TEN STARS should be the true rating for this culinary and design masterpiece! This Ryokan is by far the most outstanding in terms of comfort, uniqueness, style, quality and service that I have ever enjoyed. The “in-room” hot bath right on our balcony pipes in real mountain mineral water and the omakase breakfast and dinners were absolutely MAGICAL! This would be my most highly recommended place to stay while in Hakone! This Inn, in it of itself, is a vacation destination! Big thanks to all the wonderful staff for making every minute of our stay awesome!
We had heard this Riyokan was good, but it was simply outstanding. When we arrived we were greeted by multiple staff who took our bags, sat us on stools to remove our shoes and then brought us tea. Service throughout was outstanding. We had booked a room with a private onsen. The room was was large and comfortable. The onsen had great views. The building itself is of modern construction, but this has been carefully hidden using traditional materials which gives it an authentic feel. The beds are western beds which was a welcome relief after several days in more traditional ryokans. Dinner was amazing. Everyone is served in their own private dining room and there was just the right delay between each course. Presentation is stunning (see the photo) and the menu was first class. This was the best kaiseki we had over our 2 week trip (and we had some good kaiseki elsewhere too!) There is a beautifully done, public onsen which is well worth a visit. The staff will also drop you off in Gora, or at the cable car, when you go out for the day. Highly recommended; would go back again without hesitation.…
This place was the best of all the hotels we stayed in Japan. Beautiful facility, beautiful rooms, and private onsen in room. The food was incredible, beautiful presentation, private dining room and the most incredible service imaginable. Breakfast and dinner included in the two days we stayed. Each was memorable. Our travel agent picked excellent hotels wherever we stayed in Japan, but I changed the hotel in Hakone to the Gora Hanaougi. It was by far the best hotel and probably one of hotels we’ve stayed in around the world that we will always remember. In addition, the entire hotel staff provided unbelievable service.
I chose this ryokan based on other reviewers' positive comments and I am so glad i did. The food is excellent, and the onsen water quality is great. A quiet relaxing getaway from the busy Tokyo metro area.
Excellent service and food, it ranks near one of the top onsen hotel we have stayed. The room is nicely decorated and clean. English communication will not be an issue here. It was on a weekday in July and it was not crowded, it has many rooms so we did enjoy the extra privacy and quietness.
