The publicity over promises and the hotel under delivers. The staff are courteous and generally helpful, and the location convenient. But the hotel is expensive for what is offered - a small double room with the bed against the wall making it difficult for one partner to get in and out of bed. Tiny bathroom. Dark, worn onsen for women - quite unlike the publicity photos (which are of the men’s onsen when it was new - now dingy and dark too). Very ordinary breakfast, especially for the price. No inroom safe. We have had better hotels throughout Japan, and would not recommend this one.
This hotel seems like a modern hotel .... The single room was very spacious and they even provided two pillows. The location was not far from The Old Town & The Station. They lent me portable heater when the room was too cold & they would hang a fresh towel by the door if you chose to not have the room cleaned. A set of Pyjama was also provided along with sleepers, hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities. Overall this was a nice hotel.
Good price and good location: quick walk to train and bus station and also easy stroll to the shops. Free wifi and coffee in lobby. Easy check in and check out. Public bathing area clean and spacious. Would recommend.
Location near train and old streets is good and service staff was lovely. Terrific Pajamas. A tourist town so a bit pricey for what you get considering breakfast was not included. I was expecting a little bit more value for money. Didn’t use the onsen on the roof.
Hotel staff is friendly, the room is a bit more spacious than the average Japanese room and immaculately clean. The bathroom was quite austere and amenities were very limited. The onsen on the roof was just fabulous, and a huge bonus of staying here! The hotel is a short walk from the station as well as sightseeing areas in town. Overall, this is a solid mid-range choice for Takayama.
