I’m afraid this hotel is not worth the trouble, I had issues booking in due to the fact i turned up at 5pm last check in is 8pm, my room a double room once in is in need of serious updating, the door lock DIDN’T so had to secure using the safety chain, the room was dirty and the rather tired towels on the bed along with bed linen had dried blood on them, only the main light switch worked the electrics from one RCD to the shower are hanging away from the wall and the shower extract is located next to the shower head so not advisable to turn on the extract whilst showering, the air con worked well but very noisy, A mini fridge in the room was old and un hygienic so I didn’t use it, tea coffee and bottled water was supplied. I don’t mind sharing my room with the occasional gecko but 9 of them seriously! I do not recommend this hotel to any one there are far better ones in Udon Thani

REVIEW – Silver Reef 2018 07 29 and 08 01 I stayed here for two nights, with a two night break between them. My experiences on those two bookings were poles apart. First night, a Sunday, was to catch up with friends that had flown in from Chiang Mai to watch the football against Udon FC. The second night was booked as I came back from Laos that afternoon after getting a new visa. I don't drive at night any more. My first night’s booking went without a hitch although the receptionist really needs to take a course in customer relations. The room was adequate and, considering the price of only ฿500 a night, reasonable priced. Good bed, fridge and airconditioner worked, and good water pressure. Good location, right next to the bus station if you use that form of transport; easy walking distance to many bars, restaurants, and massage parlours. Second night, three days later – I had been to Nong Khai and Vientiane in the intervening time - I waited in reception because there was no one in attendance. No one. I filled in the booking sheet. And waited. After the first ten minutes, I called the hotel’s phone but it just went through to the reception desk phone and rang. And rang. And rang. After an hour and twenty minutes I decided to leave and look for another hotel. I had even contacted the online booking site to ask how I can avoid being charged for the room as *the hotel* was a “ no show”. Anyway, as I was laving through he back door to the on-site car park, another couple arrived and I told them they couldn't check in because there was no receptionist and told them how long I had been waiting. The man shook his head and walked away; the woman said she was a boss of the hotel. But she didn’t know how to book me in and didn’t have keys to the key drawer. The check in sheet showed only four rooms booked. She made a couple of calls and informed me the receptionist was on here way. Ten minutes later she appeared. And checked in “ the boss” first and handed her a key. She was very angry at me. Put me in a room on the third floor – no lift, three flights of stairs. I have a pronounced limp and obviously in pain. Her getting back at me for, what, getting her in trouble for going home and not working? It was now night time (I had arrived at 16:25, it was now 18:10) and I had to turn the lights on in the stairwells to see. Like I said, two visits less than a week apart. Of course, I’ll never stay there again.

This hotel is located several steps from bus station therefore there will be noisy in your room any time. I stayed on the 4th floor. Old furniture and towels but comfortable mattress. Exhaust gases will be in your room regardless of the floor on which you stayed. Walking distance to 7/11 store, Central Plaza and Tesco Lotus.

It's not a place were you would like to stay long time, but for one or two nights it's ok. We payed 600 thb for an AC room. The room and bathroom were both big and clean. The location next to the bus station is perfect. No breakfast included but free coffee available. Staff hardly spoke english, but were friendly.
