Hotel's Favourite
Has been a few years since last visit....COVID notwithstanding. Pretty much the same service levels - excellent, and quality as with previous visits. Fitness room has more sanitizing wipes, and distance recommendations. Food options aplenty, with the Takashima food street downstairs, next to the subway. Great views of the city, if one could get a room with an unblocked view.....(some rooms have obstructed views).

For our Spring 2022 Japan trip, we decided to fly from Hawaii to Tokyo, then take the Shinkansen (Bullet Train) to Nagoya before going to our final destination of Gifu. Why the long trip? Well you save hundreds of dollars flying with ZIPAIR to Tokyo (NRT) instead of direct to Nagoya (NGO). The only downside of course is including the flight time, we travelled for more than 12 hours. We were due to arrive at the hotel at around 8PM, which is well past the standard 3PM check in time. The hotel is directly connected to Nagoya Station, so it is easy to find and also a great place to stay to access many train lines in the city, as well as the bullet train to take day trips to other cities. The lobby is located on the 15th floor. You'll take a left towards what I believe was one of their lounges and a nice little fountain you can enjoy. Then, you will take a right, which will either be a hallway leading to some of the first shops that you will see, or the second set of elevators that would take you to the guest rooms, additional facilities such as the gym and restaurants, as well as the Elite Lounge, which is only available for Titanium, Platinum and Ambassador level (I'm a Gold only, so I thought I should at least ask them lol) The lobby is very spacious and there are so many ways to access it since, again, it is connected to the city's main station. The front desk has both a general check in line, as well as a clearly marked Elite Member line. Arriving in the evening, there was practically no one there. But the other days when we passed by around 4PM, it looks like you could wait for a little bit before getting serviced. The staff that assisted us didn't seem to all speak fluent English, but it was definetly good enough to get you through check in and any basic help you might need. If you have their Marriott Bonvoy app, you could chat with the front desk and ask them any questions you might have or request for something in the room. I would recommend getting the app for that purpose. I believe most other Marriott properties offer that ability to chat, it's free to become a member, and you also gain points for every stay, so it doesn't hurt to become a member. Even if you purchase your tickets through a travel agency or Hotels.com or something like that, you should be able to give them your member number at check in to still get the points and receive assistance. As a gold, the drinks in the mini bar were free. It wasn't much, but better it was still appreciated. We also received a late check out at 2PM. Lastly, I'm not sure if it's because of my status, but we were given a corner room! The view was great from the 30th floor. You can enjoy views of the city, the trains passing through, as well as some of the mountains. If you're a light sleeper, I don't think you would have any trouble sleeping if you're facing the station. The room has a tablet that allows you to control the lights, look at the room service menu, check out some of the amenities and more. There is a desk with enough space to do some work. TV is large and has all the channels that you can find on any other Japanese TV, from dramas, news, some foreign programs, and occasionally interesting game shows or variety programs that we are so used to seeing online. These amenities are more than enough if you just plan to stay in the room for resting at the end of the day, but I feel it is also enough if you plan to spend your day in the room as well. The bathroom is spacious, includes all the needed toiletries, and has a decent sized tub that fills up pretty fast as well. You could also play the audio in the bathroom for "privacy" while you're using it, or just to enjoy your programs while soaking in the tub. Overall, I would highly recommend staying here when staying in Nagoya! Fairly priced, good amenities, and good location.

We had a beautiful updated room with an incredible view. The staff were friendly and helpful and most spoke English. The Concierge floor lounge was great too. The breakfast buffet was delicious and had enough choices for everyone to find their favorites. The rooftop bar (top floor - indoors) had live entertainment, which is very rare these days. Very clean rooms and common areas. We are already planning to stay again the next time we're in Nagoya. We travel a LOT in Japan and this was the most impressive hotel we've visited so far.

We got a car accident . So we lost a lot of time. But this hotel’s Concierge helped us. It was amazing help. So we had a fantastic time at Marriott. We will stay at this hotel again.

Maybe the most comfortable and modern hotel room we have ever stayed in. Great mesmerizing views over a huge city of endless construction to the mountains in the distance. Wonderful coffee station. A great rest after two weeks of air BnB and varying conditions. Service staff kept our bags a full day so we could travel lightly, making exception to their rules. Western or Japanese breakfast is offered, with unlimited sweet breads, yogurt. Highly recommend!

Service has typically been excellent here, and the rooms have now undergone much-needed modernizing. Rooms are brighter with classic, modern flair, with western beds and a variety of pillows that offer a sound sleep. Lounge is very nice, though I did find it locked closed 5-8 minutes after its posted opening time.

The stay started off on a bad note - the person checking me in at the Bonvoy desk went through the motions and looked surprised when I asked whether capacity allowed for an upgrade. She had to check the Bonvoy grid to read up on Platinum perks. I was also not given the customary letter explaining lounge access. It was not explained to me that lounge access depended on the actual key card rather than telling the lounge receptionist your room number. The check in left me feeling like this would be a terrible stay. The breakfast however managed to redeem the hotel somewhat. Great selection, gracious staff, accommodation my extended family of 10. Swift service and I appreciated the local regional specialities presented as part of the buffet. Also very child friendly with a child friendly cutlery, crockery and colouring placemats. On the second day or my stay I approached the Bonvoy desk again in the hope of securing an upgrade and Takumi san explained everything very well - he gave me the information and kind service I expected when I checked in, but did not receive. He apologized but since the hotel was running at full capacity no upgrade was possible except a shift to the club floor but same class of room. Since the move would be a bit of a hassle I didn't take him up on this option. He also gave me the club lounge letter and was very helpful with restaurant bookings. The hotel itself in terms of hardware is great. The rooms are large, modern, tastefully decorated and clean. A humidifier was well appreciated in the dry winter. Views from the room were nice and the location as central as you can get in Nagoya. A wealth of shopping and food options in the immediate areas as the hotel is literally on top of the JR station. The checkout was smooth but again ultimately disappointing as my requests were not fulfilled (I had four rooms, paid for by my wife's sub card, I clearly asked all rooms be credit to my Bonvoy account - instead I got no points at all and none of the rooms were credited towards my nights total). I'd stay again but clearly the service is a bit uneven.

After a two-hour drive from Shirakawago, we stayed in Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel. The Hotel looked grand and gorgeous. When we checked –in, we were greeted by the staff politely. We would like to give our thumbs up to the staff at the concierge, Ms Mizuno,(水野) . She answered our questions patiently with warm smile. We particularly liked the mattress and pillows. So comfortable! The view outside our room is stunning. For those travelers who are going to drive to the hotel, the entrance of carpark is a bit difficult to find ( even we used the mapcode for navigation). We drove around the area several times then we finally reached the entrance…After parking the car, please take the lift to 15/F for the check in procedure. No worries for restaurants since there is a huge shopping centre nearby. We went to Muji café and other local resturants. Pleasant stay at Marriott as usual.
