Stayed only one night during our honeymoon trip in Hokkaido and this was by far the most thoughtful and considerate hotel of our trip! For starters the staff enlightened our day, the lady who took care of us upon our arrival was extremely nice and she brought a surprise cake for our honeymoon! Nice intention. The room was spacious and the view gorgeous. Extremely clean. Thank you all (and specially this lady at the front desk).
I’ve just finished a night at the Grand Park Otaru due to a blizzard hitting Hokkaido the past three days. Most hotel rooms outside Sapporo and Niseko will be tiny boxes. My room here in Otaru is a very spacious twin. I have a mountain view on the 12th floor and the room is warm and comfortable. Very little noise from other guests. The bathroom has an actual tub, as opposed to the unit bath found all over Japan. The bed is comfortable. Easily this room could accommodate two people, or a small family. The lobby of this hotel is beautiful and there is an entrance into the attached Wing Bay shopping center, where there are plenty of restaurants and a supermarket. Sakaemachi is five minutes by car away, or a 15 minute walk. Everything you need for a pleasant stay is here, with no need to go outside into the snow. One of the best hotels in Otaru.…
This is the WORST HOTEL where I'd ever stayed in my life. No friendly, slow action. All travelers from abroad, you can find any other hotel closer to the canal and city center, but not here. Far from sightseeing area. No local buses. Anyway, the staffs of this hotel are not professional. They do what they have to do. As a Japanese, I never recommend here.
We stayed here for one night but were disappointed by the location and room. The view of the ocean was nice but the room very dated and had a stale odor to it. The wifi was terrible and barely worked. It was a 20-30 minute walk to the tourist areas through an industrial part of town. Would definitely stay somewhere else next time.
Nice hotel room is big and nice view. Better for business or group, a little bit far from central Otaru, but JR station is close and easy to get central. Internet was slow especially at night, I don't know why.
We stayed here for 1 night as we visited Otaru - the place was okay and did provide a great view over the ocean however for the price I would recommend staying in Otaru and not around Otaruchikko. Also if you are a vegetarian then I would not recommend it as there are very limited food options in and around the hotel.
Last stayed here during the summer. This time came for the ski season. Mountain view room is also very nice (vs. sea view), overlooking the village in snow and railway (from a distance). Sound proof is excellent. The buffet lunch is excellent and of great value. Although it's less premium than the weekend dinner version, but the price is also very reasonable. Definitely much better than going to food court. The fried rice with seafood is so good. Also the Fried chicken with salad dressing. (Both dishes I usually avoid in buffet.) The western dishes could be improved though. The hotel sits on top of a shopping mall with supermarket (Aeon), food court, etc. so it's easy to get everything. The room deco is more traditional yet very well maintained. I am very happy with my stay and will come again.…
Hotel near JR station, in fact it is linked via the Aeon mall. No worry about crossing of roads or losing direction. Room abit old but it is spacious and good comparing with those in Sapporo. Just love the location and convenience of the hotel.
If you need internet access, this is not the hotel for you. There is something that is blocking many sites. Yahoo mail seems to load fine but many innocent sites like news, product review sites are not working. Mobile gaming can only load intermittently. The lobby Wi-Fi seems to be fine. I have friends on multiple floors having the same problem. There are also past reviews with this problem mentioned.
Stayed at Grand Park Otaru for 3 nights in Jan 2020. Pleasant stay. We were in Otaru mainly for skiing, so didn't really go into the city to check out the canal and other sightseeing spots. The hotel is located not far from the express way, so it is easy to get onto the express way heading to Kiroro, Sapporo Kokusai and New Chitose airport. There is an underground carpark and it costs 1000 yen per day parking, multi-entry. There is a shopping mall connecting to the hotel and it has a few restaurants and a supermarket. The JR train station is about 15 mins walking distance, mostly indoor (until 8pm) through a massive multi-purpose shop (they sell everything). The hotel is a little dated and there is no gym. Nevertheless it was comfortable, good location, and good value for money. Recommended!…
