Thomas and crew have a very clean, quiet, beautiful and pet friendly place in Udon Thani. We were doing work at near by orphanages with volunteers. The location offered an easy place to go to sites like Baan Chiang, to various Buddhist wats, and to the nearby shops to collect supplies. Met wonderful people, some locals, others were travelers, ministers, students over low cost yet very good German and Thai food. They were all very helpful and offered free transport to town.

On arrival a wonderful personal greeting from Thomas shown to my room in very tranquil/tropical surroundings. There are various tropical birds in cages one in particular
normally greets you on passing. The rooms are spacious even the standard room I took was more than ample, clean and the added benefit of an in room safe. If I return to the area
and depending on availability I will be staying there again.

Breakfast was not inkluded in the room price 600 bath. Breakfast cost 160 baht. If you wanted an extra cup of coffee, it cost an additional 50 baht.

Located a few kilometers outside of Udon it was hard to get there. As tuktuk seems to be illiterate. not able to read the map or ever heard of Udon Thai House I was forced to read the map and direct tuktuk drivers where to go. Each trip from city to Udon Thai House became something of an adventure.

The guesthouse itself is something of a Garden of Eden, with plenty of vegetation, birds singing in their cages. The place suits those who drive around Thailand by car.

We arrived with no booking and were lucky enough to get a room in December. Stayed for 3 nights. Thomas and the staff are very friendly. The food was nice. Hottest tom yum goong I've ever had! great to be able to rent a scooter. It a very popular place for German-Thai couples. Have to say it would be nice to at least get drinking water though and the drainage for the bathroom was really bad so the bathroom really stank and was flooded for a long time after showering which isn't so nice for your partner to stand in your dirty water. Overall more positive though and might consider staying again.

We needed a room in Udon Than, and although Thomas did not have one available for us, we were very impressed by his beautiful garden resort tuck into a little Soi of a main highway. Thomas was nice enough to refer us to a hotel down the road, and invited us to come back for dinner. We did that, and enjoyed some of the best food on our 3 week trip. Unfortunately, the battery in our car died while we were eating dinner. Thomas not only got us safely back to our (other) hotel, but he then arranged for our car to be fixed in the morning! How's that for service above and beyond the call of duty, considering that we weren't even staying there? I certainly hope that we get the opportunity to stay IN the Udon Thai Resort some time in the future. It is absolutely lovely, as well as having a wonderful owner and staff!
