The first stop of out Hokkaido trip is Hakodate where we stayed at the Century Marina Hakodate Hotel. The hotel is very new and located nearby the JR Station and the ‘morning market’ where you can enjoy seafood every morning fresh from the fishman boats. 20mins walk to the cable car station where you can take a short ride to the hill top and enjoy the magnificent sunset and the famous night view of Hakodate.
The hotel lobby is a touch of art and simplicity but giving people a very warm and welcoming feeling. We checked in on 14Jun24 and were assigned with room 502, a twin bed room which we requested. Room was clean and with all necessity in place. A very nice set of casual suit is prepared for guests to wear inside the room or taking a hot spa on the roof top of the building.
If you have problem with the pillow inside your room, there is a pillow library on 2nd floor where you can choose the right one to ensure you will have a good sleep. Highlight of the hotel is their breakfast. The variety is so many that you may need to stay there for at least 3 days if you want to try them all. This is a hotel that I will highly recommended .

This was our first visit to Hakodate. It's been a while since we last traveled together. We decided on this hotel after reading reviews and stayed for two nights. The location is close to Hakodate Station, the morning market, and the Red Brick Warehouse, and it faces Hakodate Port. We stayed in a twin room facing Mt. Hakodate. We were upgraded from a twin room to a deluxe twin room on the 10th floor, which was very spacious and comfortable. From the window you can see Mt. Hakodate, and next to it you can see the ships anchored in Hakodate Port and the Red Brick Warehouse...it's pretty nice. However, be aware that there is only a shower room in the room, probably because there are so many hot springs.
Reviews say that the breakfast is the best! And then there is the hot spring on the 14th and 15th floors. The 15th floor is an open-air bath, and there is a staircase in the bath on the 14th floor that you can use to get out. It is a reclining bath, and the characteristic of it is that your body floats. From there, you can see the observation deck of Mt. Hakodate nearby, and the moon was out, and the full moon reflected on Hakodate Bay was swaying on the water, which was very beautiful. In the large communal bath on the 14th floor, each washing area was equipped with shower heads from various famous manufacturers.
Well, we only ordered breakfast, and it was amazing! First of all, there was a wide variety of items. If you are greedy, you will be in trouble. Be careful not to overeat! Over 100 types of items were prepared, including Japanese, Western, Chinese, pasta, salad, bread, drinks, sweets, and more. By chance, we were able to get a seat without having to wait in line, but it seems that there can be long lines depending on the time of year. You need to go with plenty of time. To be honest, there is no one thing that tastes absolutely amazing, but the fresh produce is fresh. If you are staying for multiple nights, there are so many items to choose from, so plan your meals accordingly!
The pillow and aroma rental service is also popular. It starts at 5:00 p.m. in the evening at the shop, but you have to line up before that time. There are only a limited number of pillows, so if they run out, you have to give up. There are many different types available. There are about 20 types of aromas available, so you can choose for yourself. Recommended.
The hotel staff are very friendly and will answer any questions you may have, so you can stay with peace of mind.
I would definitely like to stay at this hotel again if I come to Hakodate again.

This hotel opened in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic in 2019. I went there when travel support first started, and I liked it so much that I've stayed here four or five times now. It's like I'm going to Hakodate just to stay here. When you step into the hotel, you can smell a nice scent. I think it's the aroma stones that are available for rental on the second floor of the atrium. When you leave, you return them to the front desk on the first floor.
There are a lot of different types of breakfast, and when they run out, they are replenished immediately. The seasoning of the dishes that seem to be standard is subtly ingenious, and it exceeds expectations. I never get bored even if I stay for several nights, and I thought it was even better than when it opened. There are a lot of salads, and the drinks include smoothies, acai, and sparkling wine, so it's stylish and makes you feel elegant from the morning. I always stay on weekdays outside of peak season, so I don't know what the busy season is like, but even if there was a wait, it was about five minutes. I recommend the premium floor for the room. Of course, the rooms on the regular floors were also clean and I was satisfied, but I think the wooden construction on the walls makes the room even nicer than it looks in the photos. The Premier Deluxe is on the Mt. Hakodate side, but it's a bit far (to the mountain) and there are various buildings, so we stayed on both sides, but it's on a high floor by the sea, so it's not a shame if you're not on the mountain side! And, if you stay on the Premium Floor, a special bonus is that at the breakfast buffet, if you stay there, they will serve you a bento box for each person per night. When you check in, you can choose sashimi or meat. This is quite luxurious, and they bring it to your seat, so it feels special and recommended. At first, I wondered what it was. I had both, but I recommend the sashimi. The bath is also good. The infinity spa (open-air bath) on the rooftop overlooking Mt. Hakodate has a sense of freedom and is relaxing with bossa nova music playing. The water quality is a little thin, or rather, it's clear and doesn't feel like a hot spring. My sister and I love this hot spring, but my husband thinks the bath is not so good. He says it feels cold (atmosphere) and he doesn't want to go in again and again. To get to the open-air bath on the rooftop, you have to climb a flight of stairs and the lighting is dim, so my elderly mother went there once and then took a bath in the indoor bath. The indoor bath is also spacious and has a good view, so I don't think it's a problem. There is also a small open-air bath.
There were Refa and Dyson hair dryers available.
The bar on the first floor is modest but recommended. You can enjoy reasonably priced local beer tasting sets and other drinks, and the staff are friendly.
The shop on the second floor is also stylish and has a good selection of products.

I chose this hotel because the breakfast looked delicious after watching YouTube. I stayed on a Sunday, so it wasn't too crowded at breakfast. The seafood was fresh and delicious, with sweet shrimp, tuna, salmon, and squid. There was also Hokkaido's classic soup curry. There was also a wide selection of fresh vegetables and deza. The room was spacious and clean. There was only a shower in the room, so you had to go to the large public bath on the roof, which can be difficult when it's crowded. I also appreciated the fact that there was detox water available in the space where you could rest after the bath.

We went for breakfast & day use of the SPA. We had high expectations for the breakfast, but other 3-4 star hotels were better, the whole family agreed. The ikura wasn't all-you-can-eat, it was served in a small dish. For the price... it was.
The bath was also very disappointing. The natural hot springs were very nice, but the open-air bath on the roof was covered in moss, and the head part of the backrest (?) had come off and was dangerous. The stairs were slimy and moldy. The towels also had a strange smell. For a hotel that was just built, it was disappointing in many ways. 2000 yen for a day trip bath is too expensive no matter how you look at it. I'm glad I didn't pay tens of thousands of yen to stay there.

This is a modern hotel with an onsen at the rooftop overlooking the bay and Mt Hakodate. The breakfast had a good spread and there were sparkling wines. The quality of the food can be improved but that was on a very strict expectation. They gave us a voucher which we used on a room spray which smells great. We had the massage but the quality was just alright. The room was fairly large and had a good view.

This very modern hotel is located very close to Hakodate station and overlooking the harbour. Our room was a good size and tastefully decorated and furnished and the beds were particularly comfortable. The highlight of the hotel for me was the baths, which were fantastic, particularly the open air outdoor bath with the chill wind whistling past and views over the town. The other highlight was the breakfast buffet, which offered all types of Japanese and western alternatives, and was one of the most comprehensive buffets I have seen during my travels. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this very reasonably priced hotel staffed by very pleasant and helpful people.

When you decide to travel to Hakodate, and you are struggling at a hotel, you will find that "breakfast" is quite a decisive factor. We decided to go for it at the end, probably lost in two or three hotels.
The breakfast is of course varied and I can't get enough of it, but the timing of replenishment and so on are well-established. On the first day I was greedy and lingered quite a long time, but even as the time came to an end, the hot food came out. Some of them are different the next morning, and I think people who stay consecutively can enjoy them. Personally, the champagne was on my nerves.
Even if you think about it without breakfast, I think it can be said that it is a well thought out hotel with various services, rooms and in-house facilities. I did things that I would not normally do such as choosing an aroma or pillow, but the original pillow feels good enough, but it is nice that I can choose it myself. I've been staying at a variety of hotels that I can reach for itchy places and wish I had, but there aren't many of them, so I'm pretty happy.
A lovely Christmas tree welcomes you, and the lobby is sophisticatedly designed. It is a strange space where there are many people but it is not bleak. I felt that the staff's response was not different for different people in different places, and that they were courteous, calm, and the customer service was excellent in every place.
The room was upgraded and the fireworks were visible from the room and stayed overnight, so the large space was comfortable.
The only negative is the elevator. I'll wait anyway. We were working on a new building next door. If you ever come to Hakodate again, I would love to use it. Choosing this hotel made my trip to Hakodate wonderful. Thank you very much.

If you go to Hakodate, this is the hotel you want to stay at. It is a compact and simple hotel. I stayed in a room facing the city, and the Mashu Maru was right in front of me. I was lucky enough to be able to enter the much talked about breakfast without having to wait. Even during the busiest hours, there was no waiting line and I was able to get the buffet fairly smoothly. It is a bright restaurant. Recently, not only in Hakodate, but many other inns have been talking about their breakfast buffets. This was one of the breakfast buffets that excited me, but considering the location, I think they could have put in a bit more effort with the sashimi. The large hot spring bath and the open-air bath on the 15th floor have Mt. Hakodate right in front of you. It feels great. It looks like a roof, but it's not a roof, so I guess you'll have to give up if it rains heavily. The hot spring open-air bath on the 14th floor was closed due to a drop in temperature. I felt that the water was thinner than at the nearby hotels. They are currently digging a new hot spring source next to the parking lot. The changing room is small, so it can't be denied that it gets crowded during peak hours. I can't say anything about how it affects the manners of the guests. Even though it's a popular hotel and busy with many guests, all the staff are smiling and polite, which is wonderful. I'd like to try a room on the 13th floor someday.

It was my first visit to Hakodate in over a decade. I stayed in La Vista before, so this time I tried staying here for 3 consecutive nights, which is highly rated. The room was a deluxe twin on the 10th floor with a view of Hakodate Mountain. There is only a shower in the room, but it is not a bother for those of us in the public bath. The public baths on the 14th to 15th floors are also equipped with indoor baths, open-air baths and saunas, and if you like hot springs, your satisfaction is high. I liked the vast open-air bath on the 15th floor. You can relax while enjoying the scenery of Hakodateyama and the background music will lift your mood even more. However, it is essential to be very careful not to ski as the stairs on the 14th to 15th floors are steep. The sauna is large enough for 5 to 6 people and you can enjoy the view towards Hakodate Station beyond the window glass, but it is a shame that there are only 4 hourglasses that can time the bathing time, so I wanted to ask you to install a 12-minute meter. The highly rated breakfast featured a wide variety of dishes, and it wasn't quite the number of dishes to conquer after three consecutive nights. We like red meat of tuna, so we were very satisfied to eat it. It is located close to Hakodate Station and within walking distance of the red brick. It is a good base for exploring the city of Hakodate. This is a hotel that I want to make a strong candidate for future visits to Hakodate. I can recommend it.
