is a hotel but the room looks like a cheap guesthouse. Aside from this, when you go to the balcony, mosquitoes are everywhere. So make sure to apply repellant. The surroundings are dirty. Not recommended especially the rooms fronting the beach. Staffs were not so helpful. Wifi was so slow. One more thing, hard to book taxi since it is far from the main road. Thumbs down!!! Dont expect too much if you plan to book in this hotel. (Only their buffet breakfast was good though....)

We were there for 4 nights but we could have done it with two... But maybe it was our problem... friends brought us from Utapao-airport... so we had no car available. To rent something seems to be difficult. Staff is nice, but meals (breakfast and some menuecard we had was medium.

but sad to see it looking rather 'under maintained'. This was clearly a beautiful hotel when it opened, but its size probably means a large maintenance bill. All rooms appear to overlook the sea, which is lovely, but our room had rather tired furniture and the bathroom had a lot of faults. The main reception areas were also in need of a lot of paint, as were balcony rails and other items. Quite sad to see what is a beautiful place looking rather forlorn. Staff were lovely and underground parking was useful. Hope they manage to brighten the place up a bit and get it back to its former glory.

I stayed with my fiancee for a week and we found this hotel has a heart and very romantic place for a couple. The rooms are huge and numbered. The room is clean and tidy. The breakfast items are nice and variety. The hotel is located near U-tapao Airport where is an International one in the future. The people are friendly and nice.

We arrived with a group of people for conference. The receptionist were sympathize and willing to assist you everywhere you go. The rooms were big and clean. The breakfast experience was great and variety. This is the best hotel in Rayong that I definitely recommend it.
