This hotel was perfect for our 3 night visit in Yokohama. It's near by many good sightseeing places and museums, such as art museum. Shopping is also easy because big shopping mall is couple minutes away. View from hotel is great, you can see city view from lobby area. Cocktail bar offers nice drinks and breakfast was tasty, yet bit expencive. Rooms were clean and spacious. We really liked separate toilet and bathrooms. I would stay this hotel again.

Ok breakfast. I'm western so I missed some bread though, but the scrambled eggs were good.
The breakfast area was very noisy (mainly due to music and not the people)
The same goes for the lobby area. There is a self playing piano which is very loud and annoying (that's of course my private opinion; some people will probably not be annoyed by it)

The bar is in the lobby area and didn't give me a "relaxed" feeling. Prices were pretty expensive.

On the positive side I would emphasize the location which was very good.
The bed was also very good so I had a very good sleep.

The Mitsui Hotel actually is a nice Japan chain hotel. Also this one in Yokohama, Minatomirai area, very near to the harbour n bay view. But alas, the staff is not helpful for checkin process, not as kind as usual japanese culture. No member or regular customer privilege treatment, just a standard service.

No good for families

We booked a stay here at the end of our 2 week Japan holiday. We decided on this hotel in particular as it offered a swimming pool. Because of bed configuration we booked 2 rooms. Unfortunately we arrived to discover the swimming pool is only open from 3-8pm and anyone under 140cm (my 10 year old) is only welcomed until 6pm and must be accompanied in the water with an adult at all times.

Anyone even entering the pool deck must be in a swimsuit. I feel this is simply to accommodate the social media vibe as every person on the deck was there for the selfies.

We are leaving well before 3 tomorrow so our opportunity for taking a dip is limited. A brand new hotel that cannot accommodate a morning lap swim seems like a big miss to me.

Onto the rooms. Tiny, and awkward with basins in the bedroom area rather than in the bathroom space. Odd.

Shower also only has clear glass door so if you’re here for a romantic weekend with a partner that may be fine but families with teens wouldn’t mind a bit of privacy when showering.

As mentioned earlier the room configuration with only twin beds meant we had to book two rooms. We did so but when we arrived they were unable to accommodate us on one floor. Again. Not family friendly.

Four elevators service the guest rooms and they are crazy slow. With our family split over two floors it was endlessly frustrating.

Yokohama was fabulous just wish we stayed at a different hotel.

Design new hotel with great potential but with lots to be adjusted.
Bit difficulties of communication with the staff, very kind and dedicated by the way. The "pond" on terrace it's advised not to be a swimming pool but didn't know it is a kindergarten for young couples . Enjoyed our spacious room but difficult to arrange our clothes, being there for quite long.
Loved the "Bello Gatti" bar and it's drinks

26th – 29th August 2023 Yokohama, Japan
Mitsui Garden Hotel, Yokohama
Some random thoughts / comments regarding our stay as they spring up:
- Taxi arrives at G/F, no porter service but guests have to wheel luggage to 20/F to check in
- ultra modern hotel, bright & airy, spacious lobby and so new – freshly opened in mid May 2023
- push through glass doors to fully exposed outdoor lounge with sofas and low coffee tables to sit and chill while enjoying a wide stretch of city view through wide glass panels
- minimalism theme throughout the reception, lobby and extended to the rooms with clean, light beech minimalistic design
- check in smooth and staff even though not the most conversant in English, pose no barriers in carrying out simple conversation
- guests are to collect toiletries at a small nook beside the check in desk before heading up to the room--- choice of individually wrapped razor ; toothbrush+ paste ; shower cap; vanity set, comb, Q-tips to put inside a white zip-bloc to bring along to the room for own consumption
- all toiletries are displayed bare for guests to take at liberty and every guest feels at ease to take what is needed without any staff there to peep over their shoulder—very generous hotel policy indeed
- two bottles of water , tea sachets and drip coffee replenished daily
- iron + ironing board provided upon request
- the entire hotel, i.e. everywhere smells fresh, everywhere looks bright and clean
- bedding and towels all white, fluffy and clean
- slippers provided
- USB and sockets all well positioned in the room
- Telly available and a bottle of room freshener spray provided
- shower & bathtub in one enclosed area to save space which in fact is a good and efficient idea to have everything confined to one space
- very powerful shower with stable temperature that is easy to adjust
- shower area completely watertight so can fully enjoy a nice relaxing shower after a long day and no need to mop the spills afterwards
- body gel, shampoo + conditioner all in three separate commercial bottles with dispenser firmly installed onto the wall
- big clean panes in room for a nice view overlooking the city and partial harbour
- furniture in room is all clean and sofa not sunken, which is one of the advantages of a new hotel
- room is not very big but very comfy because everything is very functional while minimalist design gives a contemporary, fuss-free vibe
- spacious , bright and clean lobby on 20/F where there is an auto-play piano and there are sofas + reading floor lamps all around the piano, so guests are free to sit and relax with a book or just enjoy the piano when it auto plays at stipulated times
- an intimate bar on the other side of the lobby overlooking the pool, but closes before 12am
- a gym + pool also on lobby level
- a restaurant on lobby floor that serves breakfast
- “ Lawsons Convenience Store “ on 2/F, 7-11 and family Mart also close by
- Yokohama Cosmo World and Marine Park at walkable distances
- Safe, calm , clean and quiet environment
- “ Western Hotel “ right across the road and subway station a mere 7-8 minute walk
- “ Markis “ shopping mall five minutes away where they have a floor with 7-9 eateries e.g. ramen, burgers, ice cream etc
- Haneda Airport in Tokyo is 30-35 minutes away by taxi
- Starbucks, multiple cafes , book stores, car showrooms , banks, food halls within walking distance
- 15-20 minutes walking distance to two to three bigger shopping malls e.g. Landmark Towers where international brands like ZARA and H & M are found
- Easy , nice, breezy, safe and very enjoyable walk to waterfront for a leisurely stroll where there is a pretty Ferris Wheel all lit up every night
- Check out is fast and upon request hotel will arrange a taxi to the airport
- this is the best time to experience this hotel as it is so new and everything is very clean
- will definitely recommend this very new and modern hotel to anyone who places minimalism , cleanliness and serenity as selection priorities

In contrast to the many positive reviews, all of which highlight the decor and design, it should not be forgotten that there are also one or two practical considerations.

Yes, the hotel is super new, super modern and very, very stylish.

But I don't get any benefit from that if there is no space to put a suitcase anywhere, let alone open it (we always did that on the bed). That may be fine if you're travelling with small hand luggage - but for two adults with large suitcases it's damn annoying. Just as annoying is the new habit of not putting the sink in the bathroom, but in the hallway: you basically brush your teeth next to the bed. Sorry, at some point there were good reasons to separate a bathroom with walls and a door - I found the sink in the hallway very unpleasant.

Last but not least: if you offer rooms with their own washing machine, you can assume that guests who book these rooms will also want to do their laundry there. The machine is only in Japanese with no English manual and although the staff are happy to come to your room, they cannot operate the machine themselves - we dug out instructions from the internet. There is one (!!!!) packet of washing powder per night (no fabric softener...) - when we asked, we were told that you are not allowed to wash more than once a day. The stylish lamp in the room is no help to me if it illuminates a washing machine that I am not allowed to use as I would like.

In summary: you can do it - we would not come back again.

A friend who likes Mitsui Garden Hotel Toyosu invited me to go to the new one in Yokohama, so I went there to see Yokohama. It's only been open for 5 months, so it's a brand new and clean hotel. The staff were very polite. I was surprised that the front desk was on the 20th floor, but when I entered the room, I was even more surprised by the wonderful view. The hallway and the room are unified in chic colors, creating a calm atmosphere. The bathroom and toilet are separate private rooms, the vanity is inside the room, and a wooden sliding door separates the room from the vanity, bath, and toilet. I wonder if there is any point in having a glass bathroom door. If you are a couple, it may be fine, but if you are not using the bathroom, the sliding door is closed when someone is using it, so you end up not being able to go to the sink or toilet, which can be inconvenient.
