The hotel has a great location by the train station and is a 10 minute walk to the historic center. They have bicycles for rent and a really good souvenir shop. Their Western breakfast was amazing; there were so many choices and all was delicious. The only problem I had -- that was fixed however -- was when I arrived... More

My April Globus tour of Japan took our group to Takayama after seeing Mt. Fuji. Takayama has a wonderful local market (I got some tasty octopus dumplings there), part of an old town and the only (not sure on this) surviving administrative building from the Shogun period. The hotel we stayed was the Hilda Hotel Plaza. The hotel was (in... More

Spent one night here with a tour group. As such it suited my needs well. Since I was traveling alone and didn't want to spend time and money at a restaurant, I asked a hotel staff member for directions to a nearby convenience store. She directed me to a 7-11 a few blocks away, much different from those in the... More

Because of the hotels two hot spring baths and the fact it was walking distance from the train and bus station I did not rate this hotel any lower. The baths were very clean and a pretty setting. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. However, the rooms needed up-grading and the buffet breakfast was below average. We did have dinner... More

We stayed here for 2 night during our self organized honey moon. We found a good deal online, the hotel itself is quite expensive - but you get what you payed for! Wide rooms (never found another so big in japan!), great position close to the station and the village touristic center, and wonderful pools with a great view on... More

This hotel has basic rooms, but everything you need. The bathroom is quite small. They offer two hot springs baths in the hotel. They place a robe in the guest rooms for people to wear to the baths. The Japanese guests even wore them to breakfast. That surprised me. The location is convenient to the bus and train station, sights... More

Pros: Hotel is conveniently situated 5 min walk from takayama train station and bus station. Plenty of restaurants, shops, pubs etc all walking distance which is great. Got a superior/double room and it has the largest bathroom I've ever seen. There is also an extra powder room for ladies, dining table area, 1 small fridge, 2 lounges, 2 flat screen... More

After a rather long walk from the station, not worth a taxi even for 80 yr olds, but it was hot we were welcomed with smiling efficient staff. Our room was a little larger than most of our other Japanese hotels with pleasant views to the hills. This was our first small town and it was wonderful.A morning walk of fifteen minutes took us... It is a strange design, our rooms were in a section that had been added and initially confusing to find. The staff were very good and there are plenty of facilities. Even restaurants and shops in the complex. It had well appointed bedrooms quite comfortable.

Our tour guide felt obligated to apologize to us for the low quality of lodging in this property, after we had enjoyed a great hotel in Tokyo. She said there are better hotels, but they are not within easy walking distance of the attractions we came to see. That's a may be, but if I were coming back I might... More
