The hotel is located a bit outside town. One has to take a short taxi drive into town and it will cost 670 yen (+100 if ordered) . There is a limited hotel shuttle bus service. Some staff speak English . It's a hotel Japanese style rooms. They don't go all the way. The diner and breakfast room is normal....

great comfortable futons, laid out each night and put away each morning by staff. breakfasts were just fantastic, a lot of the places we have stayed have been great with breakfasts and hard to say which ones were better but this was certainly up there, especially as we were there for 2 nights and each morning we had a different...

We were here for 2 nights in early July. Room was spacious enough for 3 adults as it is ryokan style and not much furniture to be in the way. Breakfast and dinner were included in our stay. We had the 'Shikisai Kaiseki' Plan. Good way to experience the kind of Japanese food specific to the area. Hotel has 2...

Stay three nights in this hotel, the staff can speak English and very kind. Hotel located at hill toward to the old city of Takayama, so the view is very nice especially in the night. Small things are important. Mostly problems with the room and housekeeping. After a minor spill in one of my toiletries case I had to soak several items in hot water, for an entire day. Came back and not only were they removed from the sink, the discarded, now dirty case was placed back on the active shelf and the plastic...

We had an enjoyable overnight stay at Takayama Kanko Hotel. The Japanese style bedrooms were big and there was a separate cozy tea room. The toilet was rather spacious for Japanese standard with an attached bathroom overlooking the town area. The hotel served one of the best kaiseki dinner among the ryokans I stayed through and breakfast was delicious with...

We enjoyed our stay here. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The Japanese style room was spacious and very authentic. The public and private onsen were all beautifully presented. The breakfast was the best we have had in Japan! There was a different main dish every day and they also offered good Western alternatives. The shuttle bus provided good...

You'll love the view over Takayama from this hotel (but maybe not the walk up there as we found out) but if you're expecting a traditional ryokan experience, you'll not find it here. Essentially this is modern Japanese hotel. Which is fine, there's nothing wrong with that, but it's not ryokan. You will be sleeping on the floor on a...

This is a place to be if you're looking for a winter hideaway with your loved one. Pretty and quiet spa retreat on the top of the hill, with spectacular setting in the winter. Hotel staff are friendly, resourceful and happy to help us with our day activities. Rooms are immaculately clean! We choose a mix of traditional and western...

A beautiful view, the rooms were well presented and the foyer was homely and lovely. Nestled on the hillside with our own balcony, a view from the bath and comfy tatami mats as beds. The food was so good, we had a banquet for dinner and had the breakfast in the main food hall. We had lots of local cuisine,...
