Comfortable traditional ryokan. As an American I am more used to a standard bed, but the futons were more comfortable than others I have slept on. The ryokan is very pretty, the rooms could stand a bit of refurbishing, but are nice. Breakfast is huge and you should always get the Japanese one as the western one was not really...

The ryokan was very easy to find if you looked it up beforehand. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, offering tips on what to see around town. It felt like a very personal experience - when leaving the inn, staff would bring our shoes from the storeroom without asking who we were (likewise when returning). We stayed in a...

The manager was very friendly with children. When one of my babies was crying, he gave her a toy and some biscuits to make her smile again. Another pleasant surprise was that even male guest get to borrow a yukata. On top of all these, the room was spacious and fitted with modern amenities. In short, if budget allows, I...

We normally do not write many reviews, but wanted to write a review of this hotel because we will never forget our experience here. It was one of the best stays in all our trips to Japan, and our favorite stay so far. Takayama, overall, is a wonderful city. Very friendly people, to tourists and locals alike, and are always...

Overall, excellent experience thanks to very considerate staff and a traditional & cocooning atmosphere! In more details, the hotel is very cute, especially the living room area. Our room was large, comfy and well equipped in a traditional way. I loved the fact that we could choose a yukata from a large panel of options and that we could wear...

The hotel is just across the train station, very unique and clean. The breakfast was also good. The owners of the place were also nice, they gave us heat packs when we were going out:) and they also gave us maps, and things to do in Takayama. We would like to go back and stay there again :)

Nice and helpful staff. Refined rooms and bath area. But beyond a traditional facade, the place is a modern hotel with basic facilities and no garden. Food was really not the point... Takayama in itself was not as exciting as we expected so it was a double disappointment.

I'm a little disappointed when we reached the room. This ryokan is 5-10 min walk from Takayama station so it's centrally located. Hence there is no nice view expected by us from the room. What you can see from the window is other buildings, no necessarily charming ones. It defeated the purpose of us sleeping in Japanese room to experience...

Arrived at noon and check in time was meant to be 3pm but no problem as the staff was able to take our luggage and put it in the room while we headed off for lunch and some sightseeing. Ryokan is conveniently located with about 8mins walk to Old Takayama town and the morning market along the river. There are...

The ryokan is just a short walk from Takayama station, and just minutes away from other popular tourist attractions. Check in is at 3pm but we deposited our bags and left it in their care. When we did our check in later that afternoon, the bags were at our rooms. Do note that check out is at 10 am and...
