Great for walkers

The hotel was clean overall, and the bathroom facilities were well-cleaned, giving a sense of security. The bathtub was spacious and great for stretching your legs out. I also really liked that the pajamas came in separate tops and bottoms. Amenities were minimal but not lacking. There was no lotion or other amenities, so you'll need to bring your own. Parking spaces were limited, and it seemed like there weren't enough for all the rooms. It was right in front of the tram stop, so it would be convenient for people without a car.

As the weather was rainy in Hakodate, we couldn’t do any sightseeing for the whole day and because of our short stay (only 1 day) in the city, we ventured up the winding road to Mt. Hakodate despite the inclement weather but only got the misty view within the rim of the observatory square up there.
On the contrary, we got excellent service and help from staff of Hotel Nets Hakodate. As we found our car battery dead in the morning, we sought help from the Hotel’s front desk in contacting the rental car company since we got cut off after being put on hold for a long time - probably due to language barriers. The gentleman at front desk helped put us through the call and patiently waited for us to finish the lengthy process. When the emergency help came, we needed the Hotel’s help in translation and the General Manager, Mr. Hiroshi Mikami, gladly assisted us with no hesitation. In the parking lot, he explained the situation to us and recommended that we should get a replacement car since we were going to continue traveling long distance. With our limited Japanese, it would have been difficult and time consuming to get the message across, but with the efficient and speedy help of Mikami-san, arrangements were made (while we waited at the Lobby) within half an hour for us to pick up a replacement car at Hakodate Airport, together with clear driving instructions as well as every possible / necessary details (names and contact Nos., etc.)
We couldn’t thank Mikami-san enough for going out of the way to help us in obtaining a quick solution to our problem, hence minimizing disruption to our ongoing journey. We would like to extend our heart-felt appreciation to Mikami-san and his team for their professional and efficient assistance.
On a separate issue, be aware that most shops as well as those for ramen would not open till late at night, so don’t delay and have your meal during normal dinner time.

Hotel Mystay has been heard for long as they have several properties located all over Japan. This time I choose to stay in their property in Goryokaku, Hakodate because of their low room rates.
Airport bus stop, tram station is just located outside of the hotel and it is easily reachable from Hakodate Airport by bus for just around 25 minutes. The hotel is not located in the busiest part in Hakodate but it's acceptable for taking a 10-minute tram ride to reach the "heart" of Hakodate (JR Hakodate Station & Morning Market). There is a convenient store - Familymart linked with the hotel lobby which you can reach without going out the hotel and you can get some snacks and drinks at night before going up the room. The room looked a bit old style but it is neat and tidy although it's a bit hot at night due to their warming system. The view is awesome with the Goryokaku Tower just in front. Front Desk staff are polite and helpful. However, for those who consider to stay, please note that their standard checkout time is at 10am which a bit early when comparing to other hotels. I have asked for a late checkout but they will charge 2000 yen per hour, thus we refused.
Overall, it's a good budget hotel that I will recommend in Hakodate.

This hotel is absolutely fine. Nothing to write home about, but it is clean, the staff are good, breakfast is ok, and the location works. The rooms can be really tight (our room had one side of the bed directly abuting the wall), and the bathrooms are module style you see in some cheaper hotels. The hotel is also quiet, and the lifts work well.
But here is the thing: it is close to the tram and Goryokaku park. But if you are staying in Hakodate and the budget allows, I would highly recommend staying somewhere that is much more central: either near the JR station/Morning market or the Motomachi district. Why?
* The JR station / morning market are much closer to "the action". Market is ok and there interesting things to do nearby, but you are also close to a place you should not miss: Daimon Yokocho. We really enjoyed our meal here with some locals. Very fun. You can also very easily catch the bus from here up Hakodate-yama to watch the sunset (which can be very busy!). It is also not hard to get to Motomachi - either walking or tram. * Motomachi includes a lot of historical sights, and is just interesting to wander around. There are also some good local Japanese cafes in the back streets worth taking a chance on.
I realise that not all budgets will stretch to these alternative locations, but it is my best advice from our time in Hakodate.

This hotel is located away from most of the main sights in Hakodate, around 15 mins by tram from the station and 25 mins from the docks and ropeway base. But the tram service is frequent, cheap and fun so it doesn't really matter. And the hotel is just 10 mins walk from the fort and its tower. This is a big hotel and service at reception is efficient but rather impersonal. Check-in is 3 p.m. The room is average size for Japan, bright and clean, but with very little storage space for your stuff. All in all an acceptable choice.

The hotel is nice and modern with good amenities and a good price. The parking is cheaper than most others @ 700Yen a night. The room I had with the double bed had ample room and included a closet, cabinets, fridge and was very clean. It is in a good location to get around the city and is also situated along a tram line. There's also an adjoining Family Mart right next to the lobby!

I stayed one night during the goldern week. I thought about to book a hotel near the Hakodate Station at first, but I chose this hotel at last. And luckily my choice was the correct one!
The hotel is right near the tram station, and just a 10-15mins walk to Goryokoku Tower, which is a must go place for a tourist when travelling in Hakodate. I bought a 1-day tram ticket for my sightseeing in Hakodate, so there is no problem with the transport. The hotel location is convenient for me.
For the hardware, the hotel is clean with modern look. The room is small, but there was quite enough space if you have already familiar with the Japanese standard. I like they place a humidifier in the room, as it was really dry in Hokkaido.
The staff are nice and helpful, and I am surprised with the small gift (which was a saup) for the female guest.
My room plan included a 1050yen coupon for each guest, for having meals in the Morning Market (near the Hakotate Station). It was really a great one! I had seafood rice for my breakfast there, and it was so fresh and delicious!! I would recommend my friends to book this hotel if they don't care to stay near the Jr Station or seaview. The Goryokoku Tower view was also a nice one.

We stayed in a 3 bed bedroom, and it was comfortable. The location was right next to the tower and the fortress, and it’s only a few miles away from the morning market. The breakfast was great with many options, mostly locally sourced ingredients like squid and octopus, radish, pickled veggies and fruits. Good bang for the buck.

We stayed for 2 nights. Location is good...within walking distance to Goryokaku Tower (about 10 mins). Tram stop is right outside the hotel which we took to Mt. Hakodate ropeway and the fish market. The hotel is clean, staff is able to speak passable English and the room is a pretty good size. Bed is comfortable. Parking is 700 yen per day but there are limited spots. We did not use car the second day and was able to secure our parking spot. They even gave us a free gift which was the leg plaster to soothe aching muscles from too much walking which came in handy. There is a Family Mart on the ground floor. Overall, a good hotel with good location
