We were so happy to book at this hotel for Eid as we were really excited to explore Tunis with our two kids and especially enjoy the atmosphere & history (AND FOOD) as we are originally Algerian and therefore felt like we were at home.

The hotel is absolutely breathtaking, it takes you back to the 7th century, and gives you a taste of how it must’ve felt to live during umayyad caliphate. It overlooks a beautiful beach and really makes you feel you’re in a castle.

The staff and service are probably one of the most amazing people at this hotel and were definitely one of the highlights of our stay.

Unfortunately the government has implemented a policy to not allow burkinis at the indoor pool (as the outdoor pool is currently undergoing renovation). It’s an absolute shame I of course because I’m well travelled and I’ve never ever ever had to deal with something like this. So you can imagine we were really upset to learn this but the staff was extremely kind and received our disapproval with great attentiveness and Mr. Nizzar gave us 1 hour at the pool in the evening just for our family. We were ever so grateful for such a kind gesture and we hope that they will continue to offer Muslim women who wear hijab an opportunity to swim as the pool is really amazing. Burkinis are allowed at the beach anytime for Muslim families to know before booking.

The breakfast buffet is amazing, with multiple options and everything is fresh, including fresh juices. The beach is incredible , they also have camel and horse riding options available. The rooms are a very good size and the bathrooms allow more than enough space for a family with two kids, and the location is spectacular. It puts you about 10 min outside of downtown Marsa, which we truly enjoyed going down to every day.

The staff here is very kind, & a special shout out to Feriel who oversees the kids club, such a beautiful & lovely soul inside & out. My son really enjoyed going there everyday. They have an outdoor playground and also a trampoline for the kids. Lastly, many thanks again to Mr. Nizzar and Ms. Souad who went above and beyond to meet and exceed expectations in handling guest complaints. We definitely look forward to returning soon.

We had a great time at the Residence Tunis in June. Initially, we were concerned about traveling during what later became a major covid wave, but the hotel exceeded our expectations regarding covid safety. During the whole stay, we felt safe and well cared for.
The hotel building exuded grandeur and the grounds were meticulously kept. The room was spacious and nicely furnished. We were impressed by friendly staff - at the gate, in the lobby, in restaurants, by the pool or at the beach, we were always greeted with warm smiles and kind words.
Hotel dining with children can be a challenge, but we found our favourite in Zembra, the poolside restaurant that offered great variety in a vibrant setting (and the coloured pencils to keep the kids busy - great idea!). Do try the seafood kamounia - its presentation is a feat for the eyes, while the taste is uniquely Tunisian. Fresh fish and pizzas were delicious. We also loved fresh juices for breakfast.
It was a great stay, we would love to return.

Had the pleasure of playing nine holes in the Residences Golf Club in Tunis earlier today ( Labour Day, 2023). I did not have to book and just turned up at 3 pm. I was charged around 250 Tunisian Dinars for green fees, hitting of a golf set, a sleeve of three golf balls and for trolley hire ( around 80 GBP). I thought that I had also got myself a caddie but sadly that bit was lost in translation. They did include a 50 balls bucket for getting warmed up. I had a whack at the golf range and got the swing going. Off to the first hole. There was a strong West to East breeze blowing across the course which is located not far from the sea. A dried estuary lies to the right of the sixth hole's fairway. A lake separates the 3rd and 4th fairways (both par 5). Fact that the nine holes zigzagged meant that the wind had to be countered from opposing directions (right to left or vice versa) on alternate holes. There were 3 par 5s, 2 par 3s and 4 par 4s in the front 9 that I played. The course is a bit like a 'links' style course. Throughout the fairways, there were fantastic houses dotted along with their gardens, garden statues and swimming pools commanding very posh surroundings. Most of the houses looked vacant. The gardens had stunning date palm trees and olives giving a very middle eastern look. Bunkers were having sand that was nice and fluffy, fairways were nearly trimmed and greens well maintained. The sixth fairway was easily the most stunning with the dried estuary to the right and a volcanic horizon in the distance across the water of the Mediterranean. I managed to not lose any golf balls and finished the nine holes in a little under one hour and forty minutes. Scored a rather forgettable +12 ( I am an 18 handicapper). The score did however include a birdie on the par 3 seventh hole. I would certainly like to play again at this golf course. Hopefully someday with my friends!

I tried to call the hotel many times in August but nobody ever answered the phone so I just went there for dinner one night.

My first impression of the hotel was that it was a bit old. I had a walk around and saw the indoor pool through the window which I read had seawater and the big outdoor pool which was not as suitable for swimming lengths as the pool at the Four Seasons.

I had dinner outside on the terrace and the service was good. The setting was nice and there was a male guitar player who seemed to be singing the same bland song over and over again.

They had divided the terrace into two areas, one for the Chinese restaurant Li Bai and another for the French restaurant L'Olivier which didn't make much sense as you could have the same food in both areas.

To start I had shrimp and avocado cocktail from the French menu for 36 TND. I then had shrimp dim sum and shrimp wan tan from the Chinese menu. Everything was just alright, nothing more, it's really hard to get a decent meal in Tunisia.

I definitely preferred the restaurants at the Four Seasons which opened in November 2017 and is clearly now the best hotel in Tunisia.

I went to the bar afterwards, it was Tunisian style and I was quite comfortable sitting on one of the large couches with my feet up to finish my bottle of wine.

We went back to the Residence Tunis this time for New Year's eve cocktail, dinner and party. Wonderful evening, great cocktails and drinks including finest champagne. The Chef put a delightful show and served delicious canapés and appetisers. We were at the twenties' party with a top notch decor and live musique. Kudos to all the team of Residence, the service was just great and food very tasty and served at perfect temperature when you would expect bland or rather warm food in such parties. The Residence Tunis is definitely one of the best high end hotels in Tunis with a warm ambiance and a management clearly very attentive to good service. We will certainly visit the Residence Tunis again. Thanks to all the staff, keep up the great work

We visited this property as part of a large group for a family wedding everything was seamless the rooms are large, facilities are stunning especially the spa and swimming pool are excellent.

The hotel is conveniently located with private access to a beach that has camels and horseback riding which can be an excellent fun adventure. This place is idyllic for families that want to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of Tunis.

I would like to personally thank Naama for her assistance in everything.

If I had to give one negative comments would be that the Chinese restaurant is quite below par, they didn’t even have Chinese rice the food was served with American rice! And the dishes were not Chinese at all!

We were a family of 17 who booked more than 7 rooms and came to find out that we are not allowed to swim with our swimming suit that is dedicated for pools only for the reason that we are covering our hair and wearing long sleeves. I was shocked that we are not allowed to swim if we are muslims and wearing out islamic swimming suit (burkini) although we have paid the same value for the room for people who are allowed to swim freely. I have traveled many countries world wide including Europe, Maldives, USA and was able to swim freely with my burkini without such stupid restrictions. As long as the material is a swimming suit material then its allowed. It makes my stay with that hotel terrible and would never come back again.

I would like to say if you ever see my other reviews on trip adviser, I am brutely honest with an emphasis on the brutal so when I give a place a good review, it earned it. I went to Tunis on business, I booked a stay at The Residence as it was close to where I needed to be, and it had good ratings. I can say we were blown away by how nice it was, the staff is amazing, the entire hotel and it’s big was spotlessly clean. The Residence is a short like 3 minute slow stroll from the beach and the grounds are extremely well kept. About the only thing I would change if I had the option would be to make a part of the bar and restaurant areas non-smoking, both are big enough that a part could be cordoned off. It’s nice to have breakfast outside and breathe the fresh air right up until someone at the next table lights up a cigarette.

Dear Sir, We are very grateful that you took some time to review your recent experience at The Residence Tunis. It is our pleasure to read that you enjoyed so much all aspects of your experience, but what means the most to us is to know how well cared you were by our teams! It is truly rewarding when our guests recognize our commitments to offer high quality of service. With regard to protect guests from passive smoking in our conviviality places (Salon bar, restaurants) and in the absence of clear regulations we have set up areas specially dedicated to non-smokers equipped with efficient ventilation. Please rest assured that we will continue to work on it in order to bring a definitive solution to this inconvenience. Before leaving the hotel last summer I promised Mme Benbrahi that I would write a review of our stay. And as I am organising my next stay I remembered my promise.
Another wonderful family holiday at The Residence.
The hotel staff went out of their way to help us prepare our stay, thank you Najet. We were given connecting rooms overlooking the pool and with a fine view of the sea.
All the staff were so friendly and welcoming. As we have been there a few times they remembered us and they gave us a beautiful welcome. It felt very personal and genuine and every day they would take the time to have a kind word.
Breakfast is very good and the team that work the breakfast are my favourite. Every morning was a pleasure to sit in the quiet, we were there at 7 o'clock, and relax with my son while eating an excellent breakfast.
Then to the beach where Ahmed and his team took great care of us and the other guests. He was very much in demand but handled the situation with calm and professionalism. The hotel beach is great and the beach restaurant is a good option if you don't want to go back to the pool.
I prefer the pool restaurant, though it lacks the cool breeze of the beach.
The girls at the kids club were very helpful with our kids and gave us some time to relax in peace.
Make sure you taste the home made ice cream before you leave, it is divine.
Anyway, a great hotel made excellent by truly wonderful staff.
Thank you all and see you in July/August.

As far as I know the hotel can arrange the airport pick-up for a fee. I guess this is the most reliable way. Otherwise you may just take a taxi from the airport. They are usually lining up but the cars are not great and there is no guarantee they use the meter. So you might end up paying too much.
