WOW this hotel Private onsen. AMAZING service. Amazing food. SUPER CLEAN AND SO MANY FREE AMENITIES. Best hotel stay, seemed better than luxury, with large tv with Netflix. Mochi snacks. A PLACENTA FACE MASK FREEBIE??? Free Kimono Yukata rental. Originally we did not get Hakone Ginyu Ryokan Collection Reservation, but we are so happy with this Ryokan it seemed like it was exactly what Ginyu was, at half the price!!
We recently stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in oct 2019. one of the best experience of our holiday. Hotel is in good location. Staff in hotel is very very good, knows exactly how to treat a guest. We are vegetarian, although there was a selection of salad and so, waiter, Yashimasa Kamakamiot went out of his way to prepare special vegetarian food for us. He wanted to make sure, not only that we have eaten something, he made sure that that we were happy with the food he prepared with the help of chef iAds. Very impressed the way he looked after us. Every where it was the same experience in hotel. Reception staff, staff at onset. Defiantly will stay there again in our next visit to Japan.
It was expensive but the staff were very nice and they carried your luggage to the room. dinner and breakfast was included and they are free buffet. In addition, they have indoor and outdoor public baths which are really good.
We have been to Japan many times before, but this June just had a few days on our way to Southeast Asia. So we opted for a couple of days in Tokyo and a couple in Hakone. Okada was a comfortable and convenient jumping-off point to tour the area. The hotel is enormous and, while it's true that some areas could use a bit of renovation, we quite enjoyed our Japanese-style tatami room (perfect size for the three of us, would have been tight with four) on the 3rd floor. In particular, our daughter loved little details like a cabinet of slippers, lighting controls that changed both brightness and color tone, hot water for green tea, and new Japanese sweets each day. Our room came with breakfast and dinner buffets -- tremendous variety (Japanese, Western, Chinese), some delicious and some not so much. Overall, really fun to go to meals in robes, try new dishes/desserts, and eat cold noodles for breakfast. Baths on the 8th floor of the hotel are fairly boring (one indoor tub, one outdoor) but have excellent amenities (massage chairs, every toiletry you could need) compared to the many onsen we've been to in the past. My wife did have an incident that was shocking for her, but quite comical in hindsight: a (Chinese) man was naked in the women's bath at 6:00am! He was the only one there so early, so my wife walked in and found him changing, ran out of the locker room screaming to fetch a staff member, who then ran in and berated the man, who didn't understand a word she was saying in Japanese. Anyway, at check-out I received a highly embarrassed apology about the incident. Much better in terms of baths is the onsen a short walk up the hill (they give you a ticket to get free access), which has several lovely outdoor baths with tranquil mountain view. Overall, we found the service acceptably friendly (just to counter some negative reviews) but have no idea how the experience would be for non-Japanese speakers. One element that detracted from a relaxing environment was the presence of numerous (noisy) Chinese tour groups -- I'd say at least half the guests were Chinese. Next time we might try a much smaller place to stay, but we were happy with this visit to Okada.…
The onsen was absolutely fine but the rooms were terrible. We stayed in room 1006. There were dark stains all over the carpet, the bedcover had a white stain and the room looked like it hadn't been renovated since the 70's. The room also had a nasty smell that wouldn't go away. Would definitely not recommend. I'm just happy that I'm only here for one night.
