Sunroute Plaza is conveniently located near train station and many good restaurants around. We were a team group from different places (East Europe, Africa, South Asia, etc.) and we all could find our own favorite dishes around this location. We were on a short trip with small luggage. We found all traveling necessity (even including pyjamas) in our hotel room. Breakfast spread was quite rich and versatile.

Hotel is about 5 to 10 minutes walk away from the train station. Check-in was smooth and receptionist was polite and helpful. Room is small but still bearable and clean, basic amenities were all provided. Good for a short stay if you are transiting to other areas in Japan from Nagoya.

The hotel is conveniently located near the JR station where you will have access to JR, Meitetsu, Kintetsu and the subway. There is a family mart convenient store right next to the hotel. On the way from the JR, there are 2 other drug stores (Sugi drug store and Matsumoto Kiyoshi), If you are driving, there is a petrol station located opposite of the hotel. However, despite having requested a non smoking room on higher floors, we have a room that is located on the lower floor and the room smells like someone had smoked in it previously. One of the bed in the twin room is actually a bed converted from a sofa bed. The service is good and staff are very helpful. They did their best to cater to our needs.

Great location near Nagoya station. Friendly staff, clean room, Japanese sized room which is ok. Only problem is the mattress...it is terrible! Too hard and you can even feel the spring! I adjusted with additional comforter.

I was part of a travel group and we stay at this hotel. There's no real shopping departments except for Lawson, 7-11 and a couple of pharmacies. Breakfast at the hotel can be a little hassle. You need to be there earlier to ensure less crowd else everything is fine. It is a western style hotel and rooms are small (hey! it is in a Japan city!)

Stayed in Tokyo with Sunroute and really enjoyed my stay The rooms are small but very functional and efficient. The draw for me is the location as this saves plenty of time Walking distance to Nagoya station and JR Tower, which was really where i spent my time during the duration. Travelling anywhere is really convenient Rooms are kept clean and tidy. There is a fridge and wifi as well. Keys must be deposited when you are leaving the room Recommended for good price and location.

Oh the beds in this place are hard and you feel every spring in the mattress! It’s all everyone was talking about over breakfast. On the other hand - breakfast is great at this hotel. Location is excellent 5 minutes from the station & shops, restaurants galore. Pity about the beds

A large hotel close to Nagoya train station. It was an easy walk to the station for our train to hakuba. It seemed designed for Japanese business travelers with quite small rooms and very firm beds. We couldn’t find the hotel restaurant so went for a walk at about 7.30pm. We passed many restaurants not yet open which were open when we returned at 9.30.

For those who follow or read my reviews, you know that I'm very fair and honest on how I rate a place. I don't usually give a place a "Poor" rating or terrible, but I hope that this review helps the owners make critical changes to their hotel so that people can fall in love with them and spread the word that a hotel can be a great place to stay. Let's start with the good - The employees and staff were very helpful and friendly. The lobby and dining area was very clean and tidy. The rates were reasonable for the area. The Not So good and What needs to Change - The number one issue and what every hotel needs to make sure is best, is the beds or sleeps area. Of all the hotels of all the countries I stayed in last year, the Sunroute Plaza had the worst beds. It is very important to get a good or even decent nights sleep. Many business people who travel to Nagoya Japan for Toyota and sub-companies deal with jet-lag and lack of sleep, so a comfortable bed is something that is very important. These beds and we tried many and looked at other rooms that had unlocked doors, were worst then sleeping on the floor. Many had bumps in the middle of the mattress which made it terrible to sleep in. I and the other travelers that were with me did not get any sleep while we were there. We had to request extra pillows, blankets, and covers to make something that would allow us to get a few hours of rest. We would have left after the first night but our business host had paid for the rooms and we did not want to insult or disrespect them by changing hotels. My strongest suggestion for the Sunroute Plaza is to please upgrade all your beds to something that all guests can enjoy and find peace at night. Also, the vending machines on the specific floor did not accept our money. We had to leave the hotel to get drinks.

Stayed here 5 nights & want to congratulate the hotel staff for their service to me during my stay. I appreciated all the conveniences: close to the station and many restaurants, convenience store nearby, fridge, hotplate and good wifi. Downsides; no way of turning down the hotel's heating & constant road noise on opening a window. Also, i know I should be used to Japanese beds, but the mattress was so hard, I had to ask for small mattress cover & sleep on top of the duvet. I don't mind a small room but I enjoy comfort.
