We haved stayed in Tenpo Ryokan and in overall the stay was good. Place very well located, in the shopping area full of restaurants, close to Kintastu-Nara train station and Nara Park. Tatami was comfortable, although that room was quite warm and small window but air conditioner is available. Room is a little bit smelly like some wood. Staff very...

The pictures on here don't reflect the Ryokans outside. It has been updated and looks very traditional in dark wood. It's modern with ryokan twists. Our room was Japanese style which was great, aside from the round vvv bright lights and that gave it a clinical feel. Lamps would be better. The bathroom was one of those that seems have...

Stayed 2 nights. Room had very strong smells and noise from restaurant kitchen below. Air con not working. Was not able to connect to wifi (I am IT geek). Front desk could not speak English and gave lobby only wifi access codes. About 10 minute walk from Nara JR station to hotel. Tip: can take Bus #2 from Nara JR...

Right off a shopping street with plenty of restaurants and cafes. Very convenient for the sights of Nara as well as rail travel. Rooms are multi-bed, but tired and the air conditioning is noisy. Well equipped though. A functional recommendation.

Very affordable and in a good location. Price is okay on what it looks like, room is a tatami. Very clean, hard pillows tho. Near attraction places :) located near the market so you can go down and eat or buy things you need like toiletries. Nara is a beautiful place, will definitely visit again. Temples are nice. Don't forget...

This is a relatively modern hotel with ryokan style rooms. It looks very tired but the room was quite comfortable. The location is very convenient but if you are travelling using a JR pass the nearest station is not on the JR line so you have to pay to use that line. The JR station is a 10/15 minute walk...

We stayed here for just 2 nights luckily during our 2 week holiday in Japan. We walked past the place twice looking for the entrance as it is on the covered over shopping/restaurant street, and even people working in the nearby shops didn't know where it was. On arrival there was a sign on the counter in Japanese but no...

Odd location, it's located on a shopping street. Rooms are nice, but there's no view. I opened the window and looked into a wall about 3 feet away. The public bath is ok.

We paid about USD 130 for the room per night and felt totally ripped off. First of all, this 'ryokan' is located in a covered shopping mall - so you can forget about any charming entrance. Once you step in, the 'lobby' is dark and shady, with some strange decorations of Japanese armoury etc. The hallway is dark and there...
