I didn't stay the night in the hotel, but the onsen here is excellent. Reasonable prices for use of private onsen rooms, great for a romantic getaway. The hot stones experience is also a must for detoxing and soothing aching muscles from travel. Great!

I didn't stay here for a night, but I used the hot spring/onsen for an hour. The private onsen is great! For those who wanna try onsen in Japan but not familiar with their sharing public onsen, I recommend you to try this~ The property is clean, you can enjoy your own private time alone or with your love one, however lack of English speaker staffs, before going maybe you should check the etiquette of using onsen (hot spring) at internet.

I always love being the first English review of a property, here come my chance again! I have absolutely no idea who you end up finding this place if you doesn't speak a word of Japanese, but since you're here, I'm sure you've found a way to book this place. Hotel Musashitei is a very typical Japanese Style onsen hotel with everything layed out in a very Japanese Style: You sleep on the floor (Tatami), you eat Japanese and absolutely no one here speaks a word of English. I managed to communicate with my very very very limited Japanese and Kanji, if you know none of them, good luck. Reservation: I have no idea how you came across this property if you doesn't read a word of Japanese. Musashitei is only available for booking through telephone (if you speak the language) or on Japanese website such as Jalan, I'm sure you'll able to figure it out with google translate. Getting There: Public bus runs hourly from the town of Otaru up to the Sarigawa Onsen area, however it doesn't run very late and it takes forever. I strongly recommend taking a cab up from Otaru, which will end up costing you too much or simply rent a car and drive yourself, since parking is free and plentiful. Service: Very typical Japanese hospitality, which is a bit robotic but they cater to all your needs with excellent attention to details. Communication may be a challenge for you as none of the staffs we have encountered speaks good enough English for basic communication, but they sure will go out of their way to make you comfortable. Food: Your breakfast should be included in the room rate, they serve breakfast in this HUGE breakfast hall. Traditional Japanese breakfast will be served, which means you'll be eating rice and sashimi for breakfast, and there is no other option, you'll either eat or go else where. I'm not aware if they serve anything for Lunch or Dinner, or room service for that matter. Do make sure you fill yourself up before returning to the Onsen area, as food options are very limited in the area. Rooms and Sleep Quality: The room is HUGE in both Japanese and Western Standard. In Japanese layout, where you sleep on Tatami (or on the floor really) and it also features a nice "Dinning area" that seats 4 and 2x single lazyboy at the end of the room. TV, Water Boiler, Safe, Telephone are all standard feature inside the room. Please be reminded it is extremely rude to wear you shoes inside the room, make sure you leave them outside. The room was very quiet at night, and the warm Tatami bed certainly help me sleep through the cold winter Hokkaido night. Onsen: The Onsen is located on the basement floor, it features a large indoor pool and a smaller outdoor pool in the Men's part. Sitting outside enjoying Onsen while gazing and snowfall is the best thing you can do in your life. Cleanliness: Clean, not a problem at all.
