First, we went mid-week in late February, and we were apparently the only people staying in the hotel that night. So our experience may not be representative of the average experience. Since the rates were comparatively low for the winter, we booked a castle view room, and it was definitely a beautiful castle view. You could even see the castle from the bed. There was a small balcony which adjoined the balconies of the other rooms across the front, but it was chilly so we didn't linger. The room had a basic coffee maker and a small fridge under a nice tiled counter with a sink - a wet bar of sorts. There was also a desk, a marble-top dresser, and a round table with two chairs. There were two double beds which we both agreed were pretty uncomfortable. Think: hospital mattresses. The bathroom was large, and since we were on a corner it had a window with a nice view of the nearby marina. The location was great: walking distance to the village, but not in the middle of all of the noise and craziness that the Bay can foster in the summertime. Even in winter the room was somewhat expensive but the view was worth it. They also had an open restaurant, and the burgers were good and a bottle of wine was very reasonable.

We stayed here as part of a tour group. The room decor was outdated, but the furniture was sufficient for our needs. The room had a sink area with coffeemaker and refrigerator, and the closet had full-length mirrored doors. The floor was wood, not carpet, and appeared clean. There was a view of the harbor from the balcony with two chairs. The bathroom had an updated sink with adequate counter space and the tub had a good showerhead. The hotel restaurant was lovely, the food was very good, and outdoor covered dining was available. Now for the negatives: There was no grab bar in the tub/shower, which is absolutely essential for older guests. My bath towel had several holes in it! The outdated tile floor in the bathroom was stained and dirty with a clump of hair and dust in a corner. It could be greatly improved with a few updates in the bathroom and more attention to cleaning.

While it looks like a great place they are using POOR excuses for not taking care of the pople that support them. Can you imagine staying some place for 6 days and they do no cleaning of your Room it is your job to dump your trash clean your toilet get new towels etc. and no discount. They should be trying to provide superior service in these unprecedented time. The restaurant staff was miserable and unaccommodating. One morning you get a large pot of coffee for $9.00 and the next it is a single cup pot for the same price. Room service was terrible. The toilets stank and the hot tub had grit all over the bottom. Not to mention no towels in the pool area. Came outside in the evening to enjoy the river and use the gas firepit. Opps no lighter or matches available.. to bad... sorry don't know what to say. In the beginning I was trying to make excuses because of covrid but really there is no excuse for a mismanaged resort. Good luck won't be coming back. Keep your expectations low.

Disgusting, overpriced, run down, dilapidated and no one seems to even care or get back to you after 3 requests at the front desk. My wife’s birthday on Friday (stayed Friday and Saturday night) and we had a nice dinner downstairs and that’s it. No conditioner came out of the bathtub pump thing. Woke up only to find massive stain on the over sheet right on top of the bed by our heads. Furthermore on the right side of the comforter inside by our heads there was this disgusting yellow white gob of who knows. The make up towel was visibly stained maybe not clean. The Kleenex ran out within two pulls. After Friday night the tv had to be rebooted every time we turned it on. The balcony and the roof below had broken concrete loose stones from above and decay on the floor. The towels were old and tears and rips on the edges and holes throughout, see through they were so thin. I gave the staff a sample towel, emailed them the pics and they said sorry and would I guess give it to someone who cares. No discount, no response via phone or email… Nothing.. Resort my ass

The people were very nice and a great location but that's it. The property needs some SEVERE attention. Ammenities are very basic, rooms seem like they've not been updated in years (loose fixtures, tattered throw rugs, cobwebs in the table lamps). Maintenance request not resonded to. Banquest food was dissapointing (dry salmon, soggy greens).

This was our 4th year staying here and every year it has gotten a little worse. This year it was just disgusting. There was food crumbs all over the floor from the previous people, toothpaste splatter on the bathroom door. The tub/shower looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. There was long black hair in the bathroom vanity. Dead bugs smushed on the walls and ceiling, along with the ones still crawling!! My feet were black within minutes of taking my sandals off, obviously it had been a while since the floor was mopped. The bed was worn out, and I’m not sure what the tag on the mattress was for but it read “ April, May, June” and it’s the end of July. The lobby area was beautifully renovated since last year, which is nice I suppose. The cleaning staff seemed to find the furniture comfortable as they sat there relaxing on their phones! I think it’s safe to assume we won’t be back.

We have stayed at this hotel several times. The lobby is beautiful, the check in easy. When we got to our room on the 3rd floor, we noticed the carpet was stained and dirty looking. We couldn't stay in this room so we went back to the lobby and asked if there was a room without carpeting. We were moved to a room on the 2nd floor and what a difference there was! So clean and comfortable!
After our Uncle Sam boat ride (which was wonderful) we were looking forward to eating at the restaurant on the water. Unfortunately it was closed because of staffing issues. What a disappointment! We were only staying one night and always look forward to dining at this restaurant. We were so happy when we found out they were serving the dinner menu at the pub also on site. It was packed with people but the servers were running and taking care of everyone. We were shocked how quickly we were taken care of and the food was outstanding as always. In the morning, the restaurant on the water and was open for business. The breakfast was great with servers that truly enjoyed their jobs! Can't wait to come back!!!

We booked a weekend for a get together with a group of friends. We booked the castle view room $265/night ($323+ with tax). We checked in and were given room 340. We arrived a little late and had to meet our group for dinner downtown, so didn’t get to the room until later. When we finally got back to the room it was later that night and moved our bags in. The first thing we noticed is the room is a nice size, but there are water stains on the ceiling along with some squished bugs. Then we notice discolored curtains with what looks like mold (why would they not replace these?). Since it was late we decided to go to bed. As we got into bed, we noticed that every time the air conditioner cycled on it would blow the mold smell into the air, not good for my wife’s allergies. Then while lying in bed my wife had a spider crawl across her arm. We were exhausted and had everything in our room, so we decided to stick it out for the night. The next day we were out with friends all day and did the sunset cruise before getting back late again. We get into bed and then we hear dripping, water is now coming through the ceiling from upstairs. So, at 1 AM management has us move to another room. I had to go down and get a cart and move all our things to a different floor. This room was in better much condition, but little did we know what was on the other side of the wall. The people in the next room had dogs (probably not service animals) and the man in that room apparently beat his animals. The yelping was horrible and disturbing, we did contact the front desk about it. With not much sleep we checked out and discussed our issues at the desk. The bill was confusing and thinking we were getting a night’s stay refunded we left. It turns out the refund was less than half a night’s charge. The following week I tried contacting the General Manager Justin to discuss our disappointment and left several messages for him, with no reply. Finally discussed our stay with the front desk manager Tara, who said our refund was more than fair and should have been only 10%. So, our two night - not so pleasant stay cost us about $500. Not happy!

Recently my wife and I had reservations at the Riveredge Resort. On the way to the resort my wife was taken ill and she wanted to go home.. This was about a 3 hour drive. Our reservation was non refundable.. I left my wife in the parking lot and went in the resort and ask to speak to the manager. I explained the situation and told her that I understood our reservation was non refundable. The manager immediately without hesitation" told me she understood and I should take my wife home and we would not be charged for anything." We were suppose to be there for 5 days. As I left the manager said to me " safe travels". She was very understanding. Thank you for your kindness .

My wife and I only spent 1 night at the Riveredge. We had a King Bed on the 4th floor facing a marina and had an excellent view of Boldt Castle. It was clean with a slight musty smell when we first entered the room. Most of our plans involved going to places outside of the hotel. We did get to experience the Tiki bar and met Big Daddy(bartender) while listening to live entertainment. Later on that evening we did stop off at the bar and enjoyed a nightcap. I was impressed with some of the top shelf bourbons they had on hand. The rooms are nice overall but need to be updated. Small and simple things are needed like USB outlets, carpet being replaced, get rid of the 2nd sink in the room and make more counter space. Staff was incredibly nice and helpful. I would agree with others that have commented about this location not really being so much a resort and more of a hotel. My wife and I did check out a different location while staying in A-bay and was impressed with the updates they had made. We will not be staying here again until this location renovates the rooms. Took expensive compared to the dated room we stayed in.

The loft Jacuzzi rooms side views of the St. Lawrence and the shipping channel, when you step out on the baloneys you get a view of boldt castle. If you want a full boldt castle view you will need the end rooms only. I have stayed in both types of rooms and as long as it is not freezing cold the balcony provides a nice view in any room. At this time of year there will be plenty to a see and do. also the hotel as beautiful views from the restaurant and patios as well for your viewing pleasures. I hope you get to see the ships pass at night all lit up and of course boldt castle is stunning at any time.
