We picked Takayama Ouan as a convenient location fairly near the station. The entrance area is quite engaging with its raised wooden floor and little shopping area; the breakfasts provide a very good variety of Eastern and Western food, beautifully presented; the hotel is extremely, extremely popular with onsen users. But the rooms are fairly small and there is very...

We stayed there & had good time in Takayama. This hotel has good location, very closed to the station & easy to go to old town of Takayama. Room is clean, comfortable & we really enjoyed onsen bathing on the 6th floor. The lobby is noisy & narrow. Staffs are nice & friendly.

Old standard primitive city hotel trying demonstrate pretensions to high level. Noisy narrow reception hall. Narrow room. Spa (onsen) on the roof - interesting decision, but narrow as well. Standard not interesting breakfast. It seems that hotel is full of people in every place. The hotel is close to railway station (it is advantage) and look itself like station. It...

The hotel is about 3 minutes walk from the JR. The room is just nice and comfortable. The highlight of the hotel would be private onsen but the Q is quite long. The waiting is occupied with massage chair and yakult drink. Mini ramen is served at late supper. The only concern is never bring a big luggage during winter...

This hotel is right next to the station and close to most of the sites of Takayama. However this is not an authentic onsen. The pictures on the internet make this hotel look like an authentic Japanese Onsen, however what you'lol find is that this hotel is a new pre-fabricated high rise. The tatamy matts and fireplace in the lobby...

The place has just been open for a few years so still in a very good state of repair. Rooms a little small but very well furnished. I had to take a little video of the room before I used mine as it was so elegantly prepared, with the daily sweet of the day. You even have to take your...

We've been there last week for 高山祭 (Takayama Spring Festival). And it's the best trip ever. The hotel reception communicate well in English. We've got Smoking Room (but we both don't smoke) ,because the hotel was fully booked. After we checked in, We have to put our shoes in the lockers. Our room (high Floor) was so lovely in Japanese...

You take off your shoes before entering this hotel because the floor of the public areas and rooms is lined with tatami mats. Rooms were comfortable and typically smaller than those in the west. The baths on the top floor are well designed and easy to use for those unaccustomed to Japanese baths. Location next to the train station and...

Takayama is a pretty town filled with rustic charm. We are so happy we managed to book a one night stay at this hotel. This is a traditional Japanese hotel where you can wear the Japanese robes and slippers in the entire hotel. The room is very spacious and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed the private onsen as well. The staff...

We stayed for just 2 nights as part of a 9 day family trip, but would have stayed longer if we could have. The room was lovely and the futon-on- foam beds were very comfortable, and negotiable for my 75 year old mother who recently had a knee replacement. We found the onsen to be beautiful and not at all...
