Ryokan located less than 10 minutes walk from Takayama station. We arrived at 1:30 and although check-in was at 3pm, we were warmly greeted and staff brought our bags to our room. We were given a tour of the Ryokan: simply beautiful! Nice decor and everything was clean. This was our first Ryokan experience and we enjoyed spending time in...

this is the best ryokan we had in this trip in the Nagoya area. everything met our expectation, very nice and fancy dinner and breakfast, very spacious room (even by American standard), awesome service (there's a staff member who speaks English fairly well), nice décor, comfortable onsen, etc. oh, and it has free parking and it's only 10 minutes walk...

Arriving at Takayama on a very wet and cold afternoon; after 5hrs of travelling from Tokyo. 7minutes walk from the train station seem like forever under the trying weather condition. When we arrived at the ryokan, we were warmly received by this pretty young lady at the reception. The young lady patiently go thru the logistics for our 2nights stay...

Unfortunately I only stayed 1 night. I booked a room with dinner included. The staff is super friendly and speak English very well, the rooms are amazing real traditional Japanese rooms, you also have kimonos to use in the dinner, and the dinner experience was amazing, real traditional Japanese dinner. You also have bicycles for free to use in the...

We stayed here for 2 nights and regretfully left this morning. Nothing was to much trouble for us by the staff. The service in the restaurant was amazing and the meals were outstanding. I'm glad we waited until this place to try traditional Japanese meals. Yakatas were included, the Onsen was lovely, so much to see around Takayama, really 2...

Arrived early afternoon room was ready so dropped off bags and went exploring before dinner. The main shopping area was about 15 minute walk away, came back went to the public bath, since inn was small, the bath was empty. Dinner was filling carefully prepped with the area specialities. Choice of western or Japanese breakfast. Staff was very attentive.

We stayed in the deluxe room which is very comfortable and big. I really love the decoration of the Deluxe room. There was a traditional Japanese style of heater but we did not use it. The staff are nice and they can communicate with us in English well. We will definitely stay here again when we come to Takayama in...

Asunaro is just beautiful, from the gracious owner and staff, to the gorgeous rooms, the mineral baths, the lovely restaurant and the beautiful decorations throughout the ryokan. It's in a really handy spot, close to the station and to the main shopping area as well as the old part of town. The kaiseki dinner was excellent. I loved this place.

We had a westernized room which had its own bathroom. Nice room, large enough, but if your looking for a view, it's not here. Overlooks parking lot but since we rarely were in the room we just kept blinds shut and it still had a very nice ambience. Bed comfortable and lighting very nice. Staff very friendly and kind. Did...
