This was our first experience of a Japanese Inn and we really enjoyed it. We had beds rather than futons, which at our age (70's), is a great help. Everything was clean, neat and tidy. No in room frig or tea making facilities, but a common frig was nearby and tea making available at all times in the dining room....

Great if you have a car, or can give directions to the taxi driver. It is a 10 minutes’ walk to the main Nikko temple area, and to the and eerie Kanmangafuchi Abyss, with its red-clad Buddhas overlooking the rapids. The owner takes really good care of you. The rooms are typically Japanese small. There are two bathrooms with heated...

I stayed at this inn for two nights in September 2015. I have to say that I was impressed given what I paid. I had a single room. The room quality and furnishings were reasonable, though I found that my futon was not very comfortable. This inn is well located for access to the major shrines and temples (first one...

This was a great place to stay. The rooms are clean and it was cool in the hot summer. Breakfast was good and the hotel baths excellent. It is close to the shrines and bus stops (though buses up to the lake can be full by the time they get to the stop). The hosts are very very helpful -...

We booked a Japanese style room: cosy and comfortable. The place is clean and very well managed. Staff is super! Excellent breakfast at an extra cost. You can also take advantage of their thermal baths included in the price. A nice cotton yukata and slippers are also provided.

A nice little inn located within easy location of the UNESCO temples and pretty much most temples of interest. Even better it's about 10 minutes walk to Baze Jizo Abyss with all those eerie statues. The owner of the Inn speaks a good level of english and really happy to help especially with points of interest, restaurants and helpful information...

We stayed for two nights in a twin western room. The room was clean and there was enough space. Personally, I am not a great fan of blankets on the beds instead of a duvet but maybe that's just me.. We used the large onsen in the hotel which was also clean and nice. Breakfast was a little expensive but...

We stayed here for 2 nights on a recent trip to Japan. After 6 nights in Tokyo this lovely ryokan was a peaceful and homely retreat in an out of the way spot close to a river. The staff and owners were very hospitable and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and pleasant. We had a...

I love this simple, small accommodation mostly because the service and hospitality are outstanding. You can have traditional, or American breakfast, and you will meet other international travelers. Turtle is a short distance from Tokugawa's expansive, highly intricate shrine complex. The Dragon Hall, famous 3 monkeys (hear no evil), and the Imperial horse are on the compound. Nikko is about...

This ryokan is located next to a river. Crack open the window and the sound will lull you to sleep. There are a variety of accommodations here. I was lucky to get a bed, however, there are a number of rooms that resort to the original futons on tatami mats. There are several glorious baths in which you can soak...
