Compact but functional. Comfortable bed. Great location close to train station , bus terminal and Hakodate Morning Seafood Market and numerous great value restaurants within 5 min walk. Room has the usual facilities. Air conditioning ok but we could not work out how to open window. Stayed 2 nights with no complaints. Reception desk staff were very helpful. Very good buffet breakfast included - the small sausages and scrambled eggs were tasty. Location, location!

I’m unexpectedly spending a night at the Comfort Hotel Hakodate after my flight from Sapporo Okadama was canceled and I got rerouted here due to bad weather. This hotel is just a half block from Hakodate Station and Is easy to find by just looking at the signage atop of each building in front of the station. The location is excellent. And it’s just two blocks from Lucky Pierrot, Hakodate’s famous local burger chain. Comfort Hotels in Japan are reliable, but boring. Great for solo travelers, but because of room size, insane for couples and families. I’ve stayed at several across the country and this one challenges me. The room for me is fine, and since my reservation was made today, perfectly acceptable. The bed is comfortable and it’s quiet. The shower is warm. But what I don’t like in this hotel are two things the hotel is already aware of. The lobby is tiny and groups of tourists gather there needlessly, blocking the space between reception, the entrance, and the ONE small elevator for 11 floors of rooms. That is problem two. Posters in the elevator apologize for problem two, but it’s a really small elevator and unless you like chaos, it will annoy you. It did me. Breakfast is included, and is ok, but go early, or you may find yourself waiting to get a seat. The room cost is reasonable, but understand there is a trade off. Most Comfort hotels in Japan are a four. Given the frustrations you can expect at this one, it’s a three.

This hotel was very close to the train station and morning seafood market. You can easily access the Hakodate tram line right outside the hotel or walk to nearby tourist attractions. The hotel room we booked was a double bed room and was decently sized. From what I could tell, the room was maybe double the size of others. We didn't partake in their complimentary breakfast, but it looked popular. Laundry and vending machines are on the 2nd floor. All around nice stay.

Picked this hotel a it was very close to the station and so easy to get to while dragging bags. Also very convenient for the central Hakodate facilities and shops. The hotel was typical of city centre, budget types i.e. rooms on the smaller side, but the service, cleanliness and value for money can't be faulted plus there was a very reasonable free breakfast. Wouldn't hesitate to use agin if back in Hakodate.

Liked · Right by JR station, bus stops, and tram line runs in front of the hotel. Walking distance to the morning fish market, which I went to get breakfast. Very convenient location. The exterior may look out dated, which I assume it's due to weather, but the room is actually quite comfortable. Great value as well.

I can't recommend this hotel enough! I've stayed at a fair share of hotels in Japan, and I have to say this one really stands out.
Pros: right in front of the tram, bus, and JR station Really good continental breakfast with Japanese and western fare Nice size rooms Laundry facilities Humidifier Izumi San - who was just fantastic with giving us directions on using the bus/tram. She even called to reserve a car for us for the next leg of our trip, in Asahikawa. We later found out that it was a decision to have her do that because the rental agency hardly spoke English. Literally 2 blocks from the morning market and restaurants.
Cons: if I had to look for a fault, I'd say there was no view. Our view was of the wall of the adjacent building, but that's nothing to complain about in the grand scheme of things.
Tip: if you plan on riding the tram more than 3 times in a day, consider buying a 1 day pass for 600 yen. It gives you unlimited rides and trams 2&5 go just about everywhere on the tourist maps.
Would not hesitate to stay there again!

Very conveniently located, less than 1 minute's walk from Hakodate Ekimae City Tram Station, and less than 5 minutes from JR Hakodate Station. It is also about 5-10 minutes from the Morning Market where the seafood is fantastic. From here, you can walk to the Bay Area (~20min) or Ropeway for the night view (~20 min).
The hotel was clean, comfortable and has a refrigerator and TV. Due to cold weather there is no air-conditioning, but you can open the windows to let cold air in. I went in May and the temperature was still 11 degrees.
Booked from the hotel website and paid about 4,500JPY for a single room. Really a great value for location and cleanliness.

Hotel management disable the air-con function too early in the season, making the room way too hot for a pleasant sleep. Don't stay until it's deep into winter when air-con is not needed or deep into summer when temperature so high that air-con function will definitely be enabled.
