The lodge is located close to the entry of the Hwange National Park. A particular feature is the large park nearby, facing a waterhole where elephants and many other animals come all day long to drink. The lodge's garden features a platform from where guests can see the animals. You can even watch them while you are in the swimming... More

We stayed 3 nights and whilst the hotel was basically empty we enjoyed the quiet and the accommodating staff . We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite - which gave us space to enjoy our time in Hwange even tho the aircon didn't work In the lounge area. The animals at the water hole were amazing, so... First day, on arrival immediately spotted a herd of elephants. Great atmosphere! Great welcome service from the team. Waiting to post more details of the trip. Was also told that just before we arrived a herd of buffalo had left the viewing area.

Experienced the dream of living in harmony with nature. The close-by water hole attracts several species including the largest mammals. The national park arguably has the highest elephant density per square kilometer. Other species including buffaloes and lions can be viewed on a game drive at Ganda Pan located within 2km of the hotel. Enjoyed the chef's cuisine of game... More

We stayed here for 3 nights while we visited Hwange. The staff are just so friendly and helpful - they really stand out. The hotel is undergoing renovations in a lot of the rooms currently. The main hotel area is very well maintained. It would be nice to have greener grass but possibly this is deliberate to discourage warthog etc... More

I stayed at the Safari Lodge with my husband and family at the start of August. His family had visited the Lodge every year when they lived in Zimbabwe and have very fond memories of it. It seems to have lived beyond its glory a little, as they were a little saddened at how empty it was and it seemed... More

I didn't come to Africa to stay in a 5-star hotel. There are plenty of places in the world for that. I came to Hwange Safari Lodge for a natural experience and a safe place to stay. It was that an so much more. You can tell it is well past its glory days (and given that Zimbabwe has had... More

I visited the Safari Lodge every year from 1990 - 2001 in my childhood and returned for the first time in 15 years in August 2016. I had mixed emotions on returning having heard mixed reviews, but immediately felt at home when I walked out from reception to gaze down to the waterhole and after a complimentary room upgrade. The... More

Going back to Safari Lodge after 15 years in the UK was the best welcome home I could have had. We used to work there as entertainment directors for kids in the August holidays. Charming welcoming staff helped me remember why we loved this venue so much. The hotel and grounds were spotlessly kept and meals alto ugh all now... More

Lots of renovations in progress to bring this lodge up to top gear. The waterhole is a huge plus with regular visits from a variety of animals – especially the elephant herd each evening. We stayed 3 nights and the limited menu became boring. We queried the interpretation of “Local brand drinks included” in our package. Unlike the lodges in... More
