Located about 3 minutes walk from the JR station, the hotel is newly built, the rooms are a little small but comfortable and clean and you have places for the luggage. Tea and coffee in the lobby after 15.00. The complimentary breakfast offers choices of both Japanese and Western food. The staff is very friendly and helpful although english is limited.
Near there is a 7/11 for any other requirement. Free rental bicycles. Nearby is the Washo market where you can enjoy fresh fish and seafood. It also comes with some cycling in the area of Fisherman's Wharf (MOO), the complex is disappointing, but tents are set up outside (overcrowded) with grills where you can cook your own dinner in the venture. In the vicinity of MOO there are also several restaurants with good proposals.
In summary: good solution to badget content....

It is a relatively new modern hotel situated in a convenient location. It is a short walk away from Kushiro JR station. The famous Kushiro fresh seafood market is just a few blocks away, The double bed room we had was very clean and well maintained and it has bidet toilet and shower room. There is good high-speed internet available free-of-charge and the room came with free breakfast. We were expecting just simple continental breakfast and were pleasantly surprised to see a wide selections of Japanese and western food available in the morning. Good coffee is available free every day from 3 p.m. to midnight and guests were encouraged to take the the coffee to their room or out. It was about a 15-minute drive to the Red Crown Crane Sanctuary and about 20 minutes away from the Kushiro Wetlands. Parking with the hotel will cost an extra 500 yen. The staff were warm and helpful and it was a very pleasant stay.

We stayed at this hotel in October 2016 before setting off on a birding/animal trip. the room was very comfortable and included a breakfast. The rate was reasonable too.

Free wifi, included in price.

This is used mostly by Japanese business people but we were fine. They made us very welcome, little English was spoken but we were understood. The room was small but contained everything you needed, even had shampoo, spa soap, body lotion, comb, etc. Tea, coffee facilities also in the room. You were able to get soft drinks at a dispenser by the lift should you so desire.
Although, looking out over other buildings and a busy road, albeit at times, the room was sound proofed.
Bed was very comfortable and clean.
A free self serve breakfast which was very enjoyable. You had to clean your plates etc away into trays provided but no hardship.
The hotel was on the bus route from the airport. It didn't cost very much for about 1 hour drive. We were informed buses were about every 20 minutes when flights were in. The bus stop was just by the hotel so not far to go to the hotel after a long flight from Australia.

To catch the bus back to the airport was easy too as the main bus terminal was just across the road. All well within walking distance for us and we are in our 70's.
There is a convenient store just down the road where you can buy everything.
We stayed there on our arrival and also on our departure back to Australia after a wonderful holiday in Hokkaido.
Biggest highlight for us was seeing the wild bears and the Blakiston fish owl which is the 2nd largest owl in the world. Beautiful scenery a place well worth visiting and we hope to return.

Tripadvisor #1, #2 etc were all booked up so went to the Comfort Hotel. This hotel has a mixture of business travellers weekdays and Japanese young couples at the weekend. Having stayed at Comfort Hotels in Japan before this one was a bit more luxuries. Breakfast had more treats in it than other Comfort Hotels, may be the local produce featured more heavily or that the Tokyu Hotel next to it pushed standards up.

Car parking was reasonably priced in the stacking tower next door to it. First day not enough room for us so were directed to an overflow car park but after than we had our reservation so no problem. Wifi free etc. No other westerners were staying at it when we did but that is like most of Hokkaido where you emerge into the culture or slurping when eating or not :).

It's handy for the cranes and for also driving east up the coast where there are a number of attractions as well as the cranes. Eating for the evening proved a bit tricky so opted to eat next door at the Tokyu, partner on the Japanese food, me staying with the western, unless there is sweat and sour pork..... Tried out an Italian restaurant which was good in the night light area, the Moo was disappointing for eateries.

Fog, yes there was a bit and also a smell of coal or industry around in the town. Fog banks up the coast can make good pictures if the cranes are out. September the cranes were wandering about the fields, with a 600mm lens or plus you could get good pictures. They do have a habit of slowly walking off, so you have to be fast. Watch out for other parked cars or just find your own cranes :).

It is closely located to Kushiro station. You can see it once exit Kushiro station. The warm hospitality of the staff brought some warmth to me as I reached Kushiro in a late wintry night. The bed is very comfortable with good pillows. I'm impressed by the variety of food available during the free breakfast. I truly enjoyed my one night stay here.

Nice, modern but small rooms. Our stay was made memorable by the one staff member who went out of her way to help us. After a busy day we decided to get pizza delivered. Only problem we can''t speak Japanese, so we we asked reception to call. The staff member was more than happy to to do this for us. Unfortunately the pizza company had sold out of our first two choices so the staff member ending up making 3 calls to order our pizza. This was no problem. In fact she apologized that our choices were not available! This staff member went above and beyond to help us! Best customer service ever!

Comfort hotel never let you down, room is specious and clean as always, they guarantee you a good sleep. The best part of comfort hotel is their half-boiled egg, the main reason I choose Comfort hotel is their compulsory half-boiled egg in the breakfast.

Comfort Kushiro is located just opposite the JR Kushiro station. Once you stepped out of the station, look on the left you will see the sign board of the hotel. Cross the traffic light and make a left turn, you will see the entrance of the hotel. Lobby is clean and bright and front office staff are very polite and helpful. Check in is a breeze. Decided to do a last minute change from double room to twin room and the staff immediately check and asked if a top up of JPY800 is alright for us since room is available.
Room size is good for 2 persons and it is very clean, bright with white light. Wi-fi is good and the bathroom isn't too tiny to fit one. Everything is provided in the bathroom and there is a coin laundry on the 2nd floor which is equipped with a camera. This is good for safety and in this room, there are vending machines for drinks which are priced reasonably. Breakfast is just okay if one is not too fussy because it is rather simple without variety. Self service coffee is provided at this breakfast place throughout the day. Breakfast is served daily from 6am onwards which is good for those catching an early train. The two days spent in this hotel, no big crowd was spotted at the lobby, good for those who prefer peace and quietness.
Price is reasonable at JPY7200 for a twin sharing room, inclusive of breakfast.
Will definitely stay again if I visit Kushiro. This is my second time staying in Comfort chain of hotel. Previously stayed in Toyama Comfort and was very satisfied too.

100 % of hotels we stayed in Japan above our expectations. This one is same.
Their included breakfast is far more better than toyoko inn.

When you walk out jr station hotel is just on your left -big sign -much shorter than we thought from the map.

Check in and out were both very quick. For English speakers, a special notes written clearly with breakfast time wifi password and check out time.

Air conditioning is set at comfortable temperature not too hot or cold. Some other hotel no matter how you adjust it is too hot for winter.

We love this hotel. Will consider more this brand in our future travel.

We find the Comfort Hotels to be a safe economical bet, world-wide. This one was no exception. When one is out the entire day enjoying the wonders of Hokkaido, all that is required for the night is comfort, clealiness, and courtesy. As these are the traits of most of this wonderful country, it was no surprise to find them in this basic hotel. I see that poeple often complain about the size of Comfort rooms in Japan. In fact, they just make sense for the pupose they serve - a good night's sleep.

The staff was very helpful, especially in getting us to the nearest Seven - Eleven where we could get some cash. The breakfast was adequate with both Eastern and Western options. The price of about $80 was just right.
