Our party of two adults with 4 and 5 year old children stayed at Makmai Villa Rayong on January 2020.

We contacted hotel staff beforehand to arrange transportation from Suvarnabhumi airport to Makmai. We paid 2000 baht in front via Paypal for the transportation and everything went just as planned. Don't know about the price but I'm pretty sure that if we would have taken a taxi from aiport it would have been more expensive.

Hotel staff, especially elderly couple that I suppose were the managers, was very friendly and helpful. Willing to help with every question and challenge that came into our mind and always with a smile on their face. I can easily say that at Makmai we received one of best services ever. They really cared that our holiday goes as planned.

There were a few restaurants around the hotel and you could order from the hotel as well. We ate breakfast two times at the hotel and it was worth the money.

The beach just across the street from the hotel was very good, although in the morning there were some garbage washed ashore but locals cleaned the beach every day or so. And there wasn't that much garbage that it would affect our beach time. Water got deeper just a bit by bit so it was a good beach to stay with children like ours.

Hotel room was clean and everything worked as expected. Pool was big enough and there's nothing to complain about the pool either. Pool was clean and solid. There were two swings on the yard, nothing fancy but better than nothing and kids liked it.

When you take into consideration that room from Makmai Villa costs so low I can tell myself that money was very well spent.

And when we left the hotel for a few hour drive and sail to Koh Chang the lady manager even gave our children a bag of self-made cookies :) Talking about hospitality and good will.

Highly recommend Makmai Villa if you are staying around.

I booked this hotel online while I was in Bangkok. My parents and I had the best time at this resort. The rooms are very clean and spacious. There is a lot of beautiful green and lush vegetation around the resort. My parents who are elderly had a difficult time staying on the second floor of this resort. And the couple that owns the resort were so nice that they gave us a large room on the mail floor. The owners were a wealth of information and they helped us rent a taxi and gave us all the information for visiting the island which is nearby.
The beach is literally across the road from this resort. My parents and I would have breakfast and the resort and then go cross the road and took us sixty seconds to go the beach! The resort is quiet but very safe. There are a lot of families around and people are out at night. And the few restaurants that are near the resort are very busy. It was the most quiet and peaceful stay I have ever had at a resort (and I have travelled extensively).
One night I became sick and had an allergic reaction and the owner of the resort drove me to the hospital. You cannot meet nicer people then the couple who own this resort. They are the kindest and most nicest people I ever met. I was fine though after the hospital and the owner stayed with my parents and I till it was time to drive us home. I will never forget the owners and this resort!!! I am hoping to visit Rayong next year again and I am going to stay at the Mukmai Villa. The owners made my parents and I stay such a pleasant and beautiful experience. Please do not hesitate to stay here. The owners will take good care of you!!!

Great place, very nice staff, will definitely be back! We rarely go on vacation, but when we think about where to go next time, the choice will be obvious. Scenic views, great climate. Sorry for my english, not my native language )

I stayed at Makmai Villa, Rayong, on 30 Apr to 1 May 13. I had never stayed here before and had no idea where this hotel was. The hotel is located about 80m from the beach and there were roadside stalls selling drinks, salad, bbq seafood for the beach goers.

I stayed in Room 13. The room was clean and the facilities, such as aircon, fridge, TV and water heater, were new and in good working condition. Free wifi was also provided. the servie staff were also polite and prompt in cleaning the room. The owner, Mr Pravit, also helped me from reservation to giving directions to the taxi driver and telling me how much to pay for taxi from Bangkok Airport. He was even there to receive me when my taxi pulled into the hotel driveway.

For 800 baht per night, this is considered good value for money.

What was lacking is the lack of public transport in the area. This is not your typical tourist area and the people who come here are mainly industrial estate workers from rayong with their own transport.

Stayed here for 5 nights over Christmas 2013 using 2 hotel rooms. On arrival the rooms were ready for us and we're clean, spacious and functional. The towels were of good quality and the bathroom was a typical Thai style with open shower. The location was good with the beach directly across the road with many seafood restaurants along the road near the hotel but most of these were only open during daylight.
We didn't eat at the hotel but there was a nice restaurant less than 100 metres to the left of the hotel. We christened it the "Long Time" restaurant. My tip is when you arrive don't wait for the menus to arrive, get one as you enter and when you have decided what you want go up and order it. You will save a lot of time.
The hotel beds were the hardest I have experienced any where in the world!!!!! They did put an extra cover on for me but it didn't make much difference. The beach across from the hotel had no waves to speak of and would be suitable for toddlers and young kids. Overall I thought the hotel was good value for money at Aud $24 per night

We ran a summer school at Makmai village together with the King Mongut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang. It is simply perfect. The people are extremely nice and helpful, the rooms are very clean, the lecture hall offers everything needed for an event like this one. And besides, there is a long and quiet beach, a pool, bicycles, the island of Ko Samed. I ran summer schools at various cites in South East Asia and this is by far the best place.

Booked by agoda one day before. Very quickly check in. Our room no. was 13 (lucky no.) at 2nd floor that can see the sea and tree. Good air-conditioned room with 2 bottles of wate in refrigerator, soap and shampoo in bathroom.
Beach located opposite side of road, but should not swim because wave may push you out to the sea. Anyway, we can swim at Suan-son or Samed island. I was very happy to jog along the road in front of this hotel to Lan Hin Kaw and back.
Although this hotel located near the road, it was not noisy anymore.

I booked this hotel over the phone having read the earlier reviews. We drove down from Bangkok, 2.5 hours, on the 8 July for a couple of nights.
The room, 33,on the top floor, was spotless. Our room faced the beach, although hidden by trees.
The Air con was ok. Towels, soap and water provided. English speaking owner was nice and helpfull. Great pool.
Location on the hotel is on the left side of the road, opposite the beach coming from Rayong....after about 5 km...look for the sign on the left.....
In the down season, there are not many places to eat, and minimal transport....if you have a car, you can go to Rayong....but with some planning, you can find some places to eat.....but they close at 8pm....
Nice big beach..... A lot could be done to clear up the beach junk and plastic etc.....
The surf is up and noisy 24 hrs.....
Red flags......dangerous to swim....we swan in the pool only.
