We came to this hotel just for onsen, the facilities are new and clean, and the indoor/outdoor onsen are excellent. There is also a steam room with good scent and dry sauna. Afterward, there is a big lounging area where you can read magazines, drink grape beverage, and enjoy ice popsicle. The fee for non-guest onsen usage is 1230 yen (including towel). Highly recommended.
We came to Hotel Banso only for the onsen. We were on-a cruise and in port for the day. The facility was lovely. We were able to get a massage also. We will be happy to return to this facility on our next trip to Hakodate.
Facilities and room all look new, update and spotless. Bed is comfortable. The onsen facility is good. Serve variety of Japanese buffet breakfast. Can try the dinner buffet too. Like the room balcony. Recommended at Hakodate
This hotel has got to be one of the best Onsen Hotel for the price. Although it wasn’t any big chain hotel, the Onsen facilities are just amazing. Almost everything is provided, Yukata and socks in the room with tatami and futon. The breakfast and dinner buffet is also amazing, so many choices and the food is also very fresh. Thoroughly enjoyed my whole stay!
We have been living in tens of onsen hotels in Japan and this is one of the top three among all~ We have been welcomed by warm greetings from the minute we stepped into the hotel. And throughout our two days stay, staffs had always been warm and helpful. Staffs, especially front desk staffs are having top niche hospitality and has helped handled our requests with keys arrangements, yukata size changes, check out special arrangements and more..all with highest level of hospitality. The room are decorated warm and cozy, with comfortable beds and a nice balcony for us to get some fresh Hokkaido air everyday. Most importantly, the room designed smartly with an additional door before walking into the sleeping area, to avoid any noise penetrating into the room which provides us the best sleep throughout our two days stay. Onsen is no big but adequate for hotel staffs. Amenities were also great. We have chosen to have both breakfast and dinner at the hotel, and we were very impressed by the large variety of food choice in the buffet. Anything you can think of the represent Japanese food. Tempura, freshly made sushi, crab, japanese curry, sashimi, soba etc, and food taste was surprisingly tasty. The one and only downside is, when the restaurant gets crowded, restaurant staffs will not proactively help cleaning the used dishes. But they are still more than happy to do that if you request. The stay was so good that we will go to Hakodate again just for staying in this hotel. Recommended so much to my friends, and one of them has actually booked a room in March because of the overwhelmingly great stay we had. Thanks for making us feel welcomed and cozy, and we will definitely be back. …
It is a relatively new hotel in Hakodate. All the facilities and things in the rooms are new and stylish. When u step into the room, all the things are well displayed, e.g. drawers are half opened to show u where is yukata and safe. Onsen is superb! To top it off, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They even helped us to make a reservation at a local famous Seafood restaurant ‘Hakodate Tei’ despite they are serving dinner in their own hotel.
Located about 30min streetcar ride away from Hakodate station. I really liked this place, even the typhoon didn't matter while I was in here. Room was big and clean and seemed quite new. Staff members were once again very friendly and polite. Onsen was also great. There were couple different kinds of baths, some of them located outside and some inside. And there was only a glass wall between the sections and they opened and closed it depending on the weather. And everytime I went to take a bath, there was only a couple of people there and once I was the only person there. Dinner and breakfast buffets were also great. Huge variety of foods were available and lots of them were seafood of course. Price for one night was actually quite cheap considering it included dinner and breakfast. If I'm ever back in Hakodate I will stay in this hotel again.…
We stayed at this hotel from 21 Aug 2018. The experience was fantastic. The room is nice, comfortable and clean with a traditional Japanese layout. The food is really something to look forward to when staying there as the buffet has a wide variety of Japanese dishes and the taste is great. The children also like the place and food very much. On the onsen, the place is clean and nicely kept. The staff are friendly and attentive, but one should note that they will not allow early check-in even though we were around 2hrs early. You will have to explore the area while waiting to check-in and if you drive there are more things to explore further from the hotel as it is located near to many places of interest. It will also be helpful if they can serve breakfast until 10am instead of 9am. This should be one of the best hotel to stay while in Hakodate. …
The room is big and clean. Room sound proof is very good. Nothing much around the surrounding of this hotel. There's hot spring in this hotel but didn't try. The best of all is the fabulous buffet breakfast.
The hotel is located in a residential area. It offers an indoor hot spring. Room was decorated in traditional Japanese style. Buffet breakfast offers plenty of choices. However, if you arrive a bit early, like 1:30 pm, They won't let you check-in even though the hotel and parking lot were pretty much empty. I can never understand that. It is not like allowing us to go to our room would cost them anything. The staff said they had to charge us if we wanted to go to our room prior to 3 pm. My question then would be if guests leave prior to the check- out time, is he/she going get a partial refund?
