We stayed in April as part of a group tour. The hotel appeared to have very very few other guests. The food was excellent for both dinner and breakfast. The rooms were very large. To add to the local ambience most of the rooms had straw mats and beds on the floor. I understand that guests with mobility issues were...

This is a nice cozy resort away from city life. Great service throughout my stay here. Room is modern Japanese style with futon mattress, very spacious and well equipped. Dinner was provided as part of our stay and it was amazing, especially the Hida beef. The set dinner was complemented with a mini buffet which included tempura, miso soup, etc....

The Ryu Spa Hotel is set in wooded countryside some 40 minutes drive from the traditional town of Takayama. We were part of a tour group and were offered western style or Japanese style bedrooms. Our large room had comfortable futons and a spacious living area. The staff were very friendly and helpful and our meals, consisting of traditional Japanese...

Really wonderful hotel and spa, in the middle of the mountains, it's autumn and the colours of the trees are amazing. The breakfast is oriental and delicious. The onsen is with alkalin water and the skin gets softly.

We selected to have breakfast and dinner included - would definitely recommend this option. Look forward to coming back. Well worth the money. Excellent place to visit if you really are looking to relax and have a good wind down...

This was a truly wonderful hotel and spa although it was remote. We were on a tour so heading back to the spa at the end of a day touring was devine it was truly fantastic. The food was excellent and as my daughter and I are vegans they went out of their way to cater for us. The rooms...

My husband & I stayed with a conference group during the spring festival (Takayama Matsuri). As other reviewers have said, this is a more traditional Japanese Hotel but there is the option for European bedding if you desire. The hotel facilities were just fine. The Japanese style room we had was really quite spacious by Japanese standards & was absolutely...

Arrived at the resort in the dark and was wondering what we had got ourselves into. In the morning we woke to a lovely rural setting with still a large amount of snow still on the ground. We took a walk up the hill to take in the views which was nice. The resort is not the greatest accommodation we...

Beautiful mountainous scenery. Four feet of snow still in April in some areas. Lovely hotel although a bit architecturally boring. Lounge areas rather old fashioned 80s look. Restaurant rather jaded but the cuisine was excellent. As foreigners we needed help with the food - which was difficult as staff spoke little English. The manager helped us himself and was the...

Beautiful onsen hotel, yet remote, good for travellers who drive. excellent services and food, beautiful restaurant with a view of a snowy mountain slope, which an occasional appearance of wild animals, the two faults which i deduct its mark from perfection is the suboptimal water temp (not hot enough)of the outdoor onsen pool, and the poor hotel wifi
