This was a lovely place to stay and staff where very friendly. Onsen was lovely and was close to the shops and restaurants. Did have to walk up a big hill to get there. First night had a strong smell of diesel from a closed window (room 101) but when mentioned to the staff they moved us rooms and where very helpful and much better in the room next door. Recommend staying as lovely hostel.

I stayed in a Japanese style room with a friend of mine. The room was spacious and had a nice fragrance from the tatami. The communal kitchen was clean and functional, with all cooking utensils and serving plates that you need for a TV food show (on the run). The lounge was again spacious. You don’t need to rub shoulders with anybody if you don’t want to, plus you can take refuge in the serenity of the patio. The indoor and outdoor onsens are the crowning jewels. Nice complimentary drip coffee and jam and butter in the morning - remember to bring your own bread. To call this a hostel is almost trifling with reality. I will consider it a as a ryokan with self catered meals.

From the moment we arrived, we were simply awe of the amazing beauty surrounding us. From the friendly staff, to the down to earth vibe people, we knew we made the right choice. You can’t go wrong by staying here. I highly recommend it. It’s hands down the best hostel I’ve stayed in. I would recommend getting the traditional Japanese style room and using the traditional onsen.

Staff speak good English. Rooms, toilets, showers were clean and quite large. Washing machine and dryer weren’t the largest, but a small fee of 300¥ to use both makes up for it. Staff provide washing powder. There is are 2 onsens, one indoors and one outdoors, but we didn’t get a chance to use it so we can’t comment. So far this hostel has had the best kitchen. It was clean and has everything you need.

I would rate it 6 stars if it was possible. This is one of the best hostel in Japan -if not in the world-. It's new, spacious, with a terrace which allow you to see the surrondings, and the very top : an onsite onsen. Highly recommended!
