A two-night hot spring trip with my 92-year-old wife. I was worried about my wife's walking, so we looked for a place with a private bath and decided on Umi to Hikari at Hakodate Yunokawa Onsen. There are private baths and family baths in Atami and Hakone, but they are attached to the room. And they are small. Umi to Hikari has two private open-air baths, each about the size of 3 tatami mats. There are two faucets. The space above the window is open, and you can sometimes see jet planes heading to Hakodate Airport. There are blinds below the window that can be opened. There is only one handrail, which is a bit worrying. The hot spring is a simple spring with a pH of about 7.5. Towels, bath towels, body shampoo, shampoo, conditioner, etc. are provided, but no towels for washing the body. Our room was room 912. We could see the tropical fish tank from the window, and beyond that was the sea. There is a monkey mountain in the tropical botanical garden, and you can see the monkeys.
The hotel staff are all very polite, kind, and considerate.
When we had our buffet meal, the manager seemed to remember us and greeted us by saying, "We've been waiting for you."
My wife was pushing a silver cart, so the attendant always guided us to a place where we wouldn't bother other guests, and we could use it as if it were a private seat.
The staff who cleaned the room also greeted us properly.
When we checked out, the woman at the front desk guided us to a taxi.

We stayed here on our first night in Hakodate and had a beautiful time. The hotel is very modern, new, and clean. The bathroom was spacious with a large bath/shower area. The staff were very attentive and kind.
You receive "room wear / lounge wear" to wear during your stay, and you can wear it to the Onsen, or even wear it to the meals in the restaurant. The onsen is on the 14th floor with a beautiful view of the ocean. There is a private onsen you can reserve as well (best to do that ahead of time, as the private bath can get booked up in advance). There are 2 massage pods on the 14th floor as well, and you get a nice little 15-minute chair machine massage while enjoying the city viewer for 300 yen.
A fun bonus was being able to see the Hakodate Botanical Gardens and Japanese macaques from our room. It's a short walk from the hotel.

In January I stayed for two nights with Superior Twin breakfast and dinner meals.
●Common areas First, the lobby is clean, and the common areas such as elevator halls are clean and well-organized The front desk is very polite.
●Room It is spacious and has a good view, it is only a new hotel so it is finished beautifully, the superior twin rooms have a view but the sea is not visible on the town side My companion stayed in a room by the sea, but the sun was strong and it was hot during the day, so the town might be better in summer
Amenities, bedding and fabrics are subtle Pillows are high, the blanket is thin or heavy My toothbrush is shabby. There's a stain on the floor that you left wiped clean.
● Public bath The view facing the sea is outstanding and very satisfying Just be aware that there is another hotel in front of you and it is definitely visible from the other side It's not wide, there's not a lot of variety, but I didn't feel the traffic or the congestion.
●Meals Buffet-style breakfast and dinner I was satisfied with the variety of sashimi, but otherwise the variety of dishes was small and I got bored on the second day Overall, the seasoning is strong

The view and hot springs were great, but the food was simply amazing. They require an advance reservation so we were able to dine at our leisure without it being crowded. We had planned to go to the station market the next morning, but as we were traveling with three generations, we looked for a hotel with good food and chose this one. The food was better than we could have imagined. The parking lot was a little small, so those arriving by car had to walk a little from where the second parking lot was. Apart from that, we would rate our stay perfect. Next time we'd like to come back just for the food.

This is a super nice, well kept facility sitting across the street from the ocean in a rather quiet location. Double room was good size and nicely furnished and comfortable. Breakfast and dinner buffets were exceptional!! Beats Golden Corral by light years! Though mainly set up for Japanese tastes, good layout of Western foods also available. Desk staff always extremely helpful. The onsen is located on the upper floor of the hotel and provides a good view of the ocean as one enjoys a comfortable soak. Though there are other buildings between the onsen and the ocean, they do not greatly obstruct the view. Only possible knock is location in the sense that it is somewhat remote from a great selection of restaurants, shops and points of interest accessible without a car. The buffet takes care of the eating issues and the botanical gardens and ocean shore are across the street, so this may not be much of a negative. The purpose after all is relaxation.

Love everything in this hotel. The Junior Suite room is a perfect room for a family of 4 with 2 twin western beds and two Japanese Futons on a Tatami Floor in a separated Tatami section. A two person couch and a small perfect working area is a plus. I also love the separated shower and bathtub and the room is nice with Japanese modern style. The onsen is good, especially the outdoor onsen overlooking Sea and mountains. The buffet dinner that comes with a half board is amazing, they also have yoghurt section variety of nuts, cereal and muesli. And the vegetables section is one of the best. So basically the dinner is for both carnivore and vegetarian 🌱. Love the Hewitt Hotel 🏨

The building and facilities are new and the front desk and staff are friendly, but the dinner buffet is terrible. The sashimi is all cheap, low-quality fish. The crab legs are hollow and the small salmon roe and trout roe are not marketable. Naturally, it's not tasty. The way the chefs take turns placing cheap fish fillets on top of the rows of rice balls is also bad. I'm shocked at how many customers are competing for such plates. The sounds of babies crying echo all around the dining area, and the food counter is crowded with unsophisticated people, like a rush-hour commute. It's not the kind of atmosphere where you can enjoy a leisurely meal. And it wasn't tasty. It was a big failure.

I stayed in two rooms for one night with two meals. I was checked in at the same time as a group of Chinese people, so the wait for the elevator was long... The dumplings I was given were very soft and delicious. The coffee in the room was lovely and Hakodate-like. You have to bring your own towel to the large public bath. The open-air bath had a great view of the ocean and was very pleasant. It was surprisingly empty both in the evening and in the morning. The food was below expectations. Even though it's Hakodate, there's no dinner. The only shrimp dish they had was the giant shrimp, which was very hard to eat. Instead, it was quite good in the morning. The donuts were very delicious, so I had a second one. Overall, it's a very clean hotel. The souvenir shop on the first floor is small, but it has the standard items and is convenient.

The hotel design is spacious and feels very new The staff's service attitude is not attentive enough and they don't take the initiative to help. Welcome drinks and wagashi are provided The rooms and hot springs are comfortable, with endless sea and river views. There are only a few points that need improvement: 1. The washing machine in the laundry room has a lot of dust and sand 2. There are insects flying over the buffet venue 3. Although there are many types of buffets, the cooking methods can be improved. The taste is a bit strange and not hot enough. For example, the crab soup is very light, there is no need to put butter on the roasted scallops, and the fish is gritty.

I was looking forward to it because it looked so delicious after watching it on YouTube and reviews. The rooms are very clean because it's a new hotel, and the hot spring was really great! The breeze in the open-air bath is so nice that you can stay in it forever 😊 However, the food was a little disappointing. Most of the crabs at dinner were red snow crabs, and they seemed to replenish them occasionally, and when I tried them, they had a terrible fishy smell. There was also very little seafood like what I had seen on YouTube. There was no conger eel, no tuna, only albacore, and no squid on the first night. I was disappointed because I had high expectations. What surprised me was that there were no potatoes at all. I almost thought, "Are they just leaving them there because it's for a photo shoot?" It was pretty tasty, but I wish I had stayed at a different hotel on the second day in terms of the food. But the hot springs were great
