My partner and I planned a winter anniversary getaway to the Amsterdam castle. We would highly recommend it. The room were comfortable. Clean. Quiet. Spacious bathroom. Double sink. Excellent shower. We wandered the building and admired the artwork. Decorations. Sitting rooms. And then an enjoyed a delicious dinner in the great room. The owner even brought over a couple small bottles of Prosecco to help us celebrate. Located just off the thruway, it was easy to get to and well marked. So glad we went.

This hotel is like no other. It feels like you’re staying in a real castle, complete with a grand dining room and knights in armor lining the hallway. Our superior suite was spacious and comfortable. The sitting room was large, beds were comfortable (1 king and 1 queen), and shower was luxurious. There was a fridge, mid to wave, and Keurig in our room, as well as plenty of closet space. The staff was all wonderful from the front desk to the bartender. We had fun exploring the common area upstairs as well. We had a fun weekend here!

This place is amazing! Feels like you have stepped into the Great Hall in Hogwarts Castle. The room are lovely, immaculately clean, and spacious. The hotel owner and staff were hospitable and accommodating. Don't miss a chance to stay here.

The Amsterdam Castle was wonderful. We stayed in town for a wedding in a super spacious 3 bedroom suite with our 3 kids. the room was massive, all updated, and PERFECT for a family (room 101). The staff was so welcoming and kind. The castle was beautiful and had a bar open at night time for drinks. Highly recommend!

Loved our stay. The room was huge. We appreciated the attention to detail in the design, décor, and even though they didn’t serve breakfast they had microwave pancakes and Keurig coffee. The dining room is beautiful. Would love to return for a meal.

We stayed one night at the Amsterdam Castle after visiting Howe Cavern and before heading to Niagara Falls (we found the hotel on TripAdvisor and were glad we did). We loved it! What a unique place! We had a spacious king room. We enjoyed walking throughout the castle to see all of the art / decorations and the sitting room on the second floor. The hotel was quiet and the staff at the front desk was very nice and helpful (they even gave my daughter a stamp and mailed the postcard she wrote from the castle). The restaurant was closed but we were able to bring glasses from the restaurant into our room to use with a bottle of wine. There was a fridge in the room where we were able to store dinner leftovers and breakfast items. We had a very relaxing / pleasant night in this unique hotel and we would definitely stay again if we are ever in the area.…

Second time here. Long weekend for cycling The Empire State Trail. Easy access from the castle. Great garage for bike storage. This time we had an even better room. Large, 2 queen beds, attached sitting room, huge walk in shower. Very clean. Looking forward to dining in The Great Hall tomorrow. Restaurant was closed when we were here 2 years ago due to COVID. They don’t do breakfast but rooms have full size Keurig coffee makers and they supply the coffee. Refrigerator in room so we just went to the Hannaford grocery and got a few easy things for breakfast. Was nice to relax, read the paper over coffee and breakfast before heading out on bikes. Did need to deal with a restaurant.

We stayed one night at the Amsterdam Castle. I had my wife, myself and 15 year old teenager. We were on one of our finals legs of a 3 week trip to East Coast from Chicago. Staying night on Amsterdam and next morning going to Cooperstown. My wife went to front desk and asked for few blankets for my son. He was gonna sleep on couch in the room. The gentlemen owner whom we never met before was so condescending to my wife. He responded “ those couches are really not designed to be slept on”. My wife responded “ he can sleep on the floor” The owner then went into a conversation about how the county has codes about how many people can stay in the room. The owner acted like we were trying to hide something from him. Like we were throwing this huge party and going to destroy the place. We booked thru Hotels.com and specifically had 3 people in our reservation. We weren’t all going to sleep in one bed. Not with 2 parents and a teenage boy. The hotel was fascinating, clean, interesting, and put together to enjoy a unique experience. There needs to be a person that is welcoming and social at the front of this hotel when people check in. When we checked in there was no mention of restaurant or bar use. No mention of restaurants nearby. Boutique places of stay (Amsterdam Hotel is listed as boutique hotel) usually offer those concierge services and try to go out of their way at yo accommodate. No ice machines in hotel? Loved the Castle, unhappy about the people running the place. There are only 21 rooms in the hotel. We booked Friday night and rooms were empty. We stayed one night in Amsterdam Castle as stopover on our tour from Cape Cod to Niagra Falls. Everything was fine and room was very clean. Parking was free and hotel easy to access from the parking lot. Restaurant was closed at this evening.
