Found a great deal to stay at this hotel…very near Nagoya station.Easily accessible from exit 10 of the UNIMALL underground shopping street that connects Nagoya station to KOKUSAI Center (but yes as other reviewers have mentioned probably better to avoid this if you have suitcases as you have to go up 2 sets of steps) Reception is on the 2nd floor…you can go through Family Mart and out of a connecting door to get to the lifts…or walk a few steps around to the left of the Family Mart entrance to enter. Staff were all very pleasant and friendly. Wanted a quiet room on a higher floor if possible.Unfortunately the rooms that look onto the Main Street at the front of the hotel look directly over a huge demolition site. From Monday - Saturday (?) during working hours these rooms should be avoided if you re looking for something quiet (but not a problem noise-wise at other times…if you don’t mind the eye-sore) The big bath on the 3rd floor is clean…but it’s difficult to know well when is a good time to visit as the TV update on the spa status said that the baths were unoccupied but by the time we got to the baths all of the lockers were occupied and it’s difficult to enforce social-distancing…this might be a result of the Nagoya womens marathon being in town?! There s a free coffee machine in the lobby on the 2nd floor…and the food coupons give a number of options for either breakfast…a set lunch plate or some other snack type options later in the day. The breakfast selection was very limited (no cereal…fruit or yoghurt)…but the quality of what was offered was good (the cereal bread…egg salad…minestrone soup…French toast and chicken stew)Also there s a good coffee machine offering caffe latte and cappuccino if that what you prefer. All in all the deal was excellent and would recommend for people who want to be near the station….just bear the room situation at the present time in mind.

Arriving in Nagoya by JR train from Matsumoto and departing by Meitetsu train to Chubu Centrair International Airport 2-days later, my selection of a hotel close-by Nagoya Station seemed sensible. It was only when I arrived and it rained incessantly for 2-days (in July!!), that I realised what a fortunate choice I had made. The Royal Park Canvas is no more than 3 blocks from Nagoya Station and the impressive malls housed within the JR Towers there. Leaving the Station on the 'Sakadori Side' you can escape the weather by walking the Unimall underground mall (which follows the route of the Sakuradori Line Subway and houses many smaller shops as well as restaurants and coffee shops). At Exit 10 of Unimall, the staircase is immediately adjacent to the hotel entrance. I had a good-sized room for my comfortable 2-night stay, but my most memorable anecdote concerns the Family Mart attached to the hotel on the ground floor. Heading out for a days sightseeing with it raining heavily, I tried to buy an umbrella in the store. When I declined the only umbrella remaining (as being too childlike and far too pink!), the Store Clerk gave me his own personal umbrella! He gifted me his own umbrella .... now, doesn't that just encapsulate the courtesy and generosity of a country in a single simple gesture?

Location is great and close to station but depends on what part of station you get off it might take longer to find this place. If you come from airport and take express train you will end up in the opposite side and it can get very confusing. Nagoya station is busy and their signs are very confusing. One of hotel direction says Unimall exit 10 I would not recommend this route. Unimall is underground mall and it is very hard to find especially when you have luggage. Just find the entrance of Takashimaya department store at JR nagoya station. Hotel is on the same road as this department store. Stay on the left side of this road and walk 5min. You'll see Castle hotel on your right side of this street. If you see family mart (convenience store) turn left. Their sign is very small and there is a chance you'll miss it. Hotel is pretty typical Japanese hotel in this price range. Room is small but very clean and functional. They have pretty good coffee downstairs and you get bottle of water for free too. Their breakfast is restraunt quality and it was excellent but more western style food than Japanese. If you're more into fish, rice and miso soup this is not the place for you. They make pretty much everything there including sausage, jam and dressing and everything was great. Since it's very close to station I highly recommend this hotel. Even though it's not that complicated I got lost at night with luggage because my train exit was not connected to JR nagoya station. If you're coming from another part of Japan by train or Airport just find TAKASHIMAYA Department store at JR NAGOYA station and you'll be fine.

The receptionist didn’t look welcoming to us at first, but she went to the extra mile to help us when she knew our boy was sick. She made a few calls to get us a clinic which could receive us and able to speak English. She not only helped us to book a taxis but also brought us down to the street level and ensure we took the right taxis. We like to express our gratitude to her which we didn’t have an opportunity to thanks her properly. The room for 2 persons is rather small with space just for 1 luggage and no proper wardrobe. The room for 3 persons is a better room size and the facility is also slightly better like having a capsule coffee machine and a proper wardrobe . The rooms are clean. Check in and out are at a breeze. The hotel is a short walk from the train station and bus terminal.

Not as nice as the Mitsui Premier - my previous stay in Nagoya - but perfectly ok and half the price on this occasion. Rooms maybe a little tired but comfy clean and quiet. Staff very helpful. 5 to 10 mins walk from station and very easy to find.

We stayed for three nights during October. We have been travelling across Japan for a month and this was the last hotel before flying home - and it was one of our favourites. Easy 5 min walk from the station, quick check in with a complimentary sheet mask. Room size larger than some we stayed in and has everything you need. In house bath, so pyjamas will be waiting for you on your bed. Restaurant is very well priced for those who want to stay in. If you like to get out, plenty of options very close by. Underpass outside Family Mart will take to the station.

We loved the art work all around the building especially on the walls of the baths. The baths were a treat. We usually look for hotels that have baths and these did not disappoint. Coffee in the lobby was available much of the day and was a welcome perk. We arrived before check in time, had a cup of coffee, did the preliminary paper work for check in, left our luggage and scoured the area for dinner options. When we returned, finishing check in was quick and easy and our luggage was already in our room. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant. It is unfortunate that there is no access to ground level near the hotel by elevator or escalator from the underground mall. The mall connects to the station and it would have been quite useful since we arrived in a downpour. When we arrived with our rolling luggage we had to walk above ground in the pouring rain from the station because we knew that we couldn't manage the stairs to ground level from the closest exit from the mall and we really didn’t want to take a taxi for this short distance. At check out we mentioned that we like the the line drawings found around the hotel. We were given a pamphlet about the artist and the work. Other than the inconvenient access, everything here was just fine.

What a beautiful hotel to stay in. We had a large, beautifully spacious room with a large bathroom. We enjoyed our stay here very much. Very close to station, only 5 minutes’ walk, with lots of shops and eateries nearby. The ladies’ bath was large and very welcoming after a long day of walking. The staff were all very helpful, friendly and hospitable. Breakfast buffet was a very large selection of delicious Eastern and Western dishes. Wish we could stay here much longer. Highly recommended.

I stayed at this hotel for a couple of days for a business trip. Check in and check out very fast, the staff was very kind and competent. I booked a single room and was given a really small room, with no place to put my suitcase and no wardrobe to hang clothes on. The decor of the room is modern and I found it very clean, bathroom included. I didn't really appreciate that the toilet was almost in the corridor, without any door closing it, while the rest of the bathroom, including the shower, was rightly behind a door. The wi-fi connection was good, even if could not work so much given the size of the room. Breakfast is typically oriental, but there was something also for me, such as a coffee and cappuccino machine, a few drinks and some bread, yogurt and jam. The hotel is a few minutes’ walk from Nagoya station, where you can find several restaurants. I recommend the hotel for a short business trip, not for a vacation.

This was the best hotel we stayed in Japan. We always stayed in similar standard double room in Japan so our expectation were pretty low. But the room that we stayed was decent sized with nice decoration with spacious bathroom. There is a public bath that we didn't have a chance to use. The staff were very accommodating and let us leave two luggages in the hotel after we checked out and picked it up a day later.
