I arrived with a friend and his son on the 4th of August in Livingston and was met at the airport by Flex our driver. We arrived at the banks of the Zambezi and was transported to Bovu Island in makoro's which was an awesome experience. Brett met us at the bar with a cold mosi beer. He made us...

Spent 4 nights at Jungle junction with some mates. Had an amazing time. The fact that there is no cellphone signal and wifi makes it even more of an island adventure. The host is a cool guy and the food is great. Would go back with out a doubt. I actually went in October 2014 but I had such an...

One of the best places to go and chill on the Zambezi River. Perfect for unwinding, fishing, re-energising and having a party. Somewhere that can trap you. I have spent several Christmases and New Years here, and days become weeks quite easily, if you allow them to. Just go...!

Rustic. No wifi. No phones. Torches needed. Luscious cooking. White sand paths running every which way. Canoe trips to the "swimming hole" a few times a day. Clean, simple "bungalows" with sturdy mozzie nets and thick blankets (that you will surprisingly need during the cold nights). A somewhat friendly genet who visits the dinner table (and enjoys a good plate...

I have been here three times and would kill to go back. It's not glamorous or luxurious, but lovely and quiet, don't even bother taking your phone-it won't work. Bring a good book or relax at the bar while overlooking the zambezi. You can bring all your own food, but I recommend eating there-delicious and homemade. They have one kind...

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2-night stay at Jungle Junction. The staff are excellent, food good, setting perfect. That said this is not a place for everybody. The transport from Livingstone was 90 minutes in the back of a pickup truck, and access to the island is via dugout canoe. We have several relatives who would never consider staying at such...

We were absolutely enchanted with the place. From the creaky Landcruiser ride atop a case of beers and a bag of sweet potatoes to the mokoro ride to the reception beach bar. Stand-in hosts Sarah and Kyle made us feel truly welcome and gave us the tour around the picturesque facilities. After a quick Mosi beer, we were handed over...

Bovu Island is truly something else I was born in Botswana but have constantly been traveling around the world due to different circumstances in my life. I would still call Africa home however especially Bovu. Knowing Brett and Evelyn for over 6 years now I have built a strong relationship with the place. The sense of belonging, the people, the...

Myself and a friend booked in to stay at Jungle Junction prior to our visit to Zambia in December 2014. We had the most amazing relaxing time. It is like a little tropical island in the middle of Zambia. Jungle junction is the perfect place to stay if you want to get away from it all and relax for a...

“I always go with the open air chalets or a tent. There is nothing like waking up to the Zambezi river, unless it's the unbelievable riot of bird song. It gets cooler at night in the winter than many travelers expect but there are plenty of blankets!”
