This is a very tradition Ryokan, with futon on mats for sleeping and meals served in your room.
The room was spacious and clean, but without any view. Another ryokan we had stayed in in Takayama had beautiful grounds. That said, service was very good, as were the meals which were served in our room. The outdoor soaking tubs were amazing!

My wife and I went here with my sister-in-law and her husband, who was in Japan for business. The staff was efficient, and the check-in process was very pleasant -- we were seated and served tea while a staff member explained the services. The lobby was very nice, and I had a good impression from the start. Our room was a bit dingy, but my sister's room was a little nicer.
We reserved the private outdoor baths, which was very nice (despite the cold!). The dinner was excellent, easily worth half the price we paid for the the room. The view from our room was NOT good -- a plowed field -- and I thought that the prices for the mini bar and using the karaoke room were excessive. Except for this, the four of us had a very positive experience.

Thank JohnRev
