This is a bit old and the room smaller (tho' cheaper) than my other ryokan experience. It is near all the shopping and restaurants so if you don't mind a small room and somewhat worn building, it is a good choice. The bed is comfortable enough.

Mrs. Murataya made us welcome soon as we stepped in the 'door' , Teas and sweets were offered as we sat in the 'western'style lounge/yet had a taste of Japan. Our room was roomy, altho we had 'shared' bathroom, not once in our 2 nites stay did we encounter another guest using the facilities. Very clean and comfortable. Walking distance to...

We recently stayed at Murataya Ryokan which is centrally located to all of the main sights in Kanazawa and near one of the tourist bus stops. Our hosts were extremely friendly and helpful, providing information on how to get to them as well as activities to do there before we even left home. The kids loved the baths.

Far from Kanazawa - Very disappointing Ryokan - in need of urgent refurbishment. certainly traditional but old and smelly stuff - very friendly staff - average cleanliness - ugly and out dated onsen. old towels - average food. not recommended

If you are looking for a real japanese experience, this is the place! As all the japanese hotels/hostels and ryokans, this place is so clean and quite. The room is cozy, in a very sweet japanese style! I payed for a japanes breakfast and it was so good! Just loved everything about it!

My traveling partner and I stayed for two nights at this family run ryokan. It was a short walk from many of the attractions Kanazawa had to offer. The staff were friendly, accommodating, and kind. We had our favorite sushi meal at Ippei sushi next door at their recommendation. The onsen was small, but very relaxing. It is a great...

I spent one night at Murataya while visiting Kanazawa and I liked this little family run ryokan. Location is very good, right behind a busy, bustling area, but nestled in a quiet little side street. It’s just a 10-15 minutes walk to the Kenrokuen and the contemporary art museum. I was welcomed by a young man who spoke good English...

This ryokan offers great service and a good location for a steal. The owners/staff were extremely helpful with everything from the room, to directions and food/entertainment recommendations. I couldn't get used to the shared shower facility though. 1 per gender for the whole place, so you had to walk up and down checking if it was unoccupied. My room was...

The best thing about Murataya is its location. It is situated right in the middle of the city and great access to food places and attractions. 10 minutes walk to Kenrokuen, Nagamachi, or the Nishi Chaya districts. Also just a short stroll to the main Katamachi area to hop on to the circular bus route going around Kanazawa city. Murata-ya...

A relatively small ryokan, very beautiful yet unpretentious. Extremely friendly staff. Great value for your money. Good location near a bus stop and within walking distance to Kanazawa's main attractions. They don't provide dinner, which is nice because other places force it upon you when all you're looking for is a simple bowl of ramen. There is also a hot...
