The hospitality of the hosts were amazing. They even drove us to the next hotel we planned to stay after we checked out. The breakfast was fabulous and you must try it no matter what. The rooms are CLEAN. Spotless. And you may see from the photos that the decoration was very special and with a very good atmosphere. You... More

2 years ago I disturbed this dream house. The owner is a couple, modest and graceful. The male owner I called papa was a seaman sailing around the world, that's why some installations are so international, such as the car license plate from New Mexico State. The female owner I called mama is extremely lovely and charming. She talks in... More

Great little place near every major attraction in Hakodate. We tried the traditional Japanese room and had a very relaxing night. This pension is located at walking distances from the city's mayor tourist sights and yet feels very cozy. Bathrooms are communal, but never feel crowded due to the fact that there are just 7 rooms to stay in. The... More

Sato san and his wife are very friendly and warm hosts. Though we only stayed a night, we could feel how they put so much heart into caring for their guests. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Shared bathroom was not an issue, as it was adequate for the number of guests. We didn't face any queue issue with... More

Really pleased to have chosen this lovely Pension rather than one of the big hotels in Hakodate. We only had a day in the city but were helped by the owners of the pension to plan our day and see the best bits of the city. He location is very good - within walking distance of the brick warehouses and... More

This pension is run by the Sato family who will welcome you so warmly and make you feel at home immediately. Especially when you travel by yourself, this is so important. The rooms are simple, but clean and comfortable with shared bathrooms. The pension as a beautiful lounge with a big wooden table where all guests can gather for a... More

Mr & Mrs Sato were exceptional hosts who went beyond expectations to make my trip amazing. I had asked them to make reservations at 2 well-known Japanese restaurants only to have both restaurants turn me down as I don't speak Japanese. Mr Sato thought of an alternative restaurant, and as I don't speak the local language; both he and his... More

This is a comfortable place to stay. Mr Sato and his wife are very helpful and friendly. Mr. Sato waited for an hour at train station to return my phone + charger left in his house. I am speechless when seeing him pop-up in the train. Many thanks Sato san!!

A clean, good value and very friendly guesthouse in the Motomachi district of Hakodate, within walking distance of the tourist sights. There are both Japanese style and Western bedrooms. Showers and toilets are shared. The Japanese breakfast should be ordered when reserving the room, as it may not otherwise be included. Light sleepers should avoid the rooms at the front... More

We stayed 2 nights and were delighted with the service. They provided assistance with our breakfast needs of cereal purchased from the local supermarket providing bowls utensils glasses etc. The room was a western twin but they also had Japanese style. The locality was close to the ropeway, museum of Ainu history, morning seafood markets, old buildings and historic churches.... More
