Visited this gorgeous hotel one month ago, and it was such a perfect experience last time we are back again one month later!! Location: Hotel located right next to Lake Chuzenji. So if you love water activities, there are duck boats or kayaking for rental. Watching the view of the lake from the hotel restaurants and grounds is such a pleasure. Service: Michael was so considerate and helpful during our entire stay. He remembered that we were busy last time we visited so we did not participate in any activities during our last stay, so this time he helped us organise a star gazing tour and also a bike tour beforehand. He is so friendly and detailed oriented, we felt so welcomed and were very happy to see him again. And of course everyone in the hotel, the reception lady in Lakehouse restaurant, the staff in the front gate, everyone is incredible! Activity: Highlight of our trip is definitely the bike tour. We are very lucky to have Natsume to guide us. She speaks great english and explained everything so well! It felt like we were biking with a friend. And she takes amazing photos too! We felt very at ease and comfortable and enjoyed every minute of our tour. We are so glad Michael signed us up for the tour and we had the chance to experience this with Natsume! Highly recommend to those who want to bike around. The tour includes the British embassy and italy embassy and also a temple. It is about 90-120 minute long. The bikes have electric and non electric option so it is suitable for beginners too. Thank you all for an amazing weekend and will visit this hotel probably really soon again!

Written by my 11-year old daughter, Myiesha Jain: Tomorrow is my dad’s 40th birthday, and we are at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Nikko to celebrate. We were greeted by Masa-san, the General Manager, who welcomed us to the beautiful hotel. Then, we were escorted to the hotel room of our dreams by Estelle, the Guest Relations Supervisor. I opened the door to our luxurious hotel room, immediately blinded by its beauty and the views from the room. First thing I noticed was that on one of the twin beds in our room, there was a pack of towels stacked up together like a cake. Then, there was a sliding glass door to a separate room with a beautiful view before our eyes overlooking the famous mountain, Nantai, and lake Chuzenji. Inside the room was a table, with a tiny plate with an edible chocolate monkey resting on top. I took a bite and chocolate oozed out of its shell. Estelle surprised us with a delicious looking cake shaped like the number 40 and set it onto the table. The cake was creamy, sweet, and simply divine. After having a slice, and then diving in again for a second, I scanned the rest of our hotel room and opened another sliding door to an elegant bathroom, furnished with a wooden drawer with a huge candle and vase on top. Two robes were hung on each side of the drawer, and there was one sink opposite each one. To the left of the bathroom, there was a square bathtub with a splendid view of the Nantai mountain and the sky. When I escorted myself out of the bathroom, I took a second to enjoy how the walls of the whole room displayed a perfect mix of modern, traditional, and unique. The ceiling and floor was wood, and the walls had different triangular tiles and patterns on them. To summarize, the whole room was overwhelming in the best way possible. I lay down on the cozy, warm silk sheets and began writing immediately. This was a memory that needed to be written down. Later at dinner, I wore a silk, baby pink dress with floral designs on the edges. I put on some shiny pink ballet flats and went down to the restaurant. The sky was misty and cold, giving me an enchanted feeling. I walked down a bridge with a roof on the top, taking a few side glances to just admire the foggy, mystical trees. After crossing, I went inside a fancy restaurant, warmth overlapping me from all corners. Me and my family took our seats at our table and ordered our vegetarian meal of pastas and pizzas. I stuck my fork into a piece of pasta, and the moment the bite settled on my tongue, I slightly slumped my shoulders and moaned at the spectacular meal on my plate. It was just too bad that the pasta was finished so soon. Despite my stuffed belly, I couldn’t help having a few slices of heavenly margherita pizza, and enjoyed it just as much. After dinner, it was impossible to get back to the room, due to the fact that I was basically limping because of my happy stomach. Who cares about dessert when you can enjoy such a delightful meal? Once our scrumptious dinner was over and we were back in our massive, to die for hotel room, we quickly changed into yukatas and went to the relaxing onsen the Ritz-Carlton had to offer. I quickly washed myself in the private showers, and dipped my foot into a steaming hot onsen. Eventually, I managed to get my whole body in there, and sighed as the relaxation hit me. I closed my eyes and felt a joyous, indescribable feeling in my body, letting the onsen whisk away all of my worries and just drift them away in the waves. When I got out, my legs felt like soggy noodles, and I wobbled to the cold onsen. It was freezing, and the moment I got in, I immediately began shivering and stuttering, goosebumps sprouting out my legs and arms. But eventually, I got used to the cold. After a few minutes, I got back up and went outside to the natural hot spring, which held water from under the Earth. The water was lukewarm and green, blurring my body. For a bit, I had to keep my restraint to just drift off to sleep. I watched the view of large pebbles and rocks before me, and then just let the onsen’s purity bathe me. But after a few minutes of enjoying the privilege of being present in it’s lovely waters, it was time to step out. I quickly wrapped a towel around myself, dried my hair, put on my yukata, and waddled back up to the hotel room for a well deserved slumber. Overall, there are no words to describe how amazing the day was, and if I could repeat it again, I definitely would. The next morning, I peacefully awoke from my silk sheets, taking in the fresh air of the window, and admiring the lovely view. I squealed. Today’s my dad’s 40th birthday! I handed him a card and hugged him tight. But then, I widened my eyes. Time for breakfast! Me and my family wore our slippers and went downstairs to another restaurant for a plentiful amount of food to fill up our starving bellies. We all took our seats and waited patiently for the exciting meals that were being prepared for us. Since our stomachs were growling louder than lions, my mom first got us some cereal. After finishing that up, a waitress brought in a basket of croissants and bread, which we happily munched on. I slathered some strawberry jam onto my croissant, and took a bite. Simply perfect. Then, a waiter brought in a plate of two tiny waffles, with honey and cream on the side. There was a tiny wooden bowl beside it with strawberries, watermelon slices, and blueberries. I stabbed my fork into the fruits, attacking them until the bowl was completely empty. Then, I rubbed my hands and stared at the waffles devilishly. I poured the honey on, and then spread a bunch of cream on them. When I took a bite, it felt like my whole life flashed before my eyes. I swear, this was the best waffle I had ever had. Seriously, how have I survived without this for so long? Unfortunately, breakfast ended way too quickly. I guess the old saying is right. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. After getting back to our hotel room and taking a quick shower, my family and I put on some shoes and went downstairs to go to Kegon Falls. In a couple of minutes we reached a building where we could take the elevator and go up to a viewing point for pictures of this incredible waterfall. We quickly rushed inside the elevator, and the moment the doors opened, we went up a set of stairs to a rooftop platform with an expansive and impressive view of trees, mountains, and of course, the beautiful Kegon Falls. The huge waterfall was a pale blue col and truly was one of the most breathtaking wonders I had ever seen. There were even some mini waterfalls surrounding it. Obviously, I took so many pictures that I was out of storage on my phone. For a bit, we just chilled and took more pictures up there, but most of all, we stared at the natural beauty before us. Why are we humans destroying these glorious treasures produced by our Mother Nature? Sadly, we left as soon as we arrived, due to the fact that it was almost time for yet another amazing activity to take place. But luckily, we cherished and clung to every moment we got. We quickly got back to our hotel because the next activity was…the Ritz-Kids Monkey Hunt! Basically, one of the hotel staff hid some monkeys and marbles around the hotel, and it was our job to find them. And while we were waiting for it to start, a miracle happened. The person who was organizing the scavenger hunt was a school alumna, Emma! Such a small world. I hadn’t seen her in what felt like forever, and it was just so heartwarming to see her here. So, me and my brother spent our time collecting monkeys and marbles, and afterwards, we followed the maps Emma had given us to a treasure chest. Inside were different goodies, like Disney mini erasers, toy cars, squeaky toys, and more. We each got to choose one item each, and I decided to get the Minnie Mouse mini eraser pack. Emma also gave us glow sticks to take with us as well, and was so generous that she even offered to hand some origami papers to us. The scavenger hunt was such a blast, and I am so grateful for Ritz-Carlton and Emma for organizing this for us, because we truly enjoyed scouring the hotel, with the hope of finding a monkey or a marble. If you plan on going to Ritz-Carlton, I definitely recommend this activity for children. After getting back to our rooms, I changed into a rose pink dress, and went down to a feast of creamy mushroom and cheese risotto, pizzas, and more. Before I even knew it, our plates were so empty that they were basically clean, and our tummies had gone from hungry to as stuffed as a teddy bear. Later on, we all grew tired and went back to our hotel room. I flopped onto my bed, which probably wasn’t the best decision considering the fact that my belly felt like it had just eaten for two. But as I thought of all the memorable adventures and memories I had made these few days, a hint of a smile creeped up my face. Tomorrow I was leaving, and honestly, I was going to miss this place. It’s glorious luxury, the onsen, all the activities they had to offer, everything about it just made me want to cling to the walls and never leave. But alas, amazing holidays always come to an end. If you are looking for a 5 star experience of a lifetime, you must come to Ritz-Carlton, Nikko.
